Severely decomposed body of 70-year-old Singaporean man found in Batam home
SINGAPORE: The severely decomposed body of a 70-year-old Singaporean man was found in his home in Batam, Indonesia. Local police has revealed that the man passed away about five days ago and has contacted his wife, who resides in Singapore.
The body of the Singaporean, Mr Kamal Bin Ahmad, was discovered around 4pm on Saturday (7 June).
Indonesian news outlet TribunBatam reported that Mr Kamal's neighbors said they hadn't seen him for nearly a week and began to smell a pungent odor coming from his home. They alerted the security guard, who called the police.
The police broke into the home and found Mr Kamal lying on the floor, wearing only a shirt.
The Indonesian police said that Mr Kamal suffered from chronic diseases and lived alone in the area. The police found a variety of medications in his home, including drugs to treat diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
The police do not suspect foul play but are awaiting the autopsy results to confirm the cause of death. The local police has contacted Mr Kamal's wife and has urged her to come to Batam to handle the funeral arrangements.

The DPP said that the pair later went to the stairwell at around 6.30pm that day, adding: 'There, the accused persuaded the victim to allow him (to touch he r chest ) for 10 to 15 minutes for $50. After 10 minutes, the timer that the victim had set rang, and she stopped the accused.' But at around 6.45pm, Kok sent the girl a message asking how she felt when he touched her. He invited her to his home later that evening, offering her $50. She turned down the offer, said the prosecutor. Undeterred, Kok invited the girl to his home again at around 11am the next day. She replied that she was in school at the time. DPP Yeo said: 'Later... the accused asked the victim what time she would be able to go to his house the following day. The victim asked him to pay the amount that he owed her from their first arrangement and promised to send him nude pictures of herself when she got home from school.' However, Kok replied that he wanted 'real action', and the girl later blocked him on WhatsApp. He then deleted her number and their chat log as he did not want his wife to find out about what he had done. Without revealing details, the prosecutor said that the mother of one of the victim's online friends later found out about the incidents. The woman alerted the police in February and Kok was arrested the following month.

'So cruel': Singaporean man gets 72 years' jail, caning for murder and dismemberment of wife and stepson in Malaysia, Malaysia News
A Singaporean man who brutally killed his wife and stepson in Melaka was sentenced by a Malaysian court to 72 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane on Monday (Aug 18). Shahrul Nizam Zuraimy, 36, had murdered and dismembered his wife Norfazera Bidin, 27, and his 11-year-old stepson Muhammad Iman Ashraf between 6pm on Oct 6 and 7.30am on Oct 7, 2019, at a house in Taman Merdeka Jaya in the Melaka Tengah district. He hid their severed heads, dumped some body parts in a bush, and cleaned the house before fleeing to the Republic. He was later arrested in Singapore and handed over to Malaysian police, according to the New Straits Times (NST). In court on Monday, the prosecution and victim's family asked for Shahrul Nizam to be given the death penalty. But he was spared the gallows by Judge Datuk Anselm Charles Fernandis, who sentenced him to 36 years in prison and 12 strokes of the cane for each of the two murder charges. His jail sentence will run consecutively and is backdated to the date of his arrest on Oct 11, 2019, reported Bernama. Victim's family breaks down in court Norfazera's mother Fatimah Latiff broke down in court on Monday while delivering her statement, asking for Shahrul Nizam to be hanged, reported NST. "A heartless person, so cruel to kill my daughter and grandson. He cut up their bodies like chickens," the emotional woman said. "A life for a life, Your Honour. I want justice for my daughter and grandson." Norfazera's elder sister, Munira Bidin, similarly pleaded for the courts to impose the death penalty, adding that Norfazera's younger son often asks about his deceased mother and brother. The prosecution had sought either the death penalty or consecutive jail sentences, reported Bernama. The defence appealed for the Singaporean, who worked as a grass cutter, to be jailed instead of hanged, saying that he had repented and regretted his actions and had exhibited good behaviour in prison. Girl, 14, among 3 injured after minibus falls into Bukit Panjang monsoon drain

SINGAPORE - Three people were taken to hospital after a minibus fell into a monsoon drain near the Senja-Cashew Community Centre in Bukit Panjang on the afternoon of Aug 19 . Responding to queries from The Straits Times, the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident near the junction of Bukit Panjang Road and Bukit Panjang Ring Road at about 1.10pm. The accident involved a bus and a mini-bus, police said. Three people were brought to safety after SCDF officers used a ladder to access the drain. A 68-year-old male mini-bus driver and his two female passengers, aged 14 and 53 , were taken conscious to hospital, police said. Two of them were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and another was taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital . A mini-bus fell into a drain near the junction of Bukit Panjang Road and Bukit Panjang Ring Road on Aug 25.
