Richard's life is transformed after losing weight with slimming group

RICHARD Rawlinson was taking part in a motoring rally in Paris when he felt he needed to do something about his weight.
'I was competing in a rally in France and had stopped off in Paris. There's a picture of me outside Notre Dame which was my turning point picture,' he says. 'I looked at it and remember feeling heavy, my race suit had split at the side, and I was feeling unfit and sluggish.'
Company boss Richard, 52, from Bradford, loves road racing in his spare time. He co-drives for a team which competes in the Northern off-road club and in the French championship.

Richard with wife Anne Marie The dad of grown-up children Caitlyn and Dylan, he is also a successful Slimming World target member, having lost more than three and a half stone in 2019.
Richard, who runs a service engineering firm for the print and packaging industry, began attending Slimming World with his wife Anne-Marie, who was already a member.
'I wasn't going along to a group alone,' he says, 'When I started I felt relieved that a line had been drawn and I could see a solution to my increased weight.'
Richard loves cooking and saw finding new ways to make meals as a bonus.
'Changing the way I cooked without adding fats and oils and removing fat and skin where I saw it, was the simplest of changes; filling up on vegetables and lean meats so that I felt satisfied and wasn't hungry, was key.
' I work away a lot and found it difficult to start with, but soon acquired the skills to navigate around a menu, avoiding choices that were smoothed or creamy and finding the better choices like grilled and boiled, meaning I could still lose weight.'
When Richard was growing up he had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis - now known as juvenile idiopathic arthritis. His weight put extra strain on his leg joints, causing him pain.
'Keeping track of my weight is a great way to help my joints. I do sometimes get flare ups but these are few and far between now I'm at my target weight.
'Mentally and emotionally, I feel much better in myself, and not as self-conscious about my body, I still have to look again at the pictures of myself to see it's me.'
Working on his fitness was important too. 'I was encouraged at group to build on my activity through Slimming World's Body Magic programme, an activity pathway that's rooted in behaviour change.

'We now have two beautiful border collies who can walk for ever; we've walked a few Lake District mountains and the Yorkshire Three Peaks, one at a time. I also set myself a yearly challenge, so far I've completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks twice, a 10K Tough Mudder, and completed the Couch to 5K - it doesn't feel normal to not have activity in my life.'
He adds: 'I love our group, and even though I am at my personal achievement target, I still go as much as possible, my fellow members supported me on my journey, and now I see it as my job to encourage other on their way. There's tons of support, food ideas, and strategies and its full of fantastic inspirational people, who are making amazing changes to habits and existing lifestyles.
'I am proud of myself for losing weight and working on my health and wellbeing, I've been privileged to have be asked to co-drive for several off road teams, winning the 2023 and 2024 Northern off-road championship, as well as been invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
'It's so much more than the weight you lose, it's the life you gain - go along to your local group to hear more.'

Donnarumma set for PSG exit amid legal threats; Premier League move likely

By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on August 13, 2025, 08:20 IST Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma appears set to leave the French giants after being left out of the squad, with his agent confirming legal action is being considered and a Premier League transfer now the most probable outcome. Speaking to Sky Sport, Donnarumma's agent Enzo Raiola expressed shock over the club's sudden change of stance, revealing that the Italian goalkeeper had even agreed to a salary reduction to stay. 'From Gigio's words, you can feel he's very sad. I am stunned… years of respect and then in the last 10 days all collapsed,' Raiola said. Raiola accused PSG of a 'big lack of respect' after they opted to sign another goalkeeper and remove Donnarumma from the team. He confirmed that their legal team will be reviewing the case, suggesting the decision was abrupt and financially motivated. The agent also criticised PSG's demands, claiming they were 'exaggerated' and driven purely by money. While legal proceedings remain on the table, Raiola said they will try to better understand PSG's position in the coming days, even with lawyers involved. Donnarumma, joined PSG from AC Milan in 2021 after winning the European Championship with Italy. He has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper but now faces an uncertain future as tensions with the club escalate. PSG Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Announces He's Leaving the Club

Paris SG PSG Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Announces He's Leaving the Club Published Aug. 12, 2025 6:13 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Just hours after being left out of Paris Saint-Germain's squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham, star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma posted a message saying he is leaving the club. When PSG named its squad for the match earlier on Tuesday, goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who recently joined from Lille for just over 40 million euros ($46 million), was included along with backup goalies Matvei Safonov and Renato Marin. Chevalier's arrival was expected to signal Donnarumma's departure, with the 26-year-old Italy international unlikely to accept being No. 2 if coach Luis Enrique decided so. Donnarumma then posted a message in Italian, English and French on his Instagram account saying he had effectively been forced out. "Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success," he wrote. "I am disappointed and disheartened." He bade farewell to fans ahead of the new season. "I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done," Donnarumma said. "I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who made me feel at home." ADVERTISEMENT Donnarumma did not name the person who no longer wants him in the squad, but in a pre-match news conference PSG coach Luis Enrique explained why he had signed Chevalier. "These are always difficult decisions to make, I know. I can only say good things about Gigio (Gianluigi). He's one of the best players in his position, without a doubt, and he's even better as a person," Luis Enrique said. "We were looking for a different type of goalkeeper. And I repeat, it's always difficult to make a decision like that." It is thought that Chevalier's superior passing from the back— which has been a noticeable shortcoming for Donnarumma — was a crucial factor in the decision. However, Donnarumma was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe last season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League success with inspired shot-stopping in the knockout stages. He also starred for Italy when it won the European Championship in 2021. But with one year left on his contract, Donnarumma had refused to sign a new contract and PSG was unlikely to let him leave for free at the end of the season. He has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League big-spender Manchester City, with Manchester United also reportedly interested. PSG experienced the same situation two seasons ago with Kylian Mbappe, who ended up joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after refusing to take up the option of a one-year contract extension. Donnarumma was in a similar position to Chevalier when he joined the club after helping Italy win the Euros. He replaced Keylor Navas as No. 1, even though Navas had been outstanding for PSG the previous season. Donnarumma's arrival at PSG was seen by fans as hugely unfair on Navas and a clumsy move by the club. Now the situation has come full circle for the Italy keeper, who finds himself in much the same position as Navas was. "If he has to go, then we thank him from the bottom of our hearts," PSG captain Marquinhos said. "He has been a great leader all these years. Seeing Donnarumma leave would upset me." PSG begins its league campaign at Nantes on Aug. 17. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Travis Kelce Shared His Favorite Colognes 2025

Travis Kelce looks like someone who'd smell good, right? There's a suave, cool factor about him that exudes a vibe that he rocks a sexy cologne, ya know. Maybe it's that he's really into his style and always looks pretty good (mustache included). Or it's his loud personality, on and off the field. Honestly, I can't imagine anyone spending that much time with Taylor Swift could smell anything less than fantastic. But I don't actually have to guess anymore, since Travis broke down his go-to perfumes and a love story (pun intended) for cologne in a video with GQ. "Gotta have the cologne," Travis says, outlining his essentials. He loves spritzing and trying new scents in "smell good stores," as he calls 'em. "It's all trial and error; it's whatever you feel like," he adds. "Who doesn't love smelling good?" Travis continues. And I couldn't agree more. But even if you can't afford Trav's $$$$ picks (four dollar signs is intentional here—his favorite cologne, Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman, clocks in at $245 for a 1.7 oz bottle), you can glean quite a bit of fragrance wisdom from the three-time Super Bowl winner. He's full of surprises! "You gotta have more than just one, ladies and gentleman," says Travis. He's got three favorite colognes and believes you've gotta have variety. And I couldn't agree more, as a fragrance-obsessed beauty editor. Having a collection of different scents that work with your distinct moods, occasions, and seasons helps you feel more put-together, just by spritzing on a perfume. "Obviously, there are certain smells that just match the fit perfectly, whether it's a dinner night or you're going out with your friends or just going to work," he explains. Key notes: Pear, bergamot, ginger, orange blossom, musk, cedar Key notes: Lychee, bergamot, ginger, peony, rose, cacao, patchouli Key notes: Bergamot, galbanum, ginger, solar notes, sandalwood, cedarwood And Travis is a fan of perfume layering too. "Sometimes you can mix and match if they smell good together," he says. It makes sense: His three faves all share a few notes in common (Travis loves ginger, bergamot, and woods, evidently), so they flow easily with each other if you layer one with the other. Fragrance is for everyone, and the idea of "perfumes for women" and "colognes for men" is seriously outdated. Even Travis agrees! One of his go-to Louis Vuitton scents, Attrape-Rêves (which he wholesomely couldn't pronounce because he "failed French freshman year"), is actually marketed as a "woman's scent." But I totally see why Travis loves it. It's a floral perfume that's grounded by earthy patchouli and warm cacao, but opens with bright lychee, bergamot, and ginger. I get it: He likes unique takes on woody, warm scents (especially if they've got ginger in there). With that in mind, I bet he'd love Taylor Swift Wonderstruck... IDK if Travis just loves his Louis Vuitton heritage print or if he's actually a serious fraghead. But there's more than just a cute reason behind his Louis cases. Actually, these are fantastic for protecting your perfumes. Listen, the juice in your bottles is fragile, and too much heat or sun exposure can change the scent. Not something you want when you're spending a whole lotta money. If you keep your perfumes on a tray on your vanity, consider a case. Louis Vuitton's are stunning for their specific scents if you also have the budget of a champion. Personally, I like to keep my precious scents in a leather vanity case, and I've moved many of my others away from the window.
