Intergalactic Star Tati Gabrielle has been ‘Coached' about Online Gamer Backlash
Tati Gabrielle may have played Nora in the latest episode of The Last of Us , but online gamer fans know that she's going to be starring in Neil Druckmann's next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet .
With The Last of Us Part II getting so much backlash online and actresses like Laura Bailey (Abby) getting harassed on social media, Gabrielle confirms that she has been 'coached' by Druckmann about what to expect, starring as a POC lead in a AAA video game.
She tells Entertainment Weekly:
'Neil's been bootcamp-ing me… I know Troy's experience, I know Ashley's experience…I know Laura Bailey's experience.
'I got a lot of love, but there was a lot of hate over me being a woman, me being a woman of color, me having my head shaved, all these things that I didn't even actually initially see — I'm out of the social media zeitgeist for that reason — but once I did, Neil was like, 'Ignore it. No matter what, me and you, we're going to make something beautiful. We're going to make something that we're proud of.''
We don't know exactly what Gabrielle's character Jordan is going to be like in Intergalactic yet, but we know that anyone who isn't a straight, white, male protagonist is sure to draw online grifters like a moth to a flame. You bet they're going to be sicking thousands of 'anti-woke' people at anyone who makes games that 'isn't for them.'
If anything, it does look like Druckmann has learned from the experience of TLOU Part II and is ready to protect Gabrielle from any backlash she may receive. Let's just hope that Naughty Dog—heck the entire PlayStation and Sony team—have more systems in place to fight off any possible toxic backlash.
No release date has been set for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet , but fans are expecting it to come to PS5 in the next few years.

Save the Dog: Why They Cut Alice from the Last of Us Finale
The Last of Us finale had come as a shock to several viewers, but anyone who's played the game knew exactly what was coming… sort of. Fans online have been discussing all sorts of changes the series has been doing compared to the game, and a lot of fans were wondering just where Alice a.k.a. Mel's WLF-trained dog was. Since the dog was ultimately going to be killed by Ellie, showrunner Craig Mazin thought that having Ellie kill a dog would have been 'one too much' for the scene. Talking to Polygon, Mazin explains , 'There are two cardinal rules in Hollywood, one, don't spend your own money, two, don't kill a dog… Plus, because it's live action, the nature of violence becomes much more, well, graphic. It's more graphic because…it's not like there's an animation between you and it, [and] it's very disturbing.' Seeing that Ellie already kills Owen, Mel, and (indirectly) Mel's baby (plus Jessie gets shot); it was game creator Neil Druckmann who said, '…in our conversation, we're like this [is] probably one too many.' Interestingly enough, some fans were complaining that Mazin was so 'fine' with dog murder in Chernobyl , to which he actually addresses that in the interview, 'I think you get like one dog murdering episode a lifetime.' If anything, most of the audience's investment on Alice actually comes from Abby's side of the story since players get to interact and even play with her in the game. No doubt Alice will probably be introduced in the next season, but who knows, maybe it's Tommy that offs her this time. We'll just have to wait and see. Check out the complete second season of The Last of Us now streaming on HBO Max.

The Last of Us Showrunner Pitches a Breaking Bad Game
Craig Mazin was best known for his work on HBO's Chernobyl before he delivered another hit with The Last of Us series adaptation. It's no mystery that Mazin loves games, but when asked by BAFTA about what existing series he would want to adapt as a game, he says that he thinks Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad would be his pick. Mazin explains: 'It would be Breaking Bad; but I want the game mostly to be about lying to your wife and friends (laughs), so it's not a lot of action. It's mostly just Skyler starting to figure it out, and you just have to keep lying to her and Hank. Mazin continues, ' There's a meter that shows how much meth you've made that day, and also how paranoid you are, and how close other people are to figuring out the truth of who you are. I mean, I would play that game.' If you're taking the pitch seriously, this could probably work as a narrative game like Life is Strange or any of the Telltale titles; but seeing as how action-packed Breaking Bad is, I can imagine something close to GTA where you have to make drugs, distribute drugs, and fight for territory. I mean, the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe is colorful enough to turn into an open-world crime game, but will it ever live up to the series in terms of narrative? That's probably the biggest challenge with that idea. If anything, Netflix can probably just make a reskin of a puzzle game and offer that for subscribers to play. Who knows, maybe someone already came up with the idea back when the series was still coming out. For now, catch Mazin's The Last of Us Season 2 which just ended on HBO Max.

Tony Dalton was Cast in Intergalactic Because of His Work on The Last of Us
We don't know much about Naughty Dog's Intergalactic : The Heretic Prophet yet, but we do know that the game has some celebrities in the cast including Kumail Nanjiani ( Silicon Valley ) and Tony Dalton ( Better Call Saul ). While some (like myself) thought that Dalton's recent appearance in The Last of Us was because he was working on The Heretic Prophet , it's been revealed that it was actually backward, and he was cast in the game because of his work on the series. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, game director Neil Druckmann revealed that he was a fan of Dalton's work in Better Call Saul , and this was the reason he was cast as Javier Miller—Joel's dad. 'Tony Dalton was my first choice… I just loved his performance so much in Better Call Saul . I jokingly refer to him as the most charming, threatening man I've ever seen on television,' said Druckmann. As it turns out, Druckmann was so pleased with Dalton's performance on the show that he immediately just gave the Intergalactic job to Dalton. He explains, 'He immediately came to mind, and I just offered it to him on the spot.' It's not clear who Dalton is going to be playing in Intergalactic yet, but some suspect that he was a kind of mentor to the main character Jordan (Tati Gabrielle) who went missing. If Dalton's previous work is to be a reminder, he does manage to be charming while at the same time very threatening—which could be a hint to his character in the game (who I suspect is another 'Han Solo-type'). For now Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has no release date, but you can catch Dalton in the latest episode of The Last of Us now on HBO Max.
