Shiba Inu burn rate explodes over 57,000% as whale burns 2 billion tokens

Yahoo28-03-2025
The Shiba Inu (SHIB) burn rate skyrocketed around 57,069.02% over the last 24 hours, with more than 1 billion SHIB permanently removed from circulation in a single transaction, as per Shibburn
In a single transaction, more than 1 billion Shiba Inu was permanently removed from circulation through burn, and just days after the same whale burned, an additional 1 billion SHIB was burned in less than three days.
Lucie, part of Shiba Inu's marketing team, also confirmed that the address burned 700 BONE and LEASH tokens, expressing a deep commitment to SHIB's deflationary future.
She said, "There was another 1B SHIB burn. The address was totally the same, and 2B SHIB burned in a 3-day frame. What caught my attention? The same address also burned 700 BONE and LEASH—unstacked from ShibaSwap."
In correlation with this thesis, IntoTheBlock data revealed that SHIB's large transaction count—accounting for transactions worth $100k or more—surged in one day from 65 to 164, a +152% daily increase, hitting its 7-day peak on March 26.
Four days earlier, on March 23, the 7-day low was 23. This explosion in whale activity coincides with a 51.8% increase in daily active addresses, which indicates an increase in demand. Data from Shibariumscan confirms that the network now processes 3.8 million daily transactions, a clear sign of continued on-chain activity.
Shiba Inu, which has a market cap of $8.38 billion, announced SHIB Pay on March 25. SHIB Pay is a new crypto payment layer for merchants that features fast settlements with zero intermediaries and worldwide coverage.
In the next phase, Shib Finance is set to introduce reputation-based lending. It will also provide undercollateralized loans and private DeFi tools as part of the ecosystem developments it offers, pushing the ecosystem toward trust-based inclusive finance.
With all the technical prowess on its way, on March 16, analyst Javon Marks said that Siba Inu could explode +500% towards $0.000081. After the burn, Shiba Inu could not break past the resistance level and is trading at $0.00001424, down by over 6%, as per Kraken's price feed.

Which Cryptocurrency Is More Likely to Be a Millionaire Maker: XRP vs. Shiba Inu

Key Points XRP and Shiba Inu are two of the more popular cryptocurrencies to watch. Many investors believe XRP has the potential to disrupt the international payments system. Shiba Inu is a meme token but now has a Layer-2 blockchain solution. 10 stocks we like better than XRP › All in all, the crypto market is having a good year. There have certainly been ups and downs, given some of the volatility, but if you look back to Donald Trump's presidential election victory last November, many of the big cryptocurrencies are up significantly since then, although not all. Trump's new regulatory regime has ushered in a more welcoming environment for cryptocurrencies and businesses focused on the sector. This has made many investors more bullish on crypto's future than ever. Two of the more popular cryptocurrencies, XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) and Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB), have been on different paths, with XRP soaring since Trump's election win and Shiba Inu struggling to gain traction. Which cryptocurrency is more likely to be a millionaire maker: XRP or Shiba Inu? XRP: Can it take a share of international payments? XRP has been one of the best-performing cryptos since Trump's win -- if not the best. The token has clearly benefited from a change in leadership at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which led the agency to drop an appeal in a long-standing lawsuit against Ripple, the company behind XRP. That had clearly been an overhang on the token. And the SEC is likely to eventually approve a spot-XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) this year. Investors looking ahead to what's next for XRP should pay attention to its network and its ability to participate in international payment transactions. It can process up to 1,500 transactions per second at minimal cost. It's also part of a broadening ecosystem that includes Ripple and its more traditional financial clients, Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD, and the company's recent acquisitions of the prime broker Hidden Road, and more recently the stablecoin platform Rail. Ripple Chief Executive Officer Brad Garlinghouse is confident that XRP can attract traditional international payments from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), which lets financial institutions all over the world send payment instructions to one another. Garlinghouse has made comments on what he believes to be a high error rate at SWIFT, and he thinks there is a prime opportunity for XRP to gobble up 14% of its payment volume during the next five years. Shiba Inu: Where is the token heading? Shiba Inu has had an interesting run since its huge ascent that started in 2020. First launched as another meme token and basically a joke that's a play on Dogecoin, the token has begun to move in another direction. Sure, it's still a meme token with a powerful social following, but in 2023, the Shiba Inu team launched Shibarium. Shiba Inu started as an ERC-20 token, meaning it was built to run on Ethereum's blockchain. But because Ethereum has had congestion issues, the Shiba Inu developers built Shibarium as a Layer-2 blockchain solution, which essentially performs Shiba Inu transactions off of Ethereum's network to speed up transactions and make them less expensive. Recently, the Shibizens Twitter account, which is affiliated with Shiba Inu, posted on X that "Shibarium is more than a Layer 2 ... It is the infrastructure powering a decentralized, community-led future." The account also said that Shibarium can be used to support on-chain governance, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), decentralized autonomous organizations, and real-world uses. Certain transactions on Shibarium now also burn tokens, which could decrease Shiba Inu's huge supply over time. Which cryptocurrency is more likely to be a millionaire maker? Some may have already made $1 million if they invested in XRP or Shiba Inu in the early days, but if you're hoping to make that much by investing in them today, several things would need to happen. For XRP, it's the ability to continue to be used for international payment transactions, perhaps fulfilling Garlinghouse's prediction of cutting into SWIFT's volume. Ripple can help the cause by continuing to build out its network, which should lead to added reach for XRP. Shiba Inu will either have to recapture the hearts and minds of social media to go on a parabolic run, or prove that Shibarium has valuable real-world utility. Ultimately, I wouldn't bet the farm on either of these tokens just yet. They are still too volatile. But if I had to pick one, I would pick XRP over Shiba Inu because of its strong technical network and potential to disrupt international payments, as well as its growing ecosystem with ties to Ripple. Shiba Inu Is Sinking Today -- Is the Cryptocurrency a Buy Right Now?

Key Points Shiba Inu is falling today after an inflation report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics this morning. Producer Price Index (PPI) inflation in July was much higher than anticipated, and the data is hurting cryptocurrency valuations. Shiba Inu's valuation could face more pressure if inflation continues to run hotter than expected. 10 stocks we like better than Shiba Inu › Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) is moving lower on Thursday. The cryptocurrency was down 7.3% over the past 24 hours of trading as of 5:15 p.m. ET -- a stretch that also saw Bitcoin fall 3.9% and Ethereum fall 4.4%. Shiba Inu is seeing a valuation contraction today as a result of the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). PPI tracking showed inflation of 3.7% in July -- a level that came in substantially higher than the 3% range that economists had been expecting. Core PPI, which backs out the food and energy categories, increased at a 0.9% sequential monthly rate, the highest jump seen since 2022. The latest inflation report is making investors think that the Federal Reserve could deliver fewer interest rate cuts this year than previously anticipated. And that's prompting some significant pullbacks for Shiba Inu and other cryptocurrencies. Is Shiba Inu a buy right now? While Shiba Inu does have some development network and metaverse projects that could help strengthen its valuation case, the cryptocurrency is still a meme coin first and foremost. Along those lines, momentum for the broader cryptocurrency space and investor appetite for risky, speculative investments are two of the biggest factors that drive its valuation moves. Interest rate policy has historically been one of the biggest catalysts in that regard, with lower rates typically being far better for the crypto market. Investors are still betting that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates at its meeting next month, but a cut could come in lower than some investors are hoping, even if one does arrive. Additionally, rising inflation raises the possibility that other rate cuts may be pushed further out. With some signs that inflationary pressures caused by tariffs may be arriving after taking longer than expected to show up in the economy, investors may want to hold off on buying Shiba Inu right now and focus instead on backing cryptocurrencies and stocks with more solid fundamental valuation cases. Can Shiba Inu Reach $1 in 2025? This $589 Trillion Problem Stands in the Way

Key Points Shiba Inu delivered one of the best returns in history in 2021, but the move was driven by speculation. The cryptocurrency has lost 84% of its peak value, and it's struggling to find a legitimate fundamental catalyst to fuel upside. Investors have found a way to drive it to $1 per token, but it could take an absurd amount of time to do so. 10 stocks we like better than Shiba Inu › The Shiba Inu (CRYPTO: SHIB) cryptocurrency was created by an anonymous developer named Ryoshi in 2020. Investors piled into it hoping it would have similar success to the industry's original meme token, Dogecoin, which was soaring in value at the time. Shiba Inu rocketed higher by 45,278,000% in 2021, which remains one of the best annual returns for any asset in the history of the financial markets. It would have been enough to turn a perfectly timed investment of just $3 into more than $1 million. However, the incredible move was fueled by speculation that inevitably fizzled out, and Shiba Inu has since lost 84% of its peak value. It's struggling to build sustainable momentum because it lacks fundamental catalysts, but a series of pro-crypto policies from President Donald Trump's administration is driving some positive sentiment across the industry right now. Could 2025 be the year it stages another historic run, this time reaching the $1 milestone? There might be a $589 trillion problem standing in the way. Shiba Inu might not benefit from crypto-friendly policies Shiba Inu doesn't have much utility in the real world. It's too volatile to be considered a legitimate store of value, and according to crypto directory Cryptwerk, just 1,074 businesses worldwide are willing to accept it as payment for goods and services. Trump is making it easier for cryptocurrencies to find new ways to create value by introducing supportive government policies and by relaxing regulations, but it's unclear whether these moves will help speculative tokens like Shiba Inu. For example, the president created a digital assets stockpile to store a variety of cryptocurrencies that the U.S. government seizes as a result of criminal activity, but Shiba Inu isn't one of them. He also appointed crypto advocate Paul Atkins to run the Securities and Exchange Commission, but a lighter regulatory touch won't solve the meme token's volatile nature or its lack of adoption among businesses and consumers. The $589 trillion problem preventing a run to $1 The crypto's plentiful supply is perhaps the biggest hurdle on the path to $1. There are 589.5 trillion tokens in circulation, so at the current price of $0.000014 per token, it has a market capitalization of $8.1 billion. Simple math dictates that a price of $1 would result in a market cap of $589.5 trillion, which would make it 137 times more valuable than the world's largest company, Nvidia. The token would also be five times bigger than the annual output of the entire global economy, which was $111 trillion last year. In other words, there is simply no way Shiba Inu will ever trade at $1 in its current state. But the community is trying to carve another pathway to $1 by burning tokens, which removes them from circulation forever. Basically, when tokens are sent to a dead wallet where they can never be retrieved, the price of each remaining token should rise organically to account for the reduction in supply. Burning enough tokens will take thousands of years Based on Shiba Inu's current market cap of $8.1 billion, burning 99.99998% of the 589.5 trillion tokens to leave just 8.1 billion in circulation would, theoretically, result in a price of $1. But it would require participation from almost every holder, meaning nobody would actually make any money. To put it another way, even though each Shiba Inu token would be worth $1, every investor would have 99.99998% fewer tokens, so their net financial position would remain exactly the same. Besides, just 1.7 billion tokens were burned last month, which translates to an annualized rate of 20.4 billion. It would take 28,882 years to burn enough tokens to warrant a price of $1 at the current pace. That's a long time to wait to make no money! In summary, reaching $1 is completely out of the question for Shiba Inu in 2025. In fact, it's unlikely to happen at any point in our lifetime. Should you buy stock in Shiba Inu right now?
