Cowboys return man KaVontae Turpin arrested on marijuana and weapon charges
Turpin was arrested by police in Allen on Saturday. The 28-year-old is out of jail on bond. There is no record of an attorney for Turpin. The team declined to comment.
The former TCU standout is going into his fourth season with the Cowboys and recently signed an $18 million, three-year contract.
Turpin's TCU career ended in 2018 when he was kicked off the team after the school found out about a second domestic violence case against him. The case from New Mexico was discovered following an alleged incident with his girlfriend at an off-campus apartment in Fort Worth. Both cases involved the same woman.
The Cowboys signed Turpin out of the USFL in 2022. He had played in several satellite football leagues before joining the USFL.
Turpin secured his spot on the team by returning a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in a 2022 preseason game. He was one of the best return men in the NFL his first two years, but didn't have any returns for TDs until his All-Pro season in 2024. Turpin returned a punt and a kickoff for scores last season.
Turpin's role as a receiver has grown, and first-year coach Brian Schottenheimer, who will call the plays on offense, has indicated the speedy and diminutive player will be targeted more often in his scheme.
Turpin had career bests of 31 catches for 420 yards and scored two touchdowns last season. He had three TDs receiving and one rushing in 2023.

Burnsville High School boys volleyball coach charged with criminal sexual conduct
A Twin Cities high school boys volleyball coach faces criminal sexual conduct charges. Prosecutors allege Brooke Reinhardt, 24, sexually assaulted a 17-year-old player. Her alleged conduct was discovered after the victim's wallet was found at the home of a friend for whom Reinhardt was housesitting, a criminal complaint states. The friend said the victim "had never been in [his] residence and had no reason to be." When police interviewed the victim, he initially said he "had not spent any time with just [Reinhardt] aside from their sport." After police found texts on his phone from Reinhardt saying "he had a lot of things to delete," as well as "texts about condoms," he admitted to the criminal sexual conduct, the complaint states. Reinhardt also denied the conduct initially, but later admitted it, according to the complaint. She faces three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. Reinhardt was hired by the district in September 2023 and was listed on the Burnsville High School boys' volleyball page as the sole coach. In a letter to families, the district wrote in part, "The District is limited by state law on the information we can release regarding personnel, but please know that we have and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement regarding this matter, and will take appropriate actions as dictated by district policies and state law. Following these upsetting allegations, the school and district's immediate and primary concern is for the well-being of our students." In regard to Reinhardt's status with the school, the district said she "is a coach only and doesn't hold any other position." 80-year-old accused of killing wife with hammer in fight about doctor
An 80-year-old man killed his wife by attacking her with a hammer inside their apartment at the Leisure World community north of Washington, authorities alleged in court new court filings. Vivian Stewart Nation is charged with first-degree murder in Saturday's death of Beverly Rose Fletcher, 78. Montgomery County Police called to the scene found the hammer still on Fletcher's neck and two other possible weapons — a knife and screwdriver with blood on them — in a room nearby, according to police.
