Royal tour reflects concern of the royal institution for the people - Mohd Na'im
PUTRAJAYA: The intention by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, to embark on a 'Kembara Diraja' (Royal Tour) across the federal territories to meet the people and distribute zakat (tithe) reflects the love and concern of the Royal Institution for the people, especially the poor, needy and vulnerable.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said this was conveyed by Sultan Ibrahim in his Royal Address at an investiture ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty's official birthday celebration at Istana Negara yesterday.
He expressed his gratitude for the message and pledged his full commitment to supporting and realising His Majesty's noble wishes.
'The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will work closely with the Prime Minister's Department and relevant agencies, including local authorities, to implement this special programme in phases,' Mohd Na'im said in a post on his official Facebook page today.
He said the main objective of the Royal Tour initiative is to personally deliver zakat to the poor and needy, assess the actual needs of the people through a grassroots and people-friendly approach, enhance the effectiveness of the zakat distribution system, and strengthen the bond between the Royal Institution and the rakyat.
'Indeed, the concern and compassion shown by His Majesty serve as a meaningful source of inspiration to all leaders and agencies, for them to uphold the values of compassion, social justice and the culture of giving in our society.
'Daulat Tuanku, May Allah SWT bless His Majesty's reign, grant strength and wisdom for His Majesty to lead the nation and its people,' he said.

TH assigns companions to 37 ailing pilgrims under PENEMAN initiative
ARAFAH: Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has assigned companions to selected 37 ailing Malaysian pilgrims not accompanied by their family members during the Masya'ir phase under its Program Prihatin Tetamu Ar-Rahman (PENEMAN). Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the PENEMAN companionship initiative manifests TH's ongoing commitment to protecting the welfare of Malaysian pilgrims, particularly during wukuf, a defining moment of the haj journey at Arafah. 'A staff member will accompany each physically challenged pilgrim. These companions will not only assist with physical needs such as using the restroom and mobility but also provide spiritual guidance and support,' he said after visiting Malaysian pilgrims at their tents here today. Mohd Na'im explained that the selected pilgrims are elderly individuals as well as those facing difficulties in managing themselves and do not have family members to assist them throughout the pilgrimage. Mohd Na'im said the PENEMAN initiative involves 38 TH personnel, comprising 27 women and 11 men, tasked with providing dedicated care and assistance to each ailing pilgrim throughout the pilgrimage, particularly during their time in Arafah. 'This year saw a slight decrease in the number of pilgrims participating in the PENEMAN to 50 pilgrims during last year's haj season,' he said. He also praised the dedication, patience, and sincerity of the companions in fulfilling their duty to assist this high-risk group of pilgrims. Zaimah Abdul Majid, 60, whose mobility is restricted due to her swollen legs, appreciated the TH initiative in providing dedicated assistance for pilgrims in need of extra support. '...I am grateful to have been selected to participate in this programme. Under the programme, the young staff members provide extensive assistance, including helping me to the restroom. I appreciate all the support given,' she said. The Saudi Arabian government has announced that Wukuf Day falls on Thursday, the 9th day of Zulhijjah (June 5), followed by the celebration of Aidiladha on Friday, June 6.

Malaysian disabled pilgrims receive essential support during haj
MECCA: Disabled pilgrims from Malaysia could perform essential haj rituals with the assistance of companions provided, says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. He said this during his visit to Malaysian pilgrims' tents on the plains of Mount Arafat on Thursday (June 5). About 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims are currently among two million pilgrims performing the Wukuf at Arafat (stopping at the plains of Mount Arafat), the most important ritual of the haj. "I had the opportunity to visit the tent housing pilgrims under the Prihatin Tetamu Ar-Rahman (Peneman) programme. "38 personnel (27 women, 11 men) from Tabung Haji were entrusted with managing the selected Malaysian pilgrim's needs throughout the Masyair phase of haj (from 8 to 12 of Zulhijjah in the Islamic calendar)', said Mohd Na'im. He explained that selected pilgrims consist of the elderly, those who need assistance and those who are without a companion. He added that the pilgrims selected for the programme have gone through several screenings and interviews conducted by Tabung Haji. "Thank you to the Peneman officers for sacrificing their time and energy to ensure that all the infirm pilgrims can complete their haj," said Mohd Na'im. He stated that most of the pilgrims were doing well and were either resting or performing voluntary acts of worship while waiting for the time of wukuf, which was a few hours away. "The journey to Arafat yesterday went very smoothly. "The pilgrims are generally satisfied and relieved to have arrived in Arafat and are ready to perform the haj rituals: wukuf, overnight stay in Muzdalifah and stoning of the Jamrat," said Mohd Na'im. Mohd Na'im would also be presenting the Arafah sermon of Malaysia during the noon prayers.
