Sherine Abdel Wahab and Mohamed Fadel Shaker to Close Mawazine Festival with a Star-Studded Night
For Sherine, the night marks a highly anticipated comeback to Mawazine after a nine-year hiatus—her last performance at the festival was in 2016. Known for her powerful voice and emotional connection with fans, Sherine is preparing a magical set filled with surprises and fan-favorite hits to celebrate the Moroccan audience that has always embraced her. Her recent success during Ramadan, including her songs featured in the hit series 'Ekhwaty' and a standout ad campaign, has only heightened anticipation for her return.
Mohamed Fadel Shaker, who will be sharing the night with Sherine, will be making his official Mawazine debut as a solo artist. Thirteen years ago, he appeared on the same stage as a young boy alongside his father, legendary singer Fadel Shaker, performing the emotional duet 'Rouh.' That memorable concert was his father's last major public appearance before retiring from the spotlight, making Mohamed's return to that stage especially symbolic.
With Sherine headlining and Mohamed opening the evening, June 28 promises to be a night to remember—an unforgettable celebration of Arab music, legacy, and fresh talent lighting up the grand finale of Mawazine 2025.

Gérard Depardieu Found Guilty of Sexual Assault in Court Ruling
SEENEWS French actor Gérard Depardieu, 76, has been found guilty of sexual assault against two women during the 2021 filming of Les Volets Verts in Paris. The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison with a suspended sentence, added him to France's national sex offender registry, and ordered him to pay compensation to the victims. The verdict, delivered by a Paris court, marks a turning point for France's film industry, and the broader MeToo movement in Europe. Depardieu, who was not present in court at the time of sentencing, was accused of groping two women on set, a set designer identified as Amélie, and an assistant director known by the pseudonym Sarah. The assaults reportedly took place in September 2021, during the production of a film centered on an aging actor. According to court testimony, Depardieu used sexually explicit language and touched the women inappropriately without consent. Amélie, now 54, spoke emotionally after the ruling, telling reporters she was "deeply moved" and that the outcome represented "a victory and a major step forward." Her account, the court found, was consistent and credible, unlike Depardieu's defense, which the judge noted had shifted over time. Depardieu's legal team, led by attorney Jérémie Assous, has announced plans to appeal the decision. The actor, who has denied all allegations, remained in the Azores working on a film with his long-time friend and fellow actor Fanny Ardant, during the trial's conclusion. In addition to the suspended sentence, the court ordered Depardieu to pay €1,000 in compensation to each of the victims for what the judge described as 'secondary suffering', caused by the conduct of the defense during trial proceedings. This concept reflects the additional trauma experienced during public cross-examination. The judge underscored that there was no reason to doubt the victims' accounts, adding that the behavior described, including groping and vulgar comments, amounted to criminal assault. read more 2 Most Inspirational Green Projects in Egypt AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT to Strive over Viewership Tonight Egypt Marks 70th Anniv. of 2011 Revolution, National Police Day In Depth: WWE NXT Halloween Havoc In Depth: AEW Dynamite, WWE NXT Tuesday Viewership Strive Videos & Features WATCH: Egyptians Break Ramadan Fasts in Matariya Videos & Features GrEEk Campus Hosts Jobzella Fifth Career Fair Videos & Features 3 Iconic Ramadan Songs of All Times Videos & Features Top 4 Destinations to Visit in Upper Egypt Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Moroccan Band Teltach Drops Conscious Metal Single ‘Zidona fl'Madaris'
The track questions if progress lies in building more schools or more prisons, touching on themes of Moroccan nationalism and social injustice. Aug 15, 2025 Teltach, a Moroccan outfit dedicated to challenging the mainstream perception of rock music, just dropped a socially conscious metal track titled 'Zidona fl'Madaris'. The track questions if progress lies in building more schools or more prisons, touching on themes of Moroccan nationalism and social injustice. Through provocative lyrics in Darija and a blend of metallic rock with punk aesthetics, the track serves as a raw, bold and rebellious commentary on the country's systemic corruption and politics. The track marks the first single from Teltach's upcoming debut concept album, 'Dyor L'Foqara'. The music video for the track features distorted visuals of demonstrations and national uprisings, interspersed with cuts of the band performing live, and snippets of TV interviews with political figures.

The Red Sea Film Foundation has announced the jury for the fifth edition of its 48-Hour Film Challenge, naming Saudi presenter and actor Yasser Al Saggaf, Lebanese actress and director Carmen Bsaibes, and French-Moroccan filmmaker and actor Ayoub Layoussifi. All three are recognised for their contributions to Arab and international cinema, with experience in both directing and acting. Organised in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Jeddah, the Embassy of France in Saudi Arabia, Alliance Française, and the Centre for French Culture, this year's challenge will see 14 emerging Saudi filmmaking teams compete for a 2026 filmmaking residency in France. The winning films will also be screened at the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2025. Shortlisted teams took part in a preparatory workshop on July 11th and the 12th, 2025, led by Iraqi director Ahmed Yassin Aldaradji, Saudi filmmaker Ahd Kamel, and Academy member Cyril Aris. Sessions covered directing, screenwriting, and editing, equipping participants to produce a short film within the 48-hour timeframe. The completed films will be screened in September 2025 during two professional days for industry feedback and mentorship. Two winning teams will be selected based on creativity, technical execution, and storytelling impact, with team leaders receiving the residency in France.
