Three ways to keep your pooch looking great without a trip to the grooming salon

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YOU can spend a small fortune pampering your dog at a pet-grooming salon. Some owners fork out thousands for this but you can keep your pooch looking great for a whole lot less money. ALWAYS BRUSHING: If your pet has longer hair, you should regularly brush its coat, according to Megan Roberts, manager and head groomer at London dog salon Mon Joli Chien, which offers pups luxury facials and paw-cures among its services. She says: 'This is the most effective way to manage shedding, prevent painful matting and distribute those essential natural oils that keep their coat gleaming.' Make sure you choose the right brush for your dog's coat type. You can choose from a slicker brush, pin brush or rake. Just a few minutes of brushing can make a world of difference. CLEAN UP: When your four-legged friend ends up mucky, you can get them squeaky-clean without pricey products. Megan says: 'Skip the expensive wipes and sprays and opt for a warm, damp washcloth for quick clean-ups. 'Coconut oil isn't just for cooking, it's a fantastic paw balm and a safe, effective moisturiser for their coat and skin. 'Repurpose an old comb for gentle de- tangling, and use a soft toothbrush to keep those teeth in tip-top shape.' NAILED IT: You should make sure your dog's claws are kept trim or they can cause discomfort and other issues. I was stunned when I got my dog back from the groomer - I think he might have been switched in the shop Invest in a good pair of nail-clippers and you can do it yourself at home, advises Megan. You can ask a vet or dog groomer for a demonstration or even look on YouTube for an online tutorial. Trimming hair at home is very tricky. If you choose to try it yourself, Megan says: 'Take your time, use blunt-nosed scissors or clippers with appropriate guards, and prioritise safety above all else.' Christine Lampard, 46, looks amazing in bikini alongside Frank on family holiday

Loose Women presenter Christine Lampard soaked up the sun in a stunning navy bikini set as she and former footballer husband Frank Lampard enjoyed a relaxing getaway in Lake Como Christine Lampard looked amazing as she enjoyed a lavish family holiday in Lake Como. The Loose Women star, 46, showed off her fabulous figure as she relaxed at the hotspot alongside former footballer husband Frank Lampard. The duo were seen chilling by the pool on Monday as Christine opted for a navy halterneck bikini to soak up the rays. The attire was paired with low-rise briefs as she also wore chunky black sunglasses. The presenter tied her hair back in a bun for the outing. ‌ Christine was later seen sporting a floral sarong as she paddled through the shallow water. Frank, meanwhile, wore light blue swimming shorts as the duo sipped fresh Aperol spritzes by the poolside. After the cool-off was complete, Christine changed her light sarong, which she tidily folded, into a navy skirt matching her halterneck top. ‌ Last month, Christine, who shares two kids with the former Chelsea man - Patricia, 6, and Freddie - admitted it's sometimes tough to have their blended family. Frank also has teenagers Luna, 19, and Isla, 17, from a previous relationship with Spanish model Elen Rivas. Christine recently admitted the family set up quickly felt normal, but admitted it wasn't always so straight forward. The duo initially hooked up in October 2009 and got married in 2015. They are approaching their 10th wedding anniversary this year, and Christine told the Sun: "It's hard for all parties, that's the truth. It can be difficult when there is emotion involved. 'You have to navigate everyone's feelings and not just think about yourself in order to try to make it a happy ship. What I would say is you can absolutely get there. Some people have awful times, but then it's brilliant." ‌ And she also admitted it was key that she "never stepped out on any boundaries" as she confirmed the importance of prioritising the kids. And Frank was also in a positive mindset about their link up. Explaining the secret to their happy marriage, the ex-England man told the Mirror: 'What keeps me and Christine going is we're there to support each other and we make each other laugh. We have a similar sense of humour. ‌ "Christine's quite sharp and we're normally thinking the same thing, so the same situations make us laugh - I think laughing together is important for a happy marriage." The duo also share a fondness of football and say that is a big factor in their relationship. While Frank's accolades are clear, winning 106 England caps, Christine co-hosts the Not Just Football podcast. In it, she discusses the sport and other subjects with TV presenters Hayley McQueen and Kelly Cates. Frank went on: "I do have a pretty good work-life balance at Coventry, but at the same time I sometimes have to be away from home and Christine takes the brunt of the parenting. We enjoy being parents together but it's important to have time together, too."
