However, the announcement sparked a wave of criticism from Bengalureans online, many of whom challenged the accuracy of the claims and expressed frustration over continued neglect in their areas.
'9,700 complaints is enough to show the mirror,' one user commented. 'What proactive steps is the government taking to ensure a cleaner Bengaluru?'
Another user shared a photo of a garbage dump from JP Nagar 8th Phase and wrote, 'Complained multiple times. No one cares.'
Several responses highlighted ongoing issues in various neighborhoods, including Sarakki Lake, Ashtalaxmi Layout, and areas lacking basic sanitation infrastructure. One user alleged that BBMP field staff often close complaints without addressing them, remarking, 'Even if I say there is garbage in your bedroom, they'll close it without checking.'
Another user offered a more constructive take, urging authorities to equip and train sanitation workers better, while also calling on citizens to segregate waste and share responsibility.
Despite the BBMP's claims of a large-scale cleanup operation and promises of enforcement, the ground reality shared by residents paints a starkly different picture.

SC sets ball rolling for B'luru civic polls; orders delimitation by Nov 1
New Delhi/Bengaluru: (SC) on Monday issued the go-ahead for polls to the five newly-created municipal corporations in Bengaluru — in place of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) — to ensure better civic amenities in the metropolis. BBMP has been divided into five smaller corporations -- Bengaluru North, West, South, East and Central. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi ruled that when the population has been estimated by the state to have increased from 84 lakh in 2011 to 144 lakh in 2025, there is a need for carrying out delimitation exercise, based on which, the State Election Commission (SEC) can finalise the electoral rolls. Appearing for the state, senior advocate A M Singhvi and state advocate general Shashi Kiran Shetty said the delimitation process would be carried out between Sept 3 and Nov 1, when the final notification on ward delimitation will be published. They said final notification on ward reservation will be published on Nov 30. The SEC, through senior advocate K N Phanindra, had told the court that EC could not hold elections to the five new municipal corporations in Bengaluru unless the state notified the 'Conduct of Election Rules'. Responding to it, Shetty told the court that the state would notify the relevant rules within a week. The SC told SEC to proceed with finalisation of the voters' list for the civic bodies immediately after finalisation of the delimitation process and to complete the process in 60-90 days. The court has posted further hearing on Nov 3. SEC said in its affidavit it would require "60 to 90 days after issuance of final notification of delimitation by the state govt for preparation and finalising electoral rolls/voters' list for the five newly-constituted city corporations". PM Modi, Amit Shah meet President Murmu separately amid Opposition protests in Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday separately. Hours later, at 6.35 pm, it again posted about home minister Amit Shah calling on the President. 'Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan,' the post read. This was the first time the Prime Minister met President Murmu after his recent foreign visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives. The meeting comes amid the ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament, which started on July 21, and days after both the houses witnessed a heated discussion on Operation Sindoor last week on Monday and Tuesday. Last week, the extension of the President's rule in Manipur for six more months was approved by the Lok Sabha. However, the upper house is yet to take up the motion for discussion. Manipur has been under the President's rule since February this year . The high-profile meetings also come amid Opposition's continued protests in Parliament over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls going on in Bihar ahead of the assembly polls there. The Opposition has demanded a detailed discussion on the exercise in the Parliament before the state polls. This is also the first time the PM and the President have met after the United States announced 25 per cent tariffs on India along with an unspecified penalty for doing business with Russia.
