Ohio State football player preseason award tracker for 2025
We're keeping track of all of the preseason honors and watchlists for all of the Ohio State football players entering the 2025-2026 season as they become available via announcements. For guys like safety Caleb Downs and receiver Jeremiah Smith, the list will only continue to grow, but there's more than that.
And, of course, these preseason watch lists can and will change as the season goes on based on actual production on the field, but it's a good starting point to see which players on Ohio State are expected to do big things this fall. We'll update the players and their preseason accolades as the announcements are made and as we steam ahead towards the start of the Ohio State football season.

Hawaiian DL prospect gets invite to Michigan State opener vs. WMU
Thank you for this opportunity! @MSU_Football A Hawaiian defensive lineman in the 2027 class has picked up an invite to the Spartans' season-opener against Western Michigan. Stone Ah Quin of Honolulu announced earlier this week that he received an invite from Michigan State to attend the Spartans' season-opening game against Western Michigan. Quin announced the invite via a post on his social media X account. Quin is an unrated defensive lineman in the 2027 class. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, and plays for St. Louis School. Michigan State is one of six schools to extend Quin an offer, with the Spartans handing him an offer in May, according to 247Sports. He also holds offers from California, Colorado State, Hawaii, San Diego State and UNLV. Quin didn't note in his post if he plans on attending the game or is just simply thankful for the invite. His recruitment by the Spartans will be something we want to monitor over the fall and into next year. Michigan State football extends official offer to legacy LB commitment
Michigan State football has officially extended an offer to a legacy commitment. Adam Shaw of Hillsdale, N.J. announced on Saturday that he's received his official offer from Michigan State. Shaw -- who flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Michigan State in June -- shared a post on social media X about the official offer from the Spartans. August 1 is the first day for schools to extend official offers to prospects in the 2026 class. Shaw is a three-star linebacker prospect, with a recruiting rating of 88 in 247Sports' rating system. He ranks as the No. 44 linebacker and No. 16 player from New Jersey in the 2026 class. Shaw is a Spartans legacy, with his dad, Scott Shaw, playing for Michigan State in the 1990s. Michigan State is one of nearly 20 schools to offer Shaw, according to 247Sports. He was notably being recruited by Rutgers, Pitt and Michigan State before selecting the Spartans. CBS Sports predicts Michigan State football's first loss of the 2025 season
Who will be the Spartans first loss of the 2025 season? Brad Crawford of CBS Sports has an answer. Crawford recently released his projected first loss for every Big Ten team, and the Spartans' first defeat of the season is not all too surprising. Crawford sees Michigan State's first loss coming out in Los Angeles during the Spartans' first road trip of the season at USC on September 20. This is also the Spartans' first Big Ten game of the season. Here's what Crawford had to say about Michigan State: "The Spartans will go as far as Aidan Chiles can take them, as long as the defense holds up. Barring an early stumble, a potential season-defining Week 4 clash in Los Angeles could turn the tide for Jonathan Smith's first season -- though winning at the Coliseum won't come easy." With Crawford predicting the Spartans' first loss coming at USC, this would mean he believes Michigan State will open the season 3-0 with a perfect non-conference record. That is notable because the Spartans host Boston College during a marquee week two matchup from Spartan Stadium -- which I personally consider a make-or-break game for the 2025 season.
