New York mansion hits market with awkward photos

Daily Telegraph21 hours ago
A lavish resort-style New York mansion is attracting attention after hitting the market – but for all the wrong reasons.
With 12 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, the Sullivan County residence is worthy of a gander whether you're interested in buying or not.
You could be forgiven for quickly getting distracted by the poorly photoshopped images in several of the listing photos though.

Reddit users were quick to comment on the awkwardly-placed images, which include bikini-clad women by the pool, over-posed couples on the deck and in the foyer, and a helicopter hovering over the property towards a bright red and blue helipad.
'It looks more like someone gave a kid some magazines and pair of scissors,' one said.
'That's so bad. I've seen middle school yearbook staffers do better,' another wrote.
'I love that the couple in the foyer seem to be floating. I guess it's because they have so much money?' one joked.
Some were shocked by the images, with one saying they'd be 'cranky if I owned a $10 million house and this was how it was marketed', but many others saw the humour in it.
'I 100 per cent thought the poster was being funny and photoshopped it,' one person said.
'It's kind of genius in a forced virality kind of way. I wouldn't have seen the beautiful house if not for the silliness,' said another.

One person even did some further research, discovering the agent has several listings with a 'sprinkle of clip art scattered unnecessarily through' their photos, including a truck placed on vacant land and deer by water.
'It actually worked because I scrolled his listings so maybe it's smart marketing,' they said.
Photos aside, the 1999-built mansion is impressive, with grand interiors and an enviable outdoor entertainment area.
The property spans more than 12ha and also includes a four-bedroom guesthouse and a caretakers apartment over the barn.
It is listed with a $9,999,999 price guide.

Tyra Banks makes shocking confession about ‘disgusting and erotic' addiction

Tyra Banks knows how to pick 'em. The supermodel revealed her 'disgusting and erotic' habit of popping pimples and picking dirt from other people's toes during Thursday's episode of US show Today With Jenna & Friends. 'I like to pick. I like the toe, and if it has some stuff in it, I don't mind digging it out,' Banks, who is co-hosting this week, told Jenna Bush Hager. 'But I have a kit. You have to have a kit. Some alcohol, you know. Some stuff!' When Bush Hager asked who she targets with these rituals, the America's Next Top Model alum admitted that anyone in her household is fair game, reports Page Six. 'Anyone that wants it — my mum, my friends, my man, my son,' Banks confessed, referencing her beau, Louis Bélanger-Martin. 'And then, a pimple? If you had a pimple, I would be staring at you.' Banks labelled her 'addiction' as 'disgusting and erotic at the same time,' explaining, 'It touches those parts of me.' However, the TV personality, 51, does have her limits. 'Nether regions. I'm not picking up in those,' Banks said. 'If somebody's like, 'Oh, can you check this?' I'm like, 'No … that's where I draw the line.' Chest up and knees down? It's on. I'm not popping and picking nothing [outside of] there.' The model further grossed out Bush Hager as she explained that her foot-focused obsession can get quite stinky at times. 'The toenail, because there's been stuff in there. The jam. The toe jam is up in the nail, and then you pick, and sometimes it's different colours. Sometimes it's brown, sometimes it's green,' she described. Banks has been romantically linked to Canadian businessman Bélanger-Martin since August 2018. In November 2019, we exclusively reported that the pair was taking the next step in their relationship by moving in together. 'Tyra and Louis live together but Louis always moves around a lot for business reasons,' an insider told us, adding that he and his ex-wife, Valérie Martin Scraire, have an apartment in England, a house in Barbados, and a home in Magog, Quebec. 'Louis also spends some time with his own child in England and around the world for business,' said the source. 'Tyra's child has his own room at Louis [and] Valerie's house in Magog and Tyra moved some of her stuff — clothes, jewellery — there too.'

And Just Like That: Huge announcement about SATC reboot's future

And Just Like That … the Sex and the City reboot is wrapping up. The series will come to an end with the two-part finale of the third season, which is currently airing. Ten episodes have been released, and the twelfth will be its last, as showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed on Friday, US time. The cast – excluding lead star Sarah Jessica Parker, who also serves as an executive producer – was told just one day earlier, according to Deadline. 'And just like that … the ongoing storytelling of the Sex And The City universe is coming to an end,' said King in a message posted to Instagram. 'While I was writing the last episode of And Just Like That … season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop. Along with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys and Sarah Aubrey, we decided to end the popular series this year with a two-part finale and extended the original series order from 10 episodes to 12. 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.' Following the release of King's statement, Parker took to Instagram with an emotional tribute to the character she's played for almost three decades, sharing a monstage of clips and a lengthy poem. 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,' the actress wrote. 'I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.' Parker went on to describe her work on the reboot as a 'joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work', and credited the cast and crew as being 'the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.' The sequel to the hugely popular original Sex and the City series, which ran from 1998 until 2004 and later featured two films, premiered in December 2021. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all reprised their roles in And Just Like That, although Kim Cattrall declined to take part following her widely-publicised feud with Parker. The new series also starred Sarita Choudhury and Nicole Ari Parker, along with original SATC supporting cast members including Chris Noth (albeit for one episode), David Eigenberg, John Corbett, Mario Cantone and Evan Handler. The first season saw Carrie (Parker) grappling to rebuild her life after the sudden death of her husband and longtime love, Mr. Big (Noth), while Miranda (Nixon) explored her sexuality with non-binary comedian Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) amid the demise of her marriage to Steve (Eigenberg). Season two romantically reunited Carrie with Aidan (Corbett), her ex-boyfriend from the original series, Charlotte (Davis) navigated family challenges, and Miranda moved to LA to be with Che, where things quickly between them quickly fell apart. The current run of episodes has seen NYC-based Carrie and Aidan struggle to stay together as he deals with his son's issues back in Virginia, and as she gets closer to her neighbour, a British author.

History of Broadway

Greg Jenner is joined in 20th-Century New York by Dr Hannah Thuraisingam Robbins and comedian Desiree Burch to learn about the history of Broadway. Most of us are familiar with at least one Broadway musical, from classics like My Fair Lady and the Sound of Music to new favourites Hamilton and Wicked. In the last couple of decades, high-profile film adaptations of shows like Chicago, Cats and Les Misérables have brought musical theatre to a bigger audience than ever before. But whether or not you know your Rodgers & Hammerstein from your Lloyd Webber, the history of Broadway is perhaps more of a mystery. This episode explores all aspects of musical theatre, from its origins in the early years of the 20th Century, to the 'Golden Age' in the 50s and the rise of the megamusical in the 80s. Along the way, Greg and his guests learn about the racial and class dynamics of Broadway, uncover musical flops and triumphs, and find out exactly what 'cheating out' is.
