Missing UK man Robert Kincaid last seen over two weeks ago found alive in Paris
Missing Robert Kincaid has been 'found alive in Paris' two weeks after he was last seen.
It is understood that the 38-year-old was discovered by emergency services in the French capital this morning and is currently receiving emergency medical treatment. Mr Kincaid could not be located after he missed his connecting flight at Charles de Gaulle Airport on July 17.
He had traveled from Benin in West Africa, where he had been working on an oil rig. But it has now been reported that he has been found, ending a two week search. It comes after a woman, 20, was found dead on bus with 26 iPhones glued to her body.
Mr Kincaid was initially due to travel home on July 30, but it has since been established that he left the oil rig early for reasons that remain unclear. The man, from Tullycarnet in East Belfast, had travelled from Benin and was due to board a connecting flight to Dublin, BelfastLive report.
He later told a friend he was in the airport bar after missing his flight, but when his family tried to contact him, they were met with silence. Two FaceTime calls to his phone that evening were answered by unknown individuals, one man, then a woman. Since then, there has been no trace of him.
Robert's family travelled to Paris on Wednesday to work directly with the French authorities to locate their brother, travelling across the city putting up missing persons posters. Speaking on Friday, Robert's brother Louis said: "Rab has been found by emergency services and is requiring ongoing emergency treatment. While he is not out of the woods yet, we are just glad he is alive. As a family, we would ask for privacy in the time ahead as we deal with the situation."
'When we arrived at the police station, they had no record of Robert's disappearance being reported to them, so we filed a missing persons report there and then. They kept asking us if we were sure that he was in Paris and how we knew that he was in Charles de Gaulle,' his brother Louis said previously.
According to Louis, police in Paris initially insisted Robert had never arrived in France. They claimed he had not boarded the flight from Cotonou, Benin, and had not used his passport. 'The police loaded up a laptop and said that he never got on the plane from Benin and said that he never presented his passport.
"They were adamant that he was not in Paris and told us that he had been booked on a flight from Benin to Paris last night, which was due to arrive this morning,' he said. However, the situation took a further turn when Foreign Office officials confirmed Robert had indeed boarded the original flight on July 17. His name appeared on the flight log, and his passport had been scanned.

Mum dumped baby's body in bag behind sofa after deceiving partner, court hears
WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT. Australian mum Monique Ellen Burton attempted to hide her baby's body behind the sofa in a case which has been described as "tragic on numerous levels" A court has heard how a woman hid the body of her own baby behind the sofa, after cruelly deceiving her partner. During sentencing on Friday (August 1), Monique Ellen Burton was handed a 19-month suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to one count of interfering with a corpse. The 35-year-old West Australian mum, who appeared before Perth District Court, concealed her pregnancy from Shaun Balaam, her partner of 14 years. When Balaam, who was not the child's biological father, quizzed her about whether or not she was pregnant, Burton insisted that she appeared bloated, as she was suffering from liver cirrhosis. It comes after a woman, 20, was found dead on bus with 26 iPhones glued to her body. reports that, on the evening of August 19, 2022, after Balaam had gone to sleep, Burton gave birth to a boy on the bathroom floor of her Geraldton home. After wrapping up the newborn in clothing and placing him in a plastic bag, Burton hid him behind the couch in the lounge. As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, a post-mortem examination could not determine if the baby had been stillborn. However, Burton stated that this had been the case, with Judge Darren Renton noting: "You said there was no noise from the baby and he looked like a doll." The judge also remarked that Burton's interference with the body was 'naive' and not intended to be permanent, describing it as 'an 'out of sight, out of mind' act.' The morning after Burton gave birth in secret, Balaam discovered Burton on the sofa with blood on her legs. She told him she was feeling nauseous and unwell, but still continued to deny that she'd been pregnant even after being taken to the hospital. Later that same day, Balaam returned home and began searching for a phone belonging to his mum, who'd been caring for their children at the house. It was then that he came across a black plastic bag, hidden behind the couch. Although he couldn't see what was inside, Balaam did feel a heavy, hard lump, which he suspected could have been a baby's head, given Burton's history of hiding her pregnancies. The court heard how Balaan didn't check whether or not there was a baby inside the bag, and instead wrapped it in another bag, which he placed in the freezer. Eventually, after medical tests indicated that she had indeed recently given birth, Burton confessed to hospital staff, admitting: 'I don't know what is wrong with me". On August 25, 2022, the child, referred to only as 'Baby Burton', was found in a chest freezer on the back veranda of Burton's home. Balaam told officers that he hadn't known what was in the bag or checked inside, and had freaked out at the possibility that it could be a baby. He explained that he'd put the bag in the freezer, as this is what would have been done at a morgue. After being arrested and interviewed, Burton told officers that her memory was "really fuzzy" and that she'd disassociated. Judge Renton said: "This is a tragic case on numerous levels." Taking into account Burton's depressive episodes since the tragic death of her 15-month-old son two years before, from medical complications, Judge Renton conceded that her criminal culpability was 'the lower end' of the scale, while asserting that her actions 'involved a degree of indignity towards Baby Burton'. The judge remarked that the fact that Balaam was not the child's biological father could have partly explained Burton's actions. However, she had denied that this was the reason why she kept her pregnancy a secret. Although he had some misgivings about Burton's credibility, as per ABC News Australia, Judge Renton told the court that "it seems likely that baby Burton was stillborn". It was also noted that Burton, who has expressed remorse for her actions, had hidden two prior pregnancies, with one child passing away at a young age. On top of the aforementioned guilty plea, Burton also pleaded guilty to multiple charges of fraud related to a GoFundMe campaign. This page, which was set up by a friend who'd been informed that Burton was terminally ill, had raised more than $3,000 AUD. Although Burton, who has an "adjustment disorder", had not started the campaign herself, it's understood that she had been aware that her friend intended to do so. As well as a 19-month prison term suspended for 12 months, Burton is also required to undergo a treatment program focused on personal development, psychiatric needs, and parenting. Last year, Balaam was sentenced to a 12-month community-based order over his charges.

The 26-year-old neonatal nurse is accused of abusing the babies at the André Grégoire Hospital in the Parisian suburb of Montreuil. The woman has been charged with suspected sexual assault on minors and distribution of child abuse images. Meanwhile, her partner has been charged with complicity in the sexual instigation of minors. The nurse reportedly showed up at a police station to confess after several videos appeared on TikTok warning of "a scandal in a hospital in the 93rd arrondissement". She also accused her 28-year-old boyfriend of involvement when she went to the cops earlier this week. The couple allegedly shared the clips of the horrifying crimes with each other. But these videos got leaked onto social media, bringing the appalling acts into the spotlight. Videos began circulating on TikTok claiming "two people who work with infants" were mistreating infants. After these videos went viral online, the nurse reportedly went to the police to report the shocking crimes. The appalling acts are said to have taken place in December 2024 and January 2025. And these clips have viscerally angered many people in France, with protesters making their way to the hospital on Saturday. Furious demonstrators entered the premises and demanded an interview with management, Actu Paris has reported. Families were among those who protested at the hospital. But the demonstrators were peacefully evacuated from the building without their request being granted. Two victims have reportedly been identified following analysis of the videos. The nurse, who has since been suspended from her role, reportedly indicated to cops that she had filmed the abuse and sent it to her partner. Both suspects have appeared before court since being taken into police custody. They have been placed under judicial supervision, despite the prosecution requesting pre-trial detention. An investigation into the events is ongoing. The Grand Paris Nord-Est territorial hospital group said on Friday that "this nurse worked exclusively in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Montreuil hospital", Le Monde has reported. Hospital management added that worried mothers had been calling the facility "even though they had sometimes given birth there a year ago". They said: "The actions of this nurse, if confirmed by the ongoing police investigation, are a serious personal error that the hospital strongly condemns. "They are in no way a collective service practice." The nurse was suspended as a "precautionary measure" pending the investigation. According to the Bobigny prosecutor's office, the appalling acts would have taken place in December 2024 and January 2025. While there had been speculation of a racial dimension to the alleged crime, this has been denied by the prosecutor's office. "There is no racial element in the act," they said.

I was on FaceTime call with my best friend when she was killed in a horror car crash – her screams will haunt me forever
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A YOUNG woman who was on FaceTime with her best pal when she was killed in a car crash says she'll be haunted by the memory forever. Ebony Neville heard tragic work colleague Stephanie Nye-Diroyan suddenly scream as the video call cut out. 9 Ivan Zailac and Stephanie Nye-Diroyan (right) just seconds before the fatal crash Credit: Ebony Neville 9 Stephanie, 21, was killed in the horror collision Credit: Central News 9 Ebony Neville (left) and Stephanie were best pals, having met at work months before Credit: Ebony Neville The 21-year-old then began frantically trying to call her friend back before getting into her own car and driving along the same route, eventually coming across the crash site. Stephanie, 21, was a passenger in a BMW being driven by another work colleague, Ivan Zaliac, 24, when they ploughed into a lorry at nearly 100mph on Mollison Avenue, in Enfield North London. Ebony told The Sun: "Seconds before the phone cut out you could hear the engine revving and Stephanie's scream - then it froze on her face." She added: 'I tried to ring her back - I don't know what I was thinking had happened. Zaliac - who walked free from court last month after being deemed unfit to stand trial - had been giving Stephanie a lift on October 23 2022 after they finished work at nearby second hand car dealership Big Motoring World. Ebony was ill that day and Stephanie had agreed to stop off to see her on her way home when she died. The crash happened at 7.54pm. 'It was literally a quick call,' explained Ebony. 'She worked that day - it was a Sunday - and I wasn't in. 'It was a quick catch up, really. A catch up with a friend, that's all. She was such a good friend, she'd been non-stop checking in throughout the day - but couldn't ring me until she finished work. 'We were on the phone and then it froze on Stephanie's face, and the call cut out.' Three pedestrians injured by falling rubble as van crashes through multi-storey car park wall in UK city centre She added: 'I then rang her personal phone. I also rang Ivan's phone, both were disconnected and were being put through to voicemail.' Ebony said she waited 20 minutes and was 'still ringing during this time… just to try and find out what had happened'. She rang the police and found out there'd been a 'bad crash' in Brimsdown so 'drove around'. 'It wasn't too far from my house, it was about an 11-minute drive,' Ebony said. 'The road was blocked off. I hadn't been told who was involved in the crash or what had happened. 'I wasn't allowed to know any information.' She was then directed to The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel in the East End, where Stephanie had been taken. Holding back tears, Ebony said: 'I did everything I could that day and I wouldn't change anything. I went to the hospital… I wasn't allowed to know anything without Stephanie's mother knowing first.' 9 Zailac was deemed unfit to stand trial earlier this month Credit: Central News 9 Mollison Avenue in Brimsdown where the crash took place Credit: Google Maps 9 Stephanie and her mum Nicholle Diroyan (left) Credit: Ebony Neville A screen shot she captured of Stephanie during the call, a few minutes before the crash, was shown in court. Ebony took to the stand to give evidence. She said: 'I was quite upset and ran out of the room immediately afterwards, and put myself together before returning.' Zailac suffers from amnesia and doesn't remember the details of what happened after suffering a brain injury in the collision and subsequent psychiatric issues. He had been ruled unfit to stand trial so the jury had to formally decide whether he did the act alleged, namely causing Stephanie's death by dangerous driving. The jury then found he did carry out the act. Judge Sarah Munro, KC, said Zailac will be supervised by a nominated social worker and the Hillingdon mental health team for two years. 'This is the only way your mental health can be restored in order for a decision to be made as to whether there are further legal consequences for you to face,' the judge said. Prosecutor Frederick Hookway told the court that the Crown intends to put Zailac on trial if he recovers. 'The objective of this order is for the improvement of the defendant's mental health not only for his own sake but for the future of these proceedings,' he said. 'The crown do intend to reinstitute these proceedings when and if appropriate.' Stephanie's mum Nicholle Diroyan sobbed as she read her victim impact statement at the Old Bailey on July 7. She said: 'The pain of losing her is immeasurable and every day without her feels incomplete.' Ebony, who now lives in Manchester, has launched a petition to try and ensure Stephanie's family get justice. 'There's been three years of constant delays and adjournments - and now we're told it'll be 2027 before we know if Ivan can even stand trial. 'It's the waiting. We're left in the dark.'. 'I feel so sorry for Stephanie's mum Nicholle - who's always at the court but then left frustrated each time.' Ebony added: 'We were told the jury returned a verdict in a record time. Quickest for death by dangerous driving for 27 years. 'Despite this clear outcome, family and friends are waiting for justice.' Referring to the two-year order, she said: 'It's a deterrent of the law, rather than an enforcement.' She added: 'That grievance, when everything is brought back up. I'm quite shaky on this call, it's traumatic to relive the tragic crash and death of Stephanie.' Ebony went on to say: 'Stephanie was the most lovely, genuine, outgoing person. She was there for her friends, she was there for her family. 'If anyone needed her, she'd message, she'd ring, she'd be there for you. To see her face in the newspaper in such a tragic way, and yet we're still yet to receive any justice, is so heartbreaking.' Stephanie had hired Ebony several months before, and was her manager before being promoted to the finance department shortly prior to her death. 'We became friends so quickly,' she said. 'The week before she died we were in Manchester and Nottingham, just enjoying ourselves. 'I was always going round to hers and picking her up or going for lunch break. 'Sometimes we'd get a takeaway into work and would be sitting there with 10 different Greggs items. She was amazing.' Ebony added: 'We believe she's looking down on us so proud of us all.'
