Tiger Woods Has Warning for Golfers Before U.S. Open

The world's best golfers are in Pennsylvania this weekend as the U.S. Open tees off at Oakmont Country Club. Scottie Scheffler, fresh off of his PGA Championship win, is the heavy favorite to win his fourth major title. Bryson DeChambeau, the reigning U.S. Open champion is the second favorite with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm following close behind. Advertisement Three-time U.S. Open winner Tiger Woods won't be competing in the event, but he did have a piece of advice - more like a warning - for the competitors teeing it up. "You just have to hit the golf ball well there. There is no faking about Oakmont," Woods said in a video posted on Instagram. View the original article to see embedded media. "The golf course is big, yes, but it's just -- there is no way around it. You just have to hit the golf ball well, and it favors longer hitters, just because of the degrees, the complexes," he added. "It just helps so much to be coming with shorter iron, to be able to sock the ball. It's about missing the ball on correct spots ... because if you don't, it's horrible!" Woods has won 15 major titles in his career, so he knows a thing or two about tough golf courses. the 49-year-old underwent surgery on March 11 to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon.
