This Morning's Cat Deeley 'close to tears' after receiving blood test results live on air

Daily Record17-07-2025
Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were left shocked when a doctor explained the results of their tests that really shook the pair.
Cat Deeley was nearly in tears after what was described a "nightmare" examination by medics revealed her "biological" age during Thursday's show. The host returned to her regular position on This Morning with Ben Shephard on Thursday.

It marked her last programme before the summer holidays, and the pair of presenters were left fascinated to discover the concept of reducing one's age to better comprehend health and longevity.

Dr Alka Patel, 53, outlined on the ITV show that she has managed to classify herself as a 20-year-old biologically, since a birthday represents merely "chronological age", whilst "biological age" relates more to cellular health and constitutes an "inner age".

Terming the approach "younger ageing", she clarified that it all connects to lifespan and overall wellbeing. Both Ben, 50, and Cat, 48, had undergone blood testing, which considers their general health and fitness to establish a fresh figure for them.
Former model Cat was nearly tearful as she observed the results arriving, feeling rather apprehensive about the test's findings as reported by the Mirror.

Confessing what a dreadful ordeal the examination had initially been, she remarked: "It was a nightmare for me, doctors only had to attempt it twice. I was crying. I'm a terrible sleeper, but I'm very healthy, I eat well and I drink loads of water, and I do yoga. I could be like Gary Oldman in Dracula!"
As the numbers continued to go down, Ben excalimed: "She's still going, I want a recount," and as the figure settled, an emotional Cat declared she "might cry," upon discovering her biological age was 33, making it 15 years below her actual age.
Overwhelmed by the results, especially considering her lack of sleep, she expressed: "I might cry, I might actually cry. I don't know how I've done it because I certainly don't sleep and that is one of the most important factors!"

Meanwhile, Ben was left bitter with his biological age being only four years younger, despite his keen attention to health and wellbeing. The doctor's advice to "be more Goldilocks" sparked amusement, with his co-host teasing about needing a wig and a bowl of porridge.
Ben meanwhile confessed his primary focus on fitness is for mental wellbeing, stating: "For me, the health and wellness is much more important for me mentally rather than how I feel with the physical side of things."

Having celebrated his 50th birthday in December, Ben boldly posed shirtless for a magazine cover. However, during a recent chat on ITV's Lorraine, he candidly updated fans on his health acknowledging that his body isn't quite the same as before.
The television star couldn't hide his shy response as he sat alongside the Scottish host, who displayed the magazine cover on screen for viewers.

The discussion then shifted to what it signified for Ben to feature on Men's Health's front page for the second time in his career.
"You look fantastic but I know you work so hard to maintain your health and fitness," Lorraine gushed, whilst Ben acknowledged that despite being in excellent condition, reaching middle age has made him recognise the necessity of putting in additional work.
Discussing his present health, Ben observed: "I'm very grateful to still be able to still be able to be fit and health and I know I've got various issues and my body's not quite what it used to be."

Nicola Sturgeon agrees to TV special as ex-SNP leader to be grilled on 'striking revelations' in new book

The former first minister will be quizzed by ITV News ahead of the publication of 'Frankly' next month. Nicola Sturgeon has agreed to a high profile TV interview ahead of the publication next month of her eagerly anticipated political memoir. ‌ The former first minister will be grilled by ITV News stalwart Julie Etchingham for a special programme that will be broadcast at 7pm on August 11. Sturgeon's book, Frankly, hits the shops on August 14. ‌ The interview will focus on the memoir's most striking revelations, delving into the ex-SNP leader's successes and controversies, personal insights and political flashpoints. It is being produced by the ITV News team responsible for previous headline-grabbing political interviews with former Prime Ministers David Cameron in 2019 and Boris Johnson last year. ‌ Etchingham said: "Nicola Sturgeon is quite simply one of the stand-out politicians of a generation. From her rise as a working class girl to the pinnacle of Scottish politics as first female First Minister, she has charted dizzying political heights to being hailed the most dangerous woman in Britain. In what I hope will be a revealing encounter, I can't wait to see how Nicola Sturgeon lifts the lid on her politics, life and legacy - and to find out where she heads next.' Sturgeon has declared nearly £200,000 in outside earnings since standing down from the top job in Scottish politics. Her book, Frankly, is expected to lift the lid on her nine years as Scotland's leader and the breakdown of her friendship with the late Alex Salmond. According to her Holyrood register of interest, she received £75,000 in 2023 from publishers Pan Macmillan for the first of four instalments of a book advance. ‌ Other income, including a recent £76,500 second book payment made via her literary agent and fees for book reviews, was paid to her personal company. Nicola Sturgeon Ltd also received £25,000 from broadcaster ITN after the former SNP leader appeared on a general election night results show. To coincide with publication of her book, fans of Sturgeon are being charged £75 to attend a 'meet and greet' with her later this year ahead of an interview in Edinburgh. The fee is on top of ticket prices for the event at the 2200 capacity Usher Hall which stretch to £73.95 including the booking fee. In an Instagram post, she plugged an 'evening with Nicola Sturgeon ' in the Capital in which she would reflect on her career in politics. Sturgeon, who is standing down from Holyrood next year, has been accused of being a part-time MSP since resigning as FM, with critics hitting out at her attendance record.

Charity turns to Vanessa as another devastating ordeal is confirmed in Emmerdale

Yes we see you, Vanity fans (Picture: ITV) Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) is the person Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) turns to in Emmerdale soon, as she faces a scary ordeal in the middle of her surrogacy journey. Shortly after Charity decided to try and become Sarah Sugden's (Katie Hill) surrogate, she decided not to tell Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). Of course, it wasn't long until he found out, and wasted no time in telling Charity that he thought it was a bad idea. With really no one else to talk to, Charity chatted to Vanessa about it. Despite them being exes, Charity and Vanessa are really good friends. Vanessa was able to listen to Charity, while thinking of Mack's feelings too. Mackenzie then told Charity that he's decided to support her on the journey, which left her relieved. When he arrived at Butlers though, it became apparent that Mack had just changed his view because he believes the process wouldn't be successful anyways. Mack didn't think the surrogacy was a good idea (Picture: ITV) Charity's jumped over quite a few hurdles so far – but is disaster set to strike already? In upcoming episodes, the couple go for a walk, but Charity takes a tumble and falls to the ground. At Jacob's (Joe-Warren Plant), Charity convinces herself that everything will be fine, and fails to tell Sarah about the fall. Feeling smothered by Sarah and Jacob, Charity suggests an engagement party, hoping they will focus on something else for a little while. Charity has already made quite a bit of progress in the journey (Picture: ITV) Follow Metro Soaps on WhatsApp and get all the latest spoilers first! Emmerdale: Robert and Aaron make amends, Steph exit sealed and Charity's heartache

Emmerdale spoilers for next week teased Robron could get closer, Vanity also share scenes as Charity Dingle faces 'disaster' and Steph Miligan's exit is teased on the ITV soap There's big moments ahead on Emmerdale next week, and some spoilers fans will be excited about. ‌ Robron fans will see former couple Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle grow closer again as they clear the air after past turmoil. Vanity fans will see more scenes for Charity Dingle and her ex Vanessa Woodfield, as the former confides in her friend as "disaster" strikes. ‌ There's concern amid a surrogacy plot, while a teen is clearly hiding something in a big secret. A villain takes action, another villager harbouring their true feelings is left torn and an exit is teased for one resident who is temporarily departing the ITV soap soon. ‌ Let's kick things off with Robron, as Robert is struggling to cope and considers leaving the village for good. It's Robert's sibling John Sugden, who happens to be Aaron's new husband, who persuades Aaron to go easy on his ex. There's an uncomfortable encounter at the shop, as John and Robert seem to clash again - or perhaps this time it's Aaron and Robert. Either way, John leaves and Robert attempts to clear the air with Aaron over a coffee. ‌ It's then that Robert hints he may be leaving and Aaron is surprised, while it's also clear he doesn't want that to happen. He does his best to reassure Robert and tries to get him to stick around. Telling him he's valued, he gives Robert hope as he tries to talk him round - but is Robert hoping for a reconciliation once more? Later on in the week it seems there's more trouble ahead, when Moira Dingle confronts him about her land that she recently sold to him. So has Moira uncovered the betrayal about Robert plotting to sell to Kim before he later changed his mind? It's Robert's sister Victoria Sugden who is left suspicious though, when Robert suggests they farm Annie's field together. ‌ What will she say, and will Robert stick around? Elsewhere, Charity Dingle fears the worst when she suffers a fall amid her offering to be a surrogate to her granddaughter Sarah Sugden. In upcoming episodes a procedure goes well at the fertility clinic, but next week Charity falls in the woods. She tries to convince herself that everything will be fine, and when Sarah comes home she doesn't tell her about the fall. ‌ But later as the family gather for an engagement party for Sarah and her partner Jacob Gallagher, Charity sneaks off and rushes to the toilet. As her ex Vanessa spots her outside, a concerned Charity reveals to her that she's been bleeding. Fearing the worst after the procedure, will Charity tell Sarah what's happened? We could be headed for an exit next week too as Steph's departure storyline may have been teased. Actress Georgia Jay is currently on maternity leave, and so will be having a break from filming. Next week Steph and Ross Barton give their relationship another go, after some encouragement from their loved ones. ‌ As they get closer, they officially reunite and Ross denies being with anyone else since they broke up - hiding the fact he slept with Manpreet Sharma. But when Manpreet is probed about her love life by Steph's mother Ruby later in the week, will she find out about the fling? Also next week, Dylan is in a bad way a week on from being stabbed with a pitchfork at Moira's farm. His pal April Windsor finds him in need of urgent medical attention and sneaks him into the vet surgery. Paddy Kirk stumbles across then though who patches Dylan up before offering him a room for the night. Soon villain Ray is catching up with Dylan as more about their connection is revealed onscreen. ‌ Dylan reveals a hidden bag of drugs from his backpack, while ignoring Ray's messages. Dylan is soon sneaking off for drug drop-offs, while back in the village some of the residents realise Dylan was the one intruding at the farm. When Ray eventually tracks down Dylan, Dylan turns down a job leading to the villain claiming to be cool with it - but we soon see him watching Dylan and April from a far. So what does he have planned? ‌ Finally next week, Vinny Dingle is struggling after recently trying to kiss his pal Kammy amid his wedding plans with fiancée Gabby Thomas. As he continues to question his sexuality and his true self, he does his best to bury his doubts. Aaron mistakes his pal's woes though for wedding doubts, so Vinny admits he tried to kiss someone else. Aaron urges him not to tell Gabby but Vinny is conflicted, and soon looks for answers about his sexuality - but will he find what he is looking for?
