Travel agent remanded over alleged threats against Malaysian couple in Japan
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman confirmed the matter today.
"The court has granted a four-day remand order for the suspect starting today until July 19," he said.
Earlier, Norhizam said that the remand application for the 36-year-old Malaysian man was submitted this morning at the Sepang Magistrate's Court in a media release last night.
The travel agent was arrested at a restaurant in Sepang yesterday following a police report lodged by the couple on Jan 28 after they returned from Japan.
Norhizam said the suspect was an acquaintance of the couple through a travel agency.
Preliminary investigations suggest the motive stemmed from dissatisfaction over the handling of a tourist trip to Japan.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a punishment of imprisonment, a fine, or both.
According to previous reports, the victim, Noornabilla Azemi, 36, who is also a tour guide, claimed she was assaulted, had her head slammed against a bed frame, and threatened with death by the suspect while at a friend's rented house in Japan on Jan 24.
The incident was witnessed by her husband, Mohamad Zhaza Mohamad, 34, who also claimed he was assaulted and lost 75,000 yen (RM2,300) in cash.

'The prosecution also failed to prove that the jewellery pawned by the accused belonged to Kamala, as her children could not confirm its ownership during testimony. There is reasonable doubt since some jewellery was still found with Kamala,' he said. 'The prosecution attempted to rely on the theory that the accused was the last person seen with the victims, setting the timeline between 7 pm on Oct 31 and 3 am on Nov 1. 'However, according to a witness, Kamala was still on the phone at 11.50 pm. How could the prosecution fix 7 pm as the starting time when the victim was still alive? This court finds that without other supporting evidence, it is insufficient to link the accused to the murders,' the judge said. M. Jaykumar was charged with the murders of K. Kamala and S. Silvaraja at a flat unit in Jalan Hang Jebat 14, Taman Ungku Aminah, between 7 pm and 3 am on Oct 31 and Nov 1, 2018. Injured Swiss climber rescued after falling during hike on Indonesia's Mount Rinjani

Building manager pleads not guilty to abduction and assault charges
SEREMBAN: A 34-year-old building manager, A. Ramrash, has pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court to charges of abducting an 11-year-old boy and causing hurt to his mother. Ramrash faces an abduction charge for allegedly taking the boy from his 43-year-old father, the boy's legal guardian, along a monsoon drain in Taman Seremban Jaya at around 5.30pm on July 13. He was charged under Section 363 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential jail term of up to seven years and a fine upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Fidha Misjedi informed the court that her team was not offering bail for the abduction charge. However, Ramrash's lawyer, Chrysandy Lai from the Legal Aid Department, requested a low bail, citing that the accused was inebriated at the time of the incident. Magistrate Saiful Sayothi set bail at RM6,500 with one surety and scheduled the case for remention on Aug 21. In a separate case, Ramrash also pleaded not guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to his mother at a house in Taman Seremban Jaya on May 13, around 6.30pm.
