Jessica Simpson's New Single Hints at Cheating Ex Seeing Another Woman After Saying Songs 'Speak for Themselves'

Yahoo07-03-2025

Jessica Simpson has said her new music is her most personal yet — and her latest song may offer new insight into the breakdown of her marriage to Eric Johnson.
Simpson, 44, released the single 'Leave' on Friday, March 7, off her upcoming EP Nashville Canyon: Part 1, two months after she announced she and Johnson, 45, are separating after 10 years of marriage.
In the lyrics of the mid-tempo track, the singer and actress addresses a former lover who has seemingly left her for another woman.
'What we had was magic/Now you made it tragic/Giving her what you gave to me/Now the well that you drink from's empty/Your weakness made me lonely,' she sings. 'Unholy matrimony/Did you do to her what you did to me? Was she on her knees?'

Simpson then sings on the chorus that she wants her partner to leave, as she'd 'rather die than let you be inside me with her on your mind.'
'I am stronger on my own/So hold on, I'm letting you go,' she sings.
Simpson announced her separation from Johnson in January, saying in a statement to PEOPLE at the time that the couple has 'been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.'
The star said the pair's three children — daughters Maxwell 'Maxi' Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11 — 'come first, and we are focusing on what's best for them.'
In an interview with PEOPLE last month, the 'With You' singer said she and Johnson continue to co-parent their kids together.

'I don't know why my heart gets tossed around but I'm one of the lucky ones. At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He's still very much a part of my life and will always be,' she said.
Simpson added that having music as a creative outlet was 'like going straight into therapy" — and that the "songs speak for themselves."
'I got thrown a real twist of fate in the middle of making this record. My heart was completely broken. I had to continue to focus on the music. Thank God, I had Nashville,' she said. "I have been through the darkest time, being held by the most light in an odd way. I've grown up so much. I can handle so much. It wasn't easy."
She added, 'I am strong — maybe I'm just meant to love a lot of people in my life.'
Simpson started work on her new EP in Nashville in the fall of 2023, and it comes 15 years after her last album. The EP will be released in full on March 21.

Man Joins Wife's Pilates Class to Prove It's 'Easy.' He Gets Humbled When He Walks Out on Shaky Legs (Exclusive)

Zach Webber filmed a skit joining his wife Liz's pilates class — but the pain was real. The viral TikTok shows Zach getting hilariously humbled while Liz skips out refreshed. He now has a whole new respect for Liz's workouts — and maybe pilates, Webber thought he was in for a relaxing workout when he joined his wife, Liz, for pilates — what he got was a viral humbling and a whole new level of respect. The viral TikTok video they posted — captioned 'It's 6:00 AM, time to prove to my wife that pilates is easy' — shows Zach walking confidently into class, and limping out with a new outlook. On the other hand, Liz skips out of the studio, declaring, 'Such a relaxing class,' while Zach stares at her in disbelief. 'Liz had been telling me about her pilates class for months, and she kind of found a passion in it,' Zach shares exclusively with PEOPLE. 'She'd been asking me to come join her. So I was like, okay, let's do it.' While the video was filmed like a comedy sketch, the reactions were the real deal. 'I did think it was going to be easier than it was,' Zach admits. 'It was surprising. It's not easy.' Even though the couple filmed the skit after class to be respectful of the other participants, the sweat and grimaces weren't just for show. 'Holding a lunge in a single position for over a minute or doing some of the stuff with the bands that I'd never done… Those were very real reactions,' Zach says. Liz could barely keep a straight face watching her husband struggle. 'I kept looking over at him being like, well, I told you,' she laughs. 'It's hard for me too… I just started in November. My core and everything has been tough getting it back. So looking over, I'm like, see, it's not just me.' Zach's biggest surprise came from the reformer machine itself. 'We did the reformer pilates, which was a big machine, and that stuff was complicated,' he says. 'Doing stuff on that machine with moving parts and cables and the ropes and all that… It was a totally new experience.' He adds, 'There was a learning curve there for sure. I was definitely slamming the carriage and all of the beginner things that are typical.' And while he's done everything from yoga to weightlifting and running, Zach says nothing really prepared him for this. 'It definitely works different muscles in a different way,' he says. 'It's refreshing and different.' Liz has been consistent with her pilates practice since their second child was born. 'I just had our second, who's now eight months old. That's when I started… and it feels so good after. I'm obsessed.' For Zach, the experience was more than a workout — it was a relationship check-in and has given him a new perspective on his wife's strength. 'Since having our second baby, she's really taken her fitness seriously… and knowing how difficult it is, she's extremely impressive,' he shares. Having Zach join Liz's class — grippy socks and all — meant a lot to the mom of two. 'We're both busy, so it meant a lot that he came out and did it with me,' she says. 'I also feel like whenever I come home from class, I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, we did this.' And he's like, 'Oh yeah,' like he gets it now.' The two have been together 16 years, married for eight, and prioritize trying new things together. 'We try to do new things like this together when we can get time for each other, even if it's something as simple as going to a workout class and getting coffee after,' Zach says. 'That kind of stuff's really important to us.' Zach hasn't ruled out joining Liz again — even if it's not a regular thing. 'If it weren't as far away as it is, because it is like a 20, 30 minute drive, I would probably be doing it more with her,' he said. 'It's a cool way to mix things up if you're stuck in a workout rut.' And for any guys still doubting pilates, Zach has one message: 'Go try it with no pre-judgment and just see if you like it.' Liz agrees. 'It's not just for the girls, too. I feel like incorporating that even once a week, a couple of times a month, is just so good… it does so many different things for you than your typical workouts.' But if you think you're just in for a spa day, beware. 'When I walked in, I was like, this is going to be even easier than I thought it was going to be,' Zach says. 'It felt so calm and peaceful… and then you start sweating like crazy and your abs are shaking and you're like, oh wait, this isn't serene.' Read the original article on People

Dakota Johnson Shocks 'Today' Show by Dropping Curse Word to Reveal Dating 'Non-Negotiable' After Chris Martin Split

After her split from Chris Martin, Dakota Johnson opened up about her "non-negotiable" when it comes to dating Multiple sources confirmed earlier this month that Johnson and Martin ended their engagement and their eight-year relationship Johnson plays a matchmaker in her new romance film, Materialists, out June 13Dakota Johnson knows what she's looking for in a romantic partner. The 35-year-old actress, who recently split from fiancé Chris Martin, is starring in the new romance Materialists alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. In the film, she plays a matchmaker, who gets caught in her own love triangle. On Monday, June 9, Johnson and Evans appeared on the Today show where co-anchor Craig Melvin asked them, 'If either of you were to engage with a real-life matchmaker, what would be the one non-negotiable for you?' While Evans, who is married to wife Alba Baptista, replied, 'Must love dogs. Gotta love dogs. If you're not a dog person, what are we doing?' Johnson had an arguably more blunt response. 'Like, not an a--h---?' she said as Melvin gasped slightly. 'That's concise,' Evans teased his costar. 'There it is. Nail on the head.' Melvin joked that NBC would have to 'clean that up for the West Code feed,' as Savannah Guthrie later noted it was proof the show didn't have a seven-second delay. Johnson laughed off the moment, not commenting on it further. Her candid thoughts come days after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had ended their eight-year relationship. "It feels final this time," a source said of the split. The couple were first romantically linked in 2017, and in 2024 an insider told PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had actually been engaged for 'years.' While the pair have split, things between the two seem to be cordial. The Coldplay singer promoted Johnson's new film during his June 6 concert in Las Vegas. 'Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!' Martin said into the mic, before adding, 'Don't forget to go see Materialists!' Additionally, Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow intends to keep up her 'close friendship' with Johnson. The Goop founder 'fully intends on maintaining that bond,' despite Johnson's split from the Coldplay singer, a source tells PEOPLE. Read the original article on People

'You were never meant to live your life on someone else's volume setting…✨ Save this for the days it gets loud. #protectyourpeace #boundariesarebeautiful #mentalhealthawareness.' Last month, Burke spoke to PEOPLE and set the record straight about her recent weight loss. She explained that living a healthy lifestyle was always a priority for her, but things changed once she entered her 40s. 'I've noticed not only my skin changing into mature skin, but also just my metabolism has changed quite a lot,' she said. 'I've noticed my feet cramping randomly if I'm not moving often. Obviously, I'm not as active as I was when I was on the show, but it's just been a whole change for me.' As someone who struggled with body image in the past, the professional dancer — who left DWTS in 2022 after 26 seasons — knew she couldn't approach her health the same way she did when she was younger. Back then she was 'obsessive' over the number on the scale. 'It would really affect my mood on a daily basis if I didn't feel like I was skinny enough,' she admitted. 'It's just not healthy.' Burke said she decided to shift her focus moving forward, 'starting from within first instead of the aesthetic of what I look like from the outside.' The former dancer found success in intermittent fasting, eating clean foods, going for long walks daily and taking workout classes with the Fitbit app. Although she hasn't kept a scale in her house in several years, Burke noted that as a result of her efforts, she's probably lost between 30 to 35 lbs. in recent months. 'I have so much more energy than I ever have,' she said. Despite feeling better than ever, Burke said she's been hurt by relentless online criticism. Her social media comments have been filled with messages accusing her of taking Ozempic for weight loss, losing too much weight, ditching her brand of promoting body positivity and more. 'I just want people to know that I'm not sick and I have never gone under the knife for anything. I didn't get a brow lift, I didn't get a face transplant. This is my body and this is how I feel best in it today,' she told PEOPLE. Read the original article on People
