A bench, comprising Justices MM Sundresh and NK Singh, heard the matter and, commenting on the case, called it "non-miscellaneous day."
While Tharoor's counsel requested an adjournment, the complainant's advocate (BJP leader Rajeev Babbar) sought a non-miscellaneous day hearing, as per Live Law.
Justice Sundresh remarked: "What non-miscellaneous day? Let us close this. Why do you want to be touchy about all this? Let us close all this.
That way, administrators, political personalities and judges form the same group, they have sufficiently thicker skin. Don't worry."
Senior Advocate Pinky Anand responded that the matter will have to be heard anyway. Agreeing to this, the Court listed the matter to be heard on some other day. The interim order granted last year will continue.
In September 10 last year, Justices Hrishikesh Roy and R Mahadevan had suspended proceedings in Tharoor's challenge to the Delhi High Court's August 29 order, which had dismissed his plea to quash the defamation case.

Tharoor's defence noted that he had quoted from a 2012 Caravan magazine article containing an unnamed RSS leader's alleged comparison of Modi. The statement was repeated at the 2018 Bangalore Literature Festival. The counsel questioned how the remark could become defamatory in 2018 when it wasn't in 2012, noting that neither the magazine nor the original speaker were named in the complaint.
Babbar's complaint alleged that Tharoor's statement offended religious sentiments, describing it as "intolerable abuse" and "absolute vilification" of millions' faith.
The complainant stated: "I am a devotee of Lord Shiva... However, the accused (Tharoor) completely disregarded the sentiments of crores of Shiva devotees, (and) made the statement which hurt the sentiments of all Lord Shiva devotees, both in India and outside the country".
The Delhi High Court's Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta observed that the comment suggested PM Modi's unacceptability within the RSS establishment. The court determined that the remarks defamed not only Modi but also the BJP, RSS, and party members who accepted his leadership, noting its impact on the party's image and the electoral process.

BJP Telangana gears up for grand Tiranga Yatra celebrations
Hyderabad: The BJP Telangana unit has announced elaborate arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, with an emphasis on the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and Tiranga Yatras across the state. State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, addressing the media on Monday, said that the Government of India has been promoting the Har Ghar Tiranga program nationwide for the past five years. This year marks the sixth consecutive year of the initiative. The program encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in activities that foster a spirit of patriotism. 'In Telangana, we are organizing these events on a massive scale with the participation of state government bodies, voluntary organizations, educational institutions, and other groups,' Rao said, adding that preparations are already underway in every district and mandal. A state-level committee was formed under the leadership of the BJP Telangana State Vice President, Dr. Manohar Reddy, to oversee the Independence Day events. Assembly ratifies revocation of suspension of 18 BJP MLAs
Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday ratified the decision to revoke the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs. A motion to this effect was moved by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil, which was approved by the Assembly with a voice vote. On May 25, Speaker U T Khader had announced revoking the suspension of 18 legislators following a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Leader of Opposition R Ashoka, and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil. In an unprecedented move, 18 BJP MLAs were suspended for six months from the Assembly on March 21, for showing "indiscipline" and "disrespecting" the Speaker, following which they were forcefully evicted from the House by the marshals as they refused to leave. The MLAs whose suspension has been revoked are BJP chief whip Doddanagouda Patil, former Deputy CM C N Ashwath Narayan, S R Vishwanath, B A Basavaraju, M R Patil, Channabasappa, B Suresh Gowda, Umanath Kotyan, Sharanu Salagar, Dr Shailendra Beldale, C K Ramamurthy, Yashpal Suvarna, B P Harish, Bharath Shetty, Dheeraj Muniraju, Chandru Lamani, Muniratna and Basavaraj Mattimud. Patil moved a motion seeking the Assembly's approval to withdraw the resolution suspending 18 BJP members from the House for 6 months, during the 6th session (held in March), with effect from May 25. Following this, the motion was put to a voice vote and then unanimously approved. The Minister said the suspension was revoked after Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, R Ashoka, had requested the Speaker to withdraw it. He also spoke to the Chief Minister and other senior leaders. The suspended members had also submitted a petition expressing regret. "Considering all this, a meeting was called by the Speaker (on May 25), and it was decided to withdraw the suspension of MLAs immediately so as to enable the MLAs discharge their duties, and to get this decision ratified during the session," he added. The incident leading to suspension had occurred on the last day of the assembly's budget session; following the massive protest of BJP MLAs against 4 per cent reservation to Muslims in public contracts and demanding a judicial probe into alleged "honey-trap" attempt against Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna.
