Blake Tillery announces campaign running for GA Lt. Gov., visits Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Georgia State Senator Blake Tillery (R) kicked off his campaign on Monday to be the next lieutenant governor of Georgia, joining the several candidates running for the position in the state. Tillery made a stop at Daniel Field Airport on Aug. 11 as part of his stat-wide flyover tour to voice why he believes he makes the best candidate for the office. He said if he's elected, he would make changes for the better. 'One of the big things that I want to do is eliminate Georgia state income tax,' Tillery said. 'I believe that Georgia families are feeling the pinch at the pump. They're feeling the pinch at the grocery store. Working families are definitely feeling the pinch on child care. And if we can eliminate Georgia state income tax, we can give them a five percent raise overnight.' Boys & Girls Club of Greater Augusta get major funding for summer camp

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- SRP Federal Credit Union will be presenting a big check to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta to help fund its summer camp. It is for $25k, and it is funding the Oasis Club Summer Camp where it will cover everything the camp provides. The Oasis summer camp host almost fifty kids and this check helps families who couldn't afford to pay for summer camp. The VP of development for Boys and Girls Club of Greater Augusta, tells me what else this SRP check supports. 'Breakfast and lunch, as well as healthy snacks throughout the day. Any of those field trips that they want to go on. Sports and athletic programing. Any access to additional resources that kids need in order to have good mental and physical and emotional health and well-being. Academic support. Because we don't want any of our youth to suffer learning loss while school is out for the summer. So it's all of the things,' said Catherine Centre. If you would like to register you would need to call the Boys and Girls club as they do have a wait list. Today's check presentation is from 1-2pm at the Oasis VIP Great Futures Academy on Deans Bridge 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
