Ryan Day's Family Gets Major News on Wednesday
Ryan Day and his family had a big year in 2024.
Day faced severe criticism after Ohio State's regular-season finale loss to the unranked Michigan Wolverines. So much so that the Ohio State program leader was forced to hire security to protect himself and his family.

But in response to this criticism, Day ultimately went on to lead his program to a College Football Playoff national championship victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this past January.
As Day now prepares for the Buckeyes' title defense in 2025, his son, RJ, is fielding offers from several programs around the nation.
RJ is a 2027 quarterback prospect from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio. On Wednesday, he announced a scholarship offer from offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon and the Syracuse Orange.
"Thank you @CoachNixon_Cuse for offering me a scholarship to Syracuse University!!" RJ wrote on X.
This scholarship offer from Syracuse marks the 13th offer of Day's recruitment so far. The 6-foot-1 QB has also received offers from Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall, Miami (OH), Rhode Island, Temple and Toldeo.

Last week, Ryan Day discussed his son's recruiting process on the ESPN "College GameDay Podcast."
'As fast as this is going, and has gone, knowing he's going to be in college in two years... It's terrifying,' Day said. "He's my best friend... He comes to games with me. We're able to share this game of football together. He's obsessed with the game, so that's been really cool."

'You know at the end of the day, when we go on these recruiting visits, I don't really care about the facilities or the weight room,' Day continued. "I just want to know who's going to help raise my son. Who are the men that are going to be around to help him become a better football player, but a better man off the field, and is actually going to care about him. I think that makes us all better coaches when you look at it like that."
Day and the Buckeyes will kickoff their 2025 college football schedule with a highly-anticipated matchup against the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 30.

On Sunday, Ohio State received a commitment from four-star running back Favour Akih. Wilder is the No. 23 edge rusher and No. 24 California prospect in the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Ohio State lands commitment from four-star DE Khary Wilder

Khary Wilder had many other top programs pursuing him but after spending a weekend at Ohio State and talking through the plan with that exceptional coaching staff, the four-star defensive end found his new home. On Tuesday, the four-star defensive end from Gardena (Calif.) Serra committed to the Buckeyes and is not planning any other visits. 'It was just seeing how much of a priority I am for them,' Wilder said. 'Spending time with coach (Larry) Johnson and coach (Ryan) Day, coach (Matt) Patricia and all the coaches, they made me feel like a real priority and like I was really wanted there and that was the place I could call home. 'It was great meeting them. It was great sitting down and hearing their plan for me to dominate throughout my college years, how they see me fitting, my skill set and what I can work on and how I can build on my game to even before I get there and while I'm there, too. 'Coach Johnson was giving me tips and drills on what I could work on now for little things about my game that I could perfect and do better.' Wilder has always had dreams of playing in the pros and the four-star defensive end who shined at the Rivals Camp in Los Angeles and will be at the Rivals Five-Star in a couple weeks is fully aware of all the success the Buckeyes have had across the board especially along the defensive line. He wants to be the next one. 'The NFL has always been the goal, that's been my dream, so seeing coach Johnson and Ohio State's track record of producing top-level d-linemen and NFL defensive ends, just seeing that really motivates me and encourages me,' Wilder said. 'If I'm a priority for them and they want me to come and they see me fitting and playing in their system and they're putting out so many NFL guys at my position, that's one step closer to my dream.' Notre Dame, Washington and UCLA were the other frontrunners but once Wilder finished his Ohio State visit, he knew what he was going to do. 'It was really hard to say no to all of them because they all spent time building a great relationship with me, reaching out, talking to my coaches and my family and making me feel like a priority, too,' Wilder said. 'It was a decision I had to make but I feel very confident in my decision with coach Johnson and coach Day and coach Patricia and their plan for me.'
