Following the 2-2 Test series draw against England, India head coach Gautam Gambhir expressed confidence in his team's ability to dominate red-ball cricket, provided they maintain their work ethic and commitment.
India concluded the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a thrilling six-run win at The Oval on Monday. This victory not only prevented India from suffering a third consecutive Test series defeat under Gambhir's tenure but also silenced critics who doubted the Shubman Gill-led young side.
Despite the Test retirements of senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the young Indian team played cohesively, exhibiting grit and resilience to deliver outstanding performances under pressure in challenging English conditions.
'The way this series has panned out 2-2 is an outstanding result, congratulations to all. So remember, we will keep getting better, we will keep working hard, we will keep improving our areas – because if we keep doing that, we can dominate Test cricket for a very long period. People will come & go, but the culture of the dressing room should always be like that people want to be part of this culture, that is what we want to create. Good luck, enjoy yourself. Who Won India's Impact Player of the Series?
Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja presented the Impact Player of the Series medal to Washington Sundar for his outstanding performance on the tour. Sundar finished the series with 284 runs, including an unbeaten 101 match-saving knock at Old Trafford in Manchester.
'Obviously, it is a great blessing to be playing four games on the trot in a place like England. Always wanted to do really well here. And as a team, just the way we went about, every single day was amazing. The energy we created especially from a fielding perspective, the energy we created, we were always there for each other. Thank you so much for everything," Sudar said of his successful England tour.

New Delhi: In a historic first for the indigenous sport, players from the Indian men's and women's Kho Kho World Cup-winning teams have been invited as special guests to the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. The invitation marks the first time Kho Kho players will be part of India's Independence Day ceremony. Earlier this year, both Indian teams made history by clinching the men's and women's titles at the first-ever Kho Kho World Cup, held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium from January 13 to 19, 2025. The tournament saw participation from 39 teams (20 men's and 19 women's) representing 23 countries across six continents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in the Independence Day address from the iconic Red Fort on August 15. This year's celebration will host around 5,000 special guests from diverse fields, including sportspersons, innovators, and community leaders. 'It is a great promotion for the indigenous sport of Kho Kho. I have only seen Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations on television, and this is the first time I will attend them with my teammates. It's a great feeling,' said Nirmala Bhati, a member of the World Cup-winning women's team. 'We all feel elated that Kho Kho players have been invited for the first time. It's a moment of pride for all of us, and we sincerely thank KKFI president Sudhanshu Mittal and M.S. Tyagi for their unwavering support,' said Pratik Waikar, captain of the victorious men's team. 'It's a privilege and honour for the sport of Kho Kho. The journey of these players is one of dedication, perseverance, and passion. They have fought odds to carve their destinies, and this invitation is a true tribute to the sport's growing stature,' said KKFI chief. Congratulating the athletes, the Chairman of Administration & Organisation, KKFI, said, 'When our players stand in honour of the National Anthem at the Red Fort, it will be a moment of pride for the entire Kho Kho fraternity. Born on September 24, 1999, to Sachin Tendulkar, one of the game's most celebrated figures, Arjun Tendulkar has grown up in the public eye. His journey so far has been a mix of steady steps in education, a developing cricket career, and most recently, a new chapter in his personal life—his engagement to Saaniya Chandok, granddaughter of Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai. Schooling and academic base Arjun began his education at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, an institution known for its rigorous academics and well-rounded approach to student development.
