Ike Irish earns another All-American nod, this time from Baseball America
Ike Irish had a season to remember in 2025, and it is being honored with another All-American nod.
Baseball America included Irish on its first team All-American squad, which is his third of the season. He was previously honored by Perfect Game and the American Baseball Coaches Association for his amazing season that saw him lead the team in seven statistical categories. Irish is also a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is awarded to the best player in college baseball, as well as the Golden Spikes Award, which goes to the best amateur player in the United States.
Irish experienced the best season of his career during the 2025 season. He led the team in seven categories including average (.364), on-base percentage (.469), slugging percentage (.710), runs (65), hits (78), home runs (19) and total bases (152). He recorded one fewer RBI than Cooper McMurray (58) for the team lead, and he finished third in stolen bases behind Bristol Carter (14) and Cade Belyeu (12). In addition to his team-leading stats, he set career-highs in several areas such as runs, total bases, home runs, walks, hit by pitch, stolen bases, batting average, and slugging percentage.
The status of Irish's return is questionable. Irish, a junior, is receiving first-round projections from major mock drafts including those from The Athletic and USA TODAY. If he were to elect to depart, he will leave Auburn with 39 home runs, 48 doubles, 19 stolen bases, and a batting average of .350.

Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman discusses what went wrong vs. Ohio State with Joel Klatt

We all remember it all too well after the Ohio State football team went on a historic run through the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff to win the national championship last season. It was one for the ages, one in which the Buckeyes beat No. 9 Tennessee, No. 1 Oregon, No. 5 Texas, and then No. 7 Notre Dame to unleash the confetti, trophies, and celebrations. However, for every victor, there is a loser, and in the case of Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach and former Ohio State linebacker Marcus Freeman, the loss to the Buckeyes still stings. Freeman sat down with Fox's Joel Klatt for a wide-ranging interview, and it wouldn't have been complete without re-visiting what happened in Atlanta between the Scarlet and Gray and "Golden Domers." Klatt asked Freeman to go back and think about what he learned from a game in which Ohio State jetted out to a big lead, saw the Irish battle back to within eight points in the fourth quarter, only to see the Buckeyes make plays down the stretch to win rather comfortably. For Freeman, he wishes his team could have played a little better, all while still giving credit to Ohio State. 'I think in those biggest games, those biggest moments, you've got to play your best. You can't make mistakes -- not against a team like Ohio State,' Freeman said. 'You think about the first drive on offense, I think it was a 19-play drive, we execute, we're physical, we go down, we score. Defensively, we didn't play our best, and trust me, credit to Ohio State. They had some elite playmakers. They played really, really well.' As an ultra competitor, you never want to believe a team is better than you, or created some of the mishaps and uncharacteristic play, and that's exactly how Freeman felt. "I wish we could go back and, dang it, we got to play our best, and the outcome might still be the same, but there were moments in that game I thought that's not how we have played all year long,' Freeman said. 'For me, I think about that game and I say, OK, listen, we fought to the very end, right? You're down 21, I think, at half – or something like that, 14 or 21, and it was an eight-point game in the fourth quarter." As for what Freeman learned, he said that he began dissecting that almost immediately and has already made some changes and filed some things away that he would do differently if presented with the opportunity again. 'And it's something I will always remember, we made some changes already after we debriefed from that game. And hey, if we're in that situation, here are some different things we'll do as we prepare for it," Freeman said. "But at the end of the day, you've got to play your best when you're playing the best." Look, there are good coaches and good guys in this game, and I'm not sure many are better than Freeman. He has the Irish on the upswing, and I for one won't be surprised if he does indeed get another shot at the ultimate prize in college football, and he might just bring the thing home next time. I just hope it isn't against his alma mater once again. Grayson McKeogh, a 4-star 2026 offensive tackle, commits to Notre Dame football

This past weekend's official visitors for Notre Dame look like it was a big success, and on Wednesday marked the first commitment following the action. Pennsylvania offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh committed to the Irish over the Texas Longhorns and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The 6-foot, 8-inch and 285-pound star lineman is ranked as the nation's No. 262 overall prospect and the No. 20 offensive tackle in the nation by the 247Sports Composite. Advertisement McKeogh now gives Notre Dame five commitments along the offensive line, one that could make up the core of that position for years to come. The newest addition could end up being the best, as he's a true left tackle with a frame that resembles another former Irish star in Joe Alt. While McKeogh might not have the immediate impact that Alt did for Notre Dame, he has the potential to end up going the same route, as a multi-year starter and an early NFL draft pick. This is another huge recruiting win for the Irish. This article originally appeared on Fighting Irish Wire: Grayson McKeogh, a 2026 offensive tackle, commits to Notre Dame

Notre Dame added its second 2026 recruit of the day as safety Joey O'Brien committed

It has been a huge week for Notre Dame football recruiting, as they added offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh, cornerback Khary Adams and now safety Joey O'Brien to its 2026 class. The Irish beat out Clemson, Oregon, and Penn State for the O'Brien's verbal, putting the class at No. 19 players. The addition of the 6-foot, 3-inch and 185-pounder continues Notre Dame's hot streak, one that got started last weekend with each one of this week's commitments making their official visits. Advertisement The future for the Irish secondary is extremely bright, as O'Brien, Adams, and safety Ayden Pouncey are all considered some of the best players in the country. It shouldn't come as a surprise that Notre Dame was able to land each one of these prospects, as they've recently sent multiple defensive backs to the NFL. This could very well end up being head coach Marcus Freeman's best effort on the recruiting trail, as there is still room to add more than a few top players, along with already having one of the country's best collection of commitments. This class should be another piece of the puzzle to keep Notre Dame among the top teams in all of college football.
