Jordan: Ajloun sets new visitor record with over 6,100 in a day — official
AMMAN — The Ajloun cable car attraction reached a new milestone on Friday, drawing more than 6,100 visitors in a single day, including Jordanians, residents, and tourists from across the Arab world and beyond.
Tareq Maaitah, Director of the AjlounDevelopment Area, told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the record turnout highlights the strong appeal of the cable car project and reinforces its role as a flagship destination on Jordan's tourism map.
Maaytah attributed the growing popularity to a targeted strategy aimed at enhancing the visitor experience through quality events and engaging programs, which have contributed to longer tourist stays.
He added that Ajloun is experiencing a notable rise in tourism activity this season, positioning the area as a leading year-round destination.

The festival's official poster, designed by HUE Innovation & Design, captures this spirit with a visual style that introduces both a playful tone and a subtle message of hope, reinforcing the core message of spontaneity and resilience. This year also marks a significant milestone for the festival with the introduction of its first-ever 'Country of Honour.' Ireland has been selected for this role, with a dedicated spotlight on Irish cinema featured in the programme. Festival Director Nada Doumani highlighted the thematic synergy between Irish and Arab films, noting that both cultures use cinema to explore identity, resilience, and the path toward peace. She emphasised that within the framework of 'A World Unscripted,' Irish and Arab stories find common ground in their exploration of human experience. Doumani also pointed to Ireland's principled stance and strong support for Palestine and human rights, which further resonates with the region and the spirit of this year's edition. Irish Ambassador to Jordan, Marianne Bolger, added: 'I am exceptionally proud that Ireland has been selected as the Festival's first Country of Honour, and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the President of the Festival and its organisers. Ireland has a long history in cinema and filmmaking, and we are delighted to work closely with the AIFF to bring a collection of Irish films to Jordan that will hopefully resonate with audiences. Jordan: Agricultural producer prices jump 9.3% in early 2025 — DoS
AMMAN — Jordan's Agricultural Producer Price Index (PPI) saw a significant 9.3 per cent increase in the first four months of 2025 compared with the same period last year, according to a report issued Sunday by the Department of Statistics (DoS). The index, a key measure of inflation at the farm level, rose to 111.5 points, up from 102.0 points in the first third of 2024, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. According to the department's analysis, this overall increase was driven by "sharp" price hikes in crops such as sweet green peppers, cauliflower and hot peppers, which collectively hold a 34.3 per cent weighting in the index. The rise occurred despite price drops in several "heavily" weighted crops, including eggplant, potatoes, and tomatoes (65.7 per cent weighting). On a year-on-year basis for the month of April, the price surge was even more. The agricultural PPI for April 2025 stood at 119.9 points, a 24.6 per cent jump from 96.3 points in April 2024. This was primarily fueled by higher prices for green chickpeas, tomatoes and melons. While, the month-on-month data showed a "notable" decrease. The April index marked a 7.4 per cent drop from the 129.6 points recorded in March 2025. This monthly decline was attributed to falling prices for seasonal produce like loquats, watermelon, and zucchini. Dr Sultan Al Qasimi Centre recalls Ruler's doctorate from HYU
