PETALING JAYA: Young mixed doubles shuttlers Wee Yee Hern-Chan Wen Tse celebrated a career milestone by clinching their first title together in the Thailand International Series.
The 20-year-olds Yee Hern-Wen Tse, who only combined early this year, pulled off an impressive 22-20, 21-16 win over world No. 64 home pair Ratchapol Makkasasithorn-Nattamon Laisuan of Thailand in Korat on Sunday (Aug 10).
It was a good breakthrough for world No. 144 Yee Hern-Wen Tse, who are seen as future pair for the country.
The duo were only competing in their second tournament together after reuniting following a brief split when Wen Tse was combined with Chen Tang Jie.

'We prepared well both physically and mentally for this tournament,' she said. 'The key to our win was staying focused, communicating constantly and sticking to our game plan.' Yee Hern-Wen Tse were only competing in their second tournament together after reuniting following a brief split when Wen Tse was combined with Chen Tang Jie. Spurred on by the win, Wen Tse is next out to break into the top 50 in the world rankings with Yee Hern. The world No. 144 Malaysians stunned Thailand's world No. 64 Ratchapol Makkasasithorn-Nattamon Laisuan 22-20, 21-16 in just 33 minutes in Korat on Sunday to claim their first title together. It was their second win over the Thai pair, following victory at the Sri Lanka International Challenge in February. Wen Tse, 20, was delighted to lift her first title alongside Yee Hern, 21, and is determined to keep the momentum going. "I'm really happy to win my first title with Yee Hern," she said. "This is just the beginning for us, and we'll keep working hard to win more. "Hopefully, we can break into the world's top 50 this year and add more titles." Their success is even more impressive as it was only their second tournament together since reuniting earlier this month. Earlier in the year, Wen Tse had partnered Chen Tang Jie, reaching the semi-finals of the Taiwan Open before a first-round exit at the Malaysia Masters in May. This is Yee Hern-Wen Tse's second win over the Thais in three matches since they first crossed paths in the Sri Lanka International Challenge 2025 last February.
