Yahoo20-03-2025

Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena were separated months before Baena's death, according to a medical examiner's report.
Plaza, 40, and Baena, 47, separated in September 2024, and a month later, Baena made "concerning remarks" to Plaza that "prompted her to call a friend to perform a welfare check on her husband," according to a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, which was obtained by PEOPLE.
Following the welfare check in October 2024, Baena had been going to therapy. The documents detail how Baena had been "experiencing recent marital difficulties" with Plaza. The writer-director died by suicide on Friday, Jan. 3.
Plaza last received a text message from Baena on the day of his death at 10:36 a.m. ET. The report stated that Baena's body was found by his dogwalker, who entered the residence and discovered Baena's body.
Following Baena's death, Plaza and the family of her late husband called his passing as an "unimaginable tragedy."
'We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time," a statement to PEOPLE read.

Baena had more than a dozen directing and film credits to his name. Notably, he made his directorial debut by writing and directing Life After Beth, a zombie comedy starring Plaza, and then created an anthology series titled Cinema Toast, which aired on Showtime in 2021 and marked Plaza's own directorial debut.
He met and started dating Plaza in 2011. Fans learned that the two had tied the knot in May 2021, when Plaza, 40, referred to Baena as her "darling husband" in an Instagram post.
A rep later confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple had tied the knot.
'I think that one of the great things about our careers is that we are forced to be independent, take little breaks, go off and do our things and come back," Plaza said about their relationship in a 2019 interview with PEOPLE. "So it's kind of fun. Nothing is ever the same. You don't want to spend too much time a part. But I think that there's a way that it can work and there's a balance in that.'

Brad Pitt Insisting Ex Angelina Jolie ‘Get a Better Grip' on Their Big Brood

Angelina Jolie's son Pax looked worse for wear during a recent night out with friends in L.A. On May 31, the 21-year-old was photographed being propped up by his pals as the rowdy crew made their way from celebrity hotspot Chateau Marmont to a strip club on Hollywood's notorious Sunset Strip, where they partied until the wee hours. At one point, Pax looked as if he could barely stand as he clung to two members of his group, wavering on a street corner. The Oscar winner's middle son is getting a rep for reckless behavior. At least twice he's crashed his e-bike while speeding along L.A.'s busy streets — without a helmet — needing to be hospitalized after a collision last July. (An insider tells Star, 'a lot of people have told him it's lunacy, that he must have some type of death wish to be so negligent.') For Angelina, it's a conundrum. 'Like any parent, she worries that Pax will fall into the wrong crowd or drink too much,' says the source. Yet the 50-year-old, a former wild child herself, has always prided herself on being a supportive but hands-off mother to Pax and his five siblings (she and ex-husband Brad Pitt share Maddox, 23, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox). Now the source says Brad fears his ex is losing control of their big brood — revealing another bone of contention in their bitter split. 'He's insisting Angelina get a better grip,' says the source. 'But she isn't going to listen to him and his concerns.' Angelina doesn't feel like she has much of a leg to stand on when it comes to reining the kids in — she was no stranger to trouble as a young adult. In a November 2011 interview with 60 Minutes, Angelina opened up about going through 'heavy, darker times' in her life. 'Angelina used to restrict Pax when he was younger but now that he's 21, there's not much she can do,' says the source. 'Besides, she did plenty worse than he did when she was his age, so she's wary of coming across like a hypocrite.' She also brought up the children to be free spirits. They spent their formative years traveling the globe. In 2021, the Maria star — who once said she'd rather they focus on outdoor adventures than homework — revealed to E! News' Daily Pop that she was scared of parent-teacher conferences. 'I have a problem with schools because I was always in trouble in school,' she admitted. 'I have PTSD.' When it comes to Pax, there's not much Brad can do. Adopted from Vietnam, Pax spent his early years in an orphanage before Brad and Angelina brought him home in 2007. Among all of the kids, he's been the most vocal about siding with his mom in the couple's nasty, years-long divorce and custody battle. (The family unraveled after a 2016 incident on a private plane. Angelina accused a drunken Brad of attacking her; now sober, Brad has denied all allegations.) In 2020, he reportedly slammed Brad in a since-deleted Instagram post, calling him 'world class a**hole.' The source says the 61-year-old 'still loves him dearly' and believes the children 'have been given way too much freedom way too soon,' by their mom. (Until age 18, he still has legal access to the twins.) In another blow to the F1 actor, Shiloh, one of several of the kids who have dropped 'Pitt' from their name, has further altered her moniker. The teen debuted her new name, 'Shi Joli,' in a press release about a dance she choreographed for an Isabel Marant/Net-A-Porter fashion show May 29. According to the source, Shiloh 'is still trying to find herself. Growing up in the spotlight was tough on her and she found her parents' divorce traumatic.' Angelina is taking a backseat approach for now and hoping the kids find their way eventually. Zahara is off at Spelman College ('she's very keen to spread her wings and travel,' says the source) while Maddox (who Angelina described as 'smart … but also wild' in 2019) lives in Angelina's Manhattan apartment (she said in March all the children use it as a 'crash pad'). 'Angelina is happy for them all to try new things and thinks it's healthy for them to experiment. She has zero doubt they'll go on to achieve great things in their lives.'

Mom Thought Her Toddler Was Just Playing. Then Something Caught Her Eye (Exclusive)

One evening, Alex Moore was playing with her 23-month-old daughter, Addy They were being silly and listening to nursery rhymes when all of a sudden, Addy started dancing Alex watched as her daughter slid off the bed and began doing little high-kick stompsAlex Moore and her husband, Christian, both work full-time. So after wrapping up their workdays and picking up their daughter from daycare, the North Carolina-based couple likes to wind down by laying in bed to decompress. One evening, Christian went to make dinner while Alex stayed back to play with their 23-month-old daughter, Addy. They were being silly and listening to nursery rhymes when all of a sudden, Addy started dancing. Alex watched as her daughter slid off the bed and began doing little high-kick stomps. "I had no idea what she was doing until she said 'cha cha??' " Alex, 31, tells PEOPLE exclusively. Alex goes on to explain that her daughter learned the "Cha-Cha Slide" by DJ Casper at daycare. She says her teacher, Ms. Mikaila, plays the song often and has been teaching the kids the steps. Although Ms. Mikaila had previously sent Alex videos of Addy dancing along to the "Cha-Cha Slide" at daycare, this was the first time she had seen her daughter perform some of the correct steps in person — especially the stomping and the 'hands on your knees' move. "She was walking around stomping her feet with almost a high-kick fashion, and I kept giggling because I'd never seen her stomp like that before," Alex, a aesthetics technician, says. In the moment, Alex pulled out her phone and recorded the sweet scene. Later, she decided to post it to TikTok, thinking, 'This is too good to not share with more people.' But then, the video quickly went viral, amassing more than 7.4 million views and 13,000 comments. "I knew she was demanding the cha cha slide at daycare' is in incredible statement in itself 😭," one user wrote. "and it is already knows her left and right ✅️❤️," someone else replied. Another person commented, "That's actually so impressive that she knows the cha cha slide at her age .. what an icon." Reading through the comments, Alex says she couldn't help but smile. "The kind of responses I've received from the video are the exact ones I was hoping," she says. " 'This made my day, thank you so much.' It was an added bonus to hear that my daughter could excel in a dance class, because what parent doesn't want to hear that their child has a knack for something?" "My daughter brings me so much joy every day, so I really loved that I could do that for other people," the mom adds. "Also hearing from other daycare employees that they'll start implementing the song into their classrooms for teaching directions, and dance teachers that she has amazing skills for her age — that feedback really stood out to me the most." Since her daughter is so young, Alex knows won't remember much from this time, but in teaching her about it in a few years, she hopes her daughter realizes that she made a lot of people smile when they felt like they couldn't. "Addy has taught me that children truly are like flowers: when they're given a loving environment, taught things with patience and in a fun way, they can blossom into the best versions of themselves," she says. "Along with truly being able to dance your little heart out when you feel it!" Read the original article on People

Sabrina Carpenter gets cheeky as she announces new album, ‘Man's Best Friend'

Sabrina Carpenter sure has been a 'Busy Woman.' Just a year after releasing 'Short n' Sweet,' the 'Espresso' singer has another album on the way. Carpenter took to Instagram Wednesday morning to announce 'Man's Best Friend,' due Aug. 29, along with its sultry (and divisive) cover art featuring the singer on all fours in front of a man pulling her hair. She also posted a close-up image of a dog whose collar is emblazoned with the album title, highlighting the cheeky play on words. Carpenter gave fans a taste of the new project last week with 'Manchild,' a twangy synth-pop track that sees the singer questioning, 'Why so sexy if so dumb? / And how survive the Earth so long?' Written with Amy Allen and Jack Antonoff shortly after finishing 'Short n' Sweet,' the single has been compared to her songs '15 Minutes' and 'Busy Woman,' released earlier this year. 'It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer,' Carpenter said of 'Manchild' on Instagram. 'Hence why i wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!' 'Manchild' is accompanied by a playful music video that shows the singer hitchhiking with various incompetent men and bathing with pigs in her bra and underwear. Fans have also been quick to point out that the dog in the video may be the same as the one in the album announcement. While not much else is known about the album, Carpenter sifted through ABBA, Donna Summer and Dolly Parton records during an Instagram Live Wednesday morning, hinting at her possible influences, according to Variety. The singer notably covered the Weather Girls' '80s hit 'It's Raining Men' during her headlining set at Primavera Sound Barcelona last weekend, where she also performed 'Manchild' live for the first time. This fall, Carpenter is set to return to North America for another leg of her Short n' Sweet Tour, finishing with six nights at Los Angeles' Arena on Nov. 16, 17, 19, 20, 22 and 23. Perhaps fans can expect some new additions to the setlist.
