Will not rest until Cong removed from power in Karnatak: Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru, Jun 15 (UNI) Asserting a relentless political campaign against the Congress, Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday vowed not to rest until the grand old party is removed from power in Karnataka.
"I will not rest until Congress is completely sent home," Kumaraswamy declared while addressing party workers at the JD(S) membership drive launch event at the party headquarters here.
Sharpening his attack on the state government, Kumaraswamy questioned the Congress administration's priorities. Referring to the Rs 92 crore sanctioned for Cauvery Aarti, he said, "Why is such a huge amount needed? Is it only to perform aarti for the faces of Congress leaders?"
He mocked the Congress party's claim of transforming Bengaluru into Singapore, pointing to civic failures during recent rains. "We've seen their model, just look at the condition in Sai Layout when it rained. Is this the Singapore they promised?' he asked.
Accusing the government of failing to generate employment, Kumaraswamy also took a swipe at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, saying he behaves like a CM "only on the steps of Vidhana Soudha," citing the recent Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede, in which 11 people lost their lives, as an example of administrative negligence.
The JD(S) leader expressed confidence that a JD(S)-BJP coalition government would come to power in the future. "Let there be no doubt about our alliance. There is no confusion between BJP and JD(S). Seat-sharing is my responsibility. Strengthen your constituencies. All decisions will be taken at the Centre," he said.
He dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's claims that JD(S) is finished and underlined the turnout at the party event as proof of continued grassroots support. "Such misinformation campaigns will not work. Today's gathering is the answer."
Kumaraswamy said he accepted the role of Union Minister out of compulsion, acknowledging that party organisation had slowed down. However, he praised JD(S) Youth Wing President Nikhil Kumaraswamy for taking the lead to revive the party. "Earlier, he hesitated to visit constituencies. Now, he is actively reaching out to party workers."
Rejecting criticism that JD(S) is a family-run party, Kumaraswamy took a jibe at the Congress leadership. "Do poor people go near the houses of Siddaramaiah or Deputy CM DK Shivakumar? When we won, we didn't become arrogant. When we lost, we didn't break down."
He also reflected on his personal health struggles. "I have undergone three heart surgeries and twice faced pleural complications. I live only for the people,' he said, ending with a call for humility and unity in the alliance. 'Let us walk with humility alongside the BJP. What happens next is in God's hands."

Delhi CM campaigns for Jiwan Gupta, accuses Arvind Kejriwal of corruption
Ludhiana: Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, who was in the city on Sunday to solicit votes for BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta, trained guns at AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and his Delhi cabinet. She accused them of indulging in corrupt practices over the past 10 years. She said that fresh cases had been registered against Kejriwal and his team and those out on bail could land in jail at any time. She added that the AAP government had not presented a single CAG report in the assembly in the past 10 years, while they had brought six such reports. Now, she said, the law would take its course on corruption. Rekha Gupta also accused former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia of not responding to summons sent to him in lieu of the Ludhiana bypoll. Gadkari, Fadnavis attend coordination meet with RSS frontal orgs
Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis , Union minister Nitin Gadkari and many other BJP MLAs from Vidarbha attended a coordination meeting with RSS ' frontal organizations on Sunday at Nagpur, something which created a buzz in political circles because of the impending local body polls in state. However, RSS as well as BJP sources denied the local body poll speculations, saying Sunday's meeting at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, which houses the memorial of Sangh founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, is an annual fixture where work done by frontal organizations is reviewed. Dr Upendra Kothekar, Vidarbha Sanghathan Mantri of BJP, said, "There is nothing political about this meeting, as we hold it twice every year. This was for Vidarbha Prant, hence only MLAs from the region were invited. Around 30 of Sangh affiliated organizations were present who gave a report on the activities conducted by them." He added the impending polls should not be linked with Sunday's meet. "This meeting is called 'Samanvay Baithak' and is held every year in June and then around October," said Dr Kothekar. Whenever such meetings are held during election year, the buzz is about how both BJP and RSS affiliated organizations are aligning themselves to fine tune social projects. BJP MLA (East Nagpur) Krishna Khopde said, "I attended the meeting but had to leave early because of some prior commitments. But definitely there was no political discussion happening. Organizations belonging to the parivaar (Sangh) presented details of initiatives taken by them and what they achieved." Dr Kothekar said the presence of BJP MLAs should not be connected with speculations of a political meeting. "They are primarily BJP party members. And as public representatives they must be aware of what social work is being done by Sangh organizations," said Dr Kothekar.
