Book Lovers' Book Sale kicks off at the Southern Hills Mall
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The annual Book Lovers' Book Sale kicked off Thursday at the Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City.
The sale is taking place in the old Chuck E. Cheese location at the mall. It's being put on by the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library.
Thousands of books come from the library which were taken out of circulation or were too numerous. The rest of the books are donations from the community. Along with books, there are also DVDs, vinyl albums and audio books for sale.
Prices range from $1 to $4 for books and $2 for DVDs and audio recordings.

'We get people from all over that travel to come,' said Debbie LaCroix with the Friends of the Sioux City Public Library. 'We get book collectors, we get moms, we get teachers, we get grandmas, we get those that just love books. People looking to escape, people looking to learn. You're going to find just lots of reasons to be here.'
There is also a silent auction for a 95-book collection Louis L'Amour's works. You can bid on the books or buy the collection outright for $900.
The book sale runs until May 3.

Chris Tomlin, Matthew West announced as headliners for RiseFest
SHELDON, Iowa (KCAU) — Ready for music festivals this summer? For Christian music-lovers, there's a music festival coming to Sheldon, Iowa. RiseFest, this year, is June 20 and 21. On Friday, June 20, the main stage will feature the following artists: Matthew West, Rend Collective, Patrick Mayberry, and Allison Eide. The following day, June 21, the main stage will welcome: Chris Tomlin, Crowder, KB, Megan Woods, and a few worship services. Interested in more festivals? ‘Local Perspectives' returns to Sioux City Art Center
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Art Center is now taking submissions for Local Perspectives. All artists 18 years and older who live within 75 miles of Sioux City are welcome to submit their art. Each artist can submit up to three artworks, which can be either 2D or 3D. Each place will receive $500, $300, and $200. According to the Local Perspectives website, Local Perspectives is the 'longest running juried exhibition featuring Siouxland's creative communities.' This year, the collection will be on view October 2, 2025, through February 9, 2026. The deadline for entries is July 28, with final decisions made on August 22. The exhibit will be installed in the JET Gallery located on the third floor of the Art Center and juried by Sioux City Art Center Curator Christopher Atkins.
