Disneyland Offering Limited Time Freebie Experience in Hidden Gem Attraction

Disney California Adventure is about to be home to a limited time freebie experience. This is an update to an earlier version of this article that incorrectly reported that a now closed part of this space would be used for this offering.

Disneyland Bringing New Offering to Animation Building Space
Starting August 29, while supplies last, there will be a Disney Lorcana Collection Quest activation in Sorcerer's Workshop inside the Animation Building at Disney California Adventure. Disney Lorcana is a trading card game where players ("Illumineers") use six types of magical ink to summon versions of Disney characters ("Glimmers"). The game involves collecting cards, building decks, and strategically playing against opponents.
During the Disney Lorcana Collection Quest activation this summer, guests will receive a free Disney Lorcana booster pack, and they will interact with other guests to find and trade cards. This activity will be free to all guests in the park. After they complete their quest, they will receive a Belle, Accomplished Mystic card. This card is the first of a new type of "Magical Places" promo card, signified by a castle turret symbol, which is exclusive to select Disney-owned and operated locations.
The experience is being offered inside the Sorcerer's Workshop, which is part of the Animation Building experience. Here you can learn to draw a favorite Disney character, meet Anna and Elsa from Frozen, check out Turtle Talk With Crush, or learn to draw in the Sorcerer's Workshop. You should also generally check out the lobby, seen above, to experience some amazing film clips and raw animation from the Disney movies. This is a great place to escape the summer heat.
We previously inaccurately shared a report that this new Lorcana offering would take place in the now closed Beast's Library in the Animation Building. We can now report that the Beast's Library space will NOT be used as part of this offering.
The Beast's Library in the Animation Building used to be a space where guests could sit and take a quiz to see which Disney character they were. The room would occasionally shift in atmosphere, with lighting changes and other effects that made the space come alive. This was one of our favorite hidden gem experiences in the park to escape from the crowds, and we were sad to see it close.
The experience closed back in December 2023 to become the new home of Disney Imagination Campus, which was moved from Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar to make way for the new Disney Vacation Club Welcome Center.

The details on this trading quest were first reported by @inkbornheroes on Instagram, though we have now confirmed that the event will not take place in the Beast's Library but in the general Sorcerer's Workshop. There is an easy confusion here as the Beast's Library was at one point the next room after the Sorcerer's Workshop.
This article has been updated with new information. Previously, we reported that the Beast's Library attraction would be used as the space for this limited time experience.
