Vice chairman Ghanshyam Tewari chaired the proceedings at noon which began with the members resuming their protest. He called Vivek Tankha (Congress) to ask his supplementary question but the member spoke on the SIR. Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tried to reply to the listed question but as the slogan shouting continued, Tewari adjourned the House till Monday.

The bill to extend the President's rule in Manipur under Article 356, which has been passed by the Lok Sabha, will be taken up. Two hours have been allocated for discussion on the issue. The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 will also be discussed. The government had issued an ordinance on it in June.

Bengaluru: Rahul Gandhi's claim about a family of voters being fake has turned out to be false. Preliminary verification by the Election Commission in Bengaluru has confirmed that the individuals in question are genuine voters, sources revealed on Friday. Rahul Gandhi had alleged that a family of three -- one male and two females -- were fake voters based on the fact that he was unable to view their photographs. However, images of the three individuals, along with their GPS-tagged address, have since surfaced on social media. The photograph shows the family members displaying their Voter ID cards at their residence located on 2nd Main, JCR Layout, Panthur, near Kadubeesanahalli in Bengaluru. The three members of the family are Om Prakash Bagri, Saraswati Devi Bagri, and Mala Bagri, the ECI sources said. Sources said the reason the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka asked Rahul Gandhi to personally submit an affidavit was due to his previous tendency to disown the allegations he made against the Election Commission of India (ECI). 'The reason for asking for a declaration this time is that in the past, he has never submitted any self-signed letter. Whatever reply we provide is sent to some other entity, and each time he disowns it,' the sources stated. Officials from the ECI also pointed out that Rahul Gandhi had referred to the Maharashtra issue on December 24, 2024. 'An advocate from AICC wrote to us, and we issued a detailed reply on December 24, 2024. That reply is publicly available on our website. Yet, Rahul Gandhi claims that we never responded. Even yesterday, he repeated the same allegation,' the sources explained. The ECI sources further noted that on Thursday (August 7), the Karnataka government decided to use the electoral roll as the base for conducting the caste survey. Ironically, on the same day, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the credibility of the electoral rolls. While the Congress-led Karnataka government vouched for the authenticity of the electoral rolls by basing its most important policy -- the caste census -- on them, Rahul Gandhi simultaneously questioned their integrity, the ECI sources pointed out. Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Thursday in Delhi, making serious charges regarding committing election fraud. He gave the example of the Mahadevapura Assembly segment in Bengaluru.

Speaking to the ANI, Rao noted that BJP leader Bandi Sanjay was summoned to record his statement in connection with the case. "Today, the phone tapping case investigation was in progress, and Bandi Sanjay was called for his statement. The Congress government doesn't appear to be serious about the issue. So far, they have arrested only the officials, but they have not laid their hands on any political leaders who are responsible for the phone tapping. The CBI is the only answer for it. There will be a proper investigation done only if the investigation is given to the CBI. We demand that this phone tapping case be given to CBI for further investigation," he Friday, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar demanded that the Telangana government hand over the investigation into the alleged phone tapping during the previous BRS regime to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)."It has been confirmed that judges' phones were tapped, right? Along with me, the phones of Revanth Reddy and BRS MLAs were also tapped. In fact, I was the first person to expose the issue of phone tapping," he said."I was shocked to hear the revelations made by the SIT police during the inquiry. Whatever political programs I planned, the police already knew about them in advance. They used to call our staff and ask, 'You are planning this particular program, right?' Now I understand--it was all because of the phone tapping. That's why, during KCR's regime, everyone used only WhatsApp calls. Even beggars wouldn't use regular phone calls--this shows the extent of atrocities under the BRS rule," the Karimnagar MP added that he has handed over all related information and evidence to the SIT. The phone tapping issue had earlier triggered a political row in June this year, when BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) issued a legal notice to Telangana Congress chief Mahesh Kumar Goud over allegations.
