Joanna Gaines Making Jam with Teen Son Has Fans Inspired to Follow Suit
Joanna Gaines is soaking up every sweet moment she can with her kids this summer. Quite literally, in fact. As she prepares to send her oldest daughter Ella off to college in the fall, her second child to leave the nest in the last few years, Joanna is getting in quality time in the most wholesome way possible. She and her teenage son are making homemade jam together. And after the Magnolia magnate shared a video of the process, her fans are hoping to see this sweet bonding moment become a new series.
The mom of five took to Instagram on Friday to share a beautiful day she recently spent with her teenage son making and canning fresh jam. "Savoring the best flavors of summer with my boy," she captioned the post, where she and her 17-year-old son Duke were working away at making jam together. Mother and son chopped up strawberries and peeled peaches, giving the leftovers to the familiy pigs for a snack, before stewing the fruit and canning dozens of jars of fresh jam. It was a sweet little glimpse into their family dynamic, and fans want more. "Would love to see a Magnolia Table episode on how to make jam," wrote one user, while another couldn't get over how lovely it was to see a teen boy in the kitchen with his mom. "A teenage boy helping his mom cook!?! The sweetest!"
Joanna has a long history of encouraging her kids to help out around the house in ways that will set them up to be self-sufficient and resourceful as adults. Her daughter Ella interned at Magnolia Studios ahead of her high school graduation, and of course anyone who watched Joanna and Chip's Home Town series has seen the family all pitch in with decor and demo days alongside their parents. Even her 7-year-old son Crew gets in on the home improvement action, making sourdough bagels with his mom as an unusual and delicious nighttime routine.
All of these sweet, homespun cooking moments are in keeping with Chip and Joanna's new series on Magnolia Network, Back to the Frontier. where three families give up modern conveniences to live like as 19th century homesteaders. Which has us wondering if Joanna was inspired by the new show or the new show was inspired by her family?
Certainly we're pretty inspired to see all of these delicious bonding moments with her kids.

Superman star David Corenswet recently opened up about what sets James Gunn's film apart from the other comic book films being made. According to the actor, this isn't your standard 'comic book movie.' It is the comic book. 'My impression, which is only my impression, but rather than being a comic book adaptation to film, which has been the renaissance of comic book movies that started with great films like Iron Man and Batman Begins, where it sort of felt like we were bringing these comic characters to the real world, James's Superman movie is more a comic book up on the big screen. 'I've heard it described that the experience of watching it is sort of like the experience of reading a comic, but obviously in motion on a giant screen, shared with the people around you. I think that should be a new experience for people, and is a great way to start a new era of comic book movies.' Having seen the film, I 100% agree and that is exactly why I loved the movie! It's very different from any of the other superhero films being made these days. Gunn just has this distinct filmmaking style hat embraces weirdness, color, and emotional sincerity without losing the escapist fun of the medium. Corenswet also spoke about the responsibility of taking on a character with so much legacy attached. Instead of mimicking previous portrayals, he went straight to the source material: All-Star Superman , the modern classic by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely that Gunn reportedly used as a creative north star. 'There's something cool about, in the same way when you play a great character in theater who's been played by great actors before you, you don't really get the chance to go back and see their performances and be inspired by their performances. 'But when you read the play, and you get your inspiration from the same words that they got their inspiration from, there's a nice little spiritual connection through time there." He continued: 'For me, it was focusing on drawing inspiration from All-Star Superman, the comic that James sort of pointed us to. And in looking at that – not that all the Supermans before me have read that comic – but I saw some things that I recognized in other actors' portrayal of the character. 'But in drawing it from the comics rather than from the other performances, I felt confident that it would become my own interpretation, and I would find things that would be overlapping, but ultimately distinct from previous actors.' Between the reverence for the comics and the promise of a cinematic experience that feels like reading a comic on a massive screen, Superman is something truly new in a genre desperate for reinvention. Joy Taylor is out at Fox Sports as part of a series of moves that will also see the network's cable arm, FS1, cancel 'Speak,' the show Taylor co-hosts, as well as its two morning programs, sources briefed on the decisions told The Athletic. The three shows struggled to find a huge audience, prompting the cancellations, according to sources briefed on the decision. Advertisement Taylor, 38, has been in headlines over the past year as FS1 has been embroiled in harassment allegations against its former top programming executive, Charlie Dixon. In one of the two lawsuits, Noushin Faraji, a make-up artist, accused Dixon of sexual battery, and the suit alleged that Taylor told Faraji 'to get over it.' Taylor denied the allegation. Dixon has been out at the network since late April. Taylor co-hosted 'Speak' with Keyshawn Johnson and Paul Pierce. Taylor's contract was up and not renewed by Fox Sports after she had been with the network for nearly a decade. FS1 is also ending the morning shows 'Breakfast Ball' and 'The Facility.' Fox Sports declined to comment. Colin Cowherd's 'The Herd,' which begins at noon (ET), and 'First Things First' with Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes at 3 p.m. (ET), will continue in their time slots. Ian Ziering has broken his social media silence on the death of his Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star, Shannen Doherty. On the one-year anniversary of Doherty's death, Ziering posted a heartfelt message on Instagram. "When I first heard she was sick, we had nearly a decade more with her. And even then, most of the updates sounded less like 'Shannen's fighting cancer' and more like 'cancer picked the wrong woman.' That was her way—strong, defiant, take-no-prisoners tough," Ziering began. "Every time I saw her during those years, she was still Shan—fierce, funny, full of life. That's why her passing hit me like a freight train. I was shocked. I truly believed she was going to pull off one more miracle." "When she died a year ago, I didn't post anything. And yes, some people criticized that. To them I say: grief isn't a performance. It's personal. Let people grieve how they grieve," he continued. "Over the past year, I've seen my old castmates a few times. It's been hard being together without her—and Luke. That kind of loss doesn't fade. It just rearranges the furniture in your heart." Ziering went on to say that he misses Doherty and that he thinks of her "often." "Your kind heart that so few really got to see. I still carry all of it with me. Rest easy, Shan," he concluded. Dozens of fans took to the comments section of the post to send Ziering love and to let him know that his tribute was "beautifully written."
