Malaysia Airlines expands operations from Kerala
Starting 6 June, flights from Trivandrum will increase from four to five times weekly, complementing daily flights from Kochi and bring the airline's total services from Kerala to 12 weekly flights, a release said.
This enhanced connectivity reflects strong outbound demand from the region and strengthens access to Malaysia Airlines' global network of over 68 global destinations via Kuala Lumpur, including Australia, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand. Across India, the airline now operates more than 76 weekly flights from 10 cities.
Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) said 'Kerala remains one of our most promising markets in South India. Our growing footprint in Trivandrum demonstrates our commitment to delivering premium, seamless, and enriching travel experiences to the region's flyers."

To support inbound travel, Malaysia Airlines has partnered with Kerala Tourism on the 'Look East' campaign, designed to boost Kerala's visibility across key Eastern markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Taiwan.
A recent familiarisation trip jointly hosted with Kerala Tourism brought over 40 leading tour operators and top influencers to the state, showcasing Kerala as a preferred destination in Southeast Asia.

Russian official expresses confidence dialogue can resolve US-Russia differences amid Witkoff visit
Moscow, Aug 6 (UNI) Russian President Vladmir Putin's economic envoy Kirill Dmitriev has expressed confidence that Moscow and Washington can resolve their differences through dialogue, reports RT. The statement comes as US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff held a meeting with Putin, with the former holding talks with the Russian leader on reaching a settlement with Ukraine over Trump's threats to impose 100% sanctions on Moscow, should it fail to reach a peace settlement with Kyiv. For its part, Russia has downplayed the threat of sanctions, stating that its long years of having stayed under Western embargo has made it develop an 'immunity' to sanctions, adding that additional sanctions mean nothing for its economy, even as the US President has acknowledged Moscow's ability to skirt past the sanctions. The Kremlin has also mocked the POTUS' deadline manoeuvre, with former Russian President and now Chief of National Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, having engaged in a furious battle of words with Trump over the issue, resulting in the US' deployment of nuclear submarines. In a post on X on Wednesday, Dmitriev, who is CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), thanked his followers for their 'kind wishes for a successful visit of Steve Witkoff to Moscow,' adding that 'Dialogue will prevail.' Dmitriev was also part of the Russian delegation which welcomed Witkoff at Vnukovo Airport, and the two were later seen walking through Zaryadye Park near the Kremlin. Later in the day, Witkoff held face-to-face talks with Putin, which lasted around three hours. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, speaking on the Putin-Witkoff talks noted that both sides managed to hold a constructive and productive conversation which focused on the Ukraine conflict and 'prospects for US-Russia strategic cooperation.'

Third satellite launch pad project set for March 2029 completion
New Delhi, Aug 6 (UNI) The Third Satellite Launch Pad (TLP) Project, a significant expansion of India's space infrastructure, has made steady progress following the receipt of financial sanction in March 2025, the Government informed Parliament today. It will be fully commissioned by March 2029, it said. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Department of Space in a written reply to Lok Sabha said, 'The preliminary geo-technical investigation and topographical survey of the designated site were completed by May 2025, laying the groundwork for further development. Presently, bids for road construction and electrical works are being evaluated.' The project is structured around four critical milestones: completion of civil engineering works by May 2028, establishment of fluid handling systems and propellant storage facilities by July 2028, installation of launch pad facilities by September 2028, and full commissioning by March 2029, he said. Dr Jitendra Singh shared that the Department of Space has announced plans to engage Indian private sector firms and MSMEs through a transparent tendering process aligned with the government's Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
