In India, where cricket often feels like a second religion, a name like Tendulkar carries expectations that are hard to escape. Born on September 24, 1999, to Sachin Tendulkar, one of the game's most celebrated figures, Arjun Tendulkar has grown up in the public eye.
His journey so far has been a mix of steady steps in education, a developing cricket career, and most recently, a new chapter in his personal life—his engagement to Saaniya Chandok, granddaughter of Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai.
Schooling and academic base
Arjun began his education at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, an institution known for its rigorous academics and well-rounded approach to student development. There, he built the foundations of his education while also pursuing cricket. Balancing both academics and sport, he went on to complete his graduation from
Mumbai University
, signalling that studies remained part of his plan even as cricket took centre stage.
Early steps in cricket
Arjun's cricketing journey started in Mumbai's junior teams, where he began to pick up match experience and develop his skills. The first significant milestone came in 2018, when he made his under-19 debut for India against Sri Lanka. On January 15, 2021, he played his first T20 match for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Haryana, taking one wicket for 34 runs in his three overs.
IPL entry and challenges
Ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League season,
Mumbai Indians
brought Arjun into their squad at the player auction.
He was first picked in Mumbai's senior Syed Mushtaq Ali squad on January 2, 2021. In late September 2021, he was ruled out of the 2021 IPL due to injury, delaying his chance to make an impact. The Mumbai Indians signed him again in February 2022, reflecting continued interest in his potential, even if opportunities remained limited.
A move to Goa and first-class cricket
In August 2022, Arjun took the decision to leave Mumbai cricket and join Goa for the domestic season, a shift aimed at securing more playing time and responsibility.
Representing Goa in the 2022–23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Ranji Trophy, he made his first-class debut on December 13, 2022, against Rajasthan. Batting in the first innings, he scored 120 runs off 207 balls—his maiden century in first-class cricket. The innings was a highlight in his career so far and offered a glimpse of his potential in longer formats.
IPL debut and first wicket
On April 16, 2023, Arjun made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shortly afterwards, in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he claimed his first IPL wicket by dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar. These moments, though modest in the larger scheme of the tournament, marked personal milestones in his progression as a player.
A career still in progress
Arjun Tendulkar's cricketing record so far may not yet match the weight of his surname, but his journey reflects a willingness to take calculated steps—shifting teams, adjusting focus, and balancing education with sport. Off the field, his recent engagement marks a new phase in his personal life. On the field, his career remains a work in progress, with each season offering another opportunity to define himself on his own terms.

Former India Pacer Venkatesh Prasad Set To Contest In KSCA Elections

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad is set to contest in the upcoming Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, which is tentatively to be held between October and November. Prasad, a well-experienced coach, selector and administrator, had served as a vice-president from 2013 to 2016 when Anil Kumble was the KSCA president. But since then Prasad stayed away from administration to focus on a coaching career along with dabbling in the media world as a pundit and commentator. The 56-year-old, a former India bowling coach during the 2006-2007 season, was also in the coaching staff of Punjab Kings nee Kings XI Punjab. Prasad will have veteran administrator Vinay Mruthyunjaya on his side. Mruthyunjaya is a former KSCA treasurer and a member of the BCCI Finance Committee. It has been learned that Prasad and Mruthyunjaya will announce the full set of their panel in the coming days. The term of incumbent KSCA regime headed by Raghuram Bhatt will end on September 30. The present set of officials are standing on the firing line after 11 fans died during the stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 while gathering to take part in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations. The KSCA secretary Shankar A and treasurer ES Jairam had to step down, taking moral responsibility for the incident, after the state cabinet green lighted criminal procedures against association officials along with top names of RCB and event management firm DNA. The legal proceedings are in full swing after the cabinet-appointed one-man Justice D'Cunha Commission submitted its findings to the government and the state High Court. Currently, the KSCA secretary and treasurer posts are vacant, and if everything goes as per plan Mruthyunjaya could return to the role. It may be recalled that former India skipper and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who captained Prasad, is also set to re-enter administration as he will in all likelihood file nomination for the president's post in the upcoming Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections.

Aiden Markram to continue opening for South Africa to fit in more power-hitters

Aiden Markram (Getty Images) South Africa captain Aiden Markram confirmed he will continue opening in the T20I team to accommodate more middle-order batters. With the three-match series against Australia tied 1-1, the decider will be played in Cairns on Saturday. Markram enjoyed a strong IPL 2025 as an opener for Lucknow Super Giants, scoring five half-centuries in 13 innings at a strike rate of 148.82. However, he has not crossed fifty in T20Is since October 2022. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "Going through our squads and the players that we've got around, we think probably that (opening) is the best fit. We've got some guys in the middle order that are a lot more destructive than I am, and we feel probably it's better off for me and Ricks ( Ryan Rickelton ) to be up top.' 'I did it a bit at the IPL and am starting to do it now again at international cricket. It's an exciting role. It's always nice to bat in the powerplay, and the focus is to get the team off to good starts," Markram told reporters on Friday. His opening stands with Rickelton in the series have been 12 and 34. While number three Lhuan-dre Pretorius is yet to find form, Dewald Brevis provided a boost with an unbeaten 125 in the second T20I. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Markram also provides an off-spin option and has occasionally taken the new ball, including dismissing Travis Head in the second match in Darwin. "It's very much a feel thing. It's quite a daunting task. You just see the ball flying nowadays, and I'm not so sure I really want to be a bowler. "But there'll be occasions where you feel like the wicket might be on the slower side or might offer something, and you sort of take that punt. The way I try to operate is just go on my gut feel, whatever my gut's telling me in the moment, run with that and back that and reflect on what could have been and what should have been possibly after the game," he said. With South Africa having won only one of their last nine bilateral T20I series, including losing the tri-series final to New Zealand, Markram is eager to turn the tide. "It feels like we are moving in the right direction. The series so far has been good. The bowlers have been pretty good for us. 'The previous game made our batters look good, but it was very much an individual performance (Brevis hit an unbeaten 125). So a nice challenge for our batters tomorrow to hopefully click and for them to put on a good score." Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
