For all the noise coming out of Dallas following Micah Parsons' social media trade request, it doesn't seem to be being taken all that seriously by Cowboys ownership.
In a lengthy post to X over the weekend, Parsons talked about the ups and downs of negotiations to this point and that he ultimately landed on not wanting to be a Dallas Cowboy anymore.
"Unfortunately I no longer want to be here," Parsons wrote. "I no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me. I had purposely stayed quiet in hopes of getting something done."
Those words didn't appear to sway Jerry Jones who pretty much attempted to call the All-Pro's bluff with this weekend's comments to the media.
"I think the world of Micah. That's just the part of negotiation. I don't really place that with any seriousness," Jones said of the linebacker's trade request, via Jon Machota.
"I wouldn't be standing here with you if I didn't think we potentially had a great future with Micah [Parsons]," Jones continued. "We're in good shape. This is negotiation. But make no mistake about it, life has to go on if something happens to me or anybody else. Life does go on. ... I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this."
In an interview with the team's website Jerry went on to say that people would be shocked if they saw the actual figure that's been on the table to keep Micah in Frisco.
"What y'all don't know is what I offered him, and it's a helluva lot more than you think I did," Jones claimed. "That's what you don't know ... But my point is I reached. Make no mistake about it. I reached."
Jones also made a reference to "guaranteeing somebody almost $200 million," which if true, would make Micah far and away the highest-paid pass rusher in the NFL above the likes of T.J. Watt, Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett who all signed big money contract extensions since Micah and Jerry met back in March.
