Inter Milan did not just lose to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final last Saturday.
The Nerazzurri lost by the widest margin in the history of the Champions League or Europa League final. It was a humiliating 5-0 shellacking at the hands of the Parisians.
In the first half, it was quickly apparent that PSG would overrun Inter in midfield and control the tempo of play.
Then, the Ligue 1 champions took advantage of some sloppy defensive errors to score twice in quick succession.
In the second half, meanwhile, Inter had to push forward more. Then, PSG were absolutely ruthless in exploiting the big gaps that the Nerazzurri started to leave, scoring three more times.

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa noted that 'when we played the first leg against PSG they really put us under pressure.'

'Even though we ended up winning.'
'In the second leg it went differently,' the 27-year-old continued. 'But they ended up winning.'
Chiesa called PSG 'a very strong team, with a high intensity.'
Nevertheless, the Liverpool winger admitted that 'I'd imagined that the final would be 50/50.'
Meanwhile, Chiesa noted that 'Dembele's pressing on Sommer was impressive.'
'Then the goal for 2-0 after twenty minutes finished off the match. It was no longer recoverable for Inter.'
'At that point, Inter were mentally smashed.'

Best buds: how Opetaia and Crawford hit it off
The two-way respect earned in an evening with Terence 'Bud' Crawford could pay off in the form of a Las Vegas stadium unification blockbuster for Jai Opetaia. Australian cruiserweight Opetaia (27-0) defends his IBF and The Ring belts on the Gold Coast on Sunday against Italian knockout artist Claudio Squeo (17-0). If successful he'll then accelerate his push for more belts, a quest dating back almost three years since his upset win against Mairis Briedis despite breaking his jaw in two places. Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez will defend his WBA and WBO belts later this month and is Opetaia's target, potentially on the undercard to Crawford's super-fight against Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 25. Crawford, who took Jeff Horn's welterweight title in 2018, will aim to become a five-weight world champion and the first undisputed three-weight champion. Opetaia has never fought in the United States but has earnt a reputation in the UK and has Saudi billionaire and boxing supremo Turki Alalshikh in his corner after a series of pulverising knockout wins in both countries. Manager Mick Francis plans to head to the United States after Sunday's fight to pursue a deal, buoyed after a meeting with future Hall of Famer Crawford on the Gold Coast last week. "After dealing with him, he's a real one of the sport and he realised I was too," Opetaia told AAP of his time with Crawford on the American's promotional tour. "He knows who I am, for the right reasons." Crawford, among the world's top pound-for-pound talents, defied the poverty, crime and violence associated with his Omaha upbringing and now operates a not-for-profit gym there. NSW-born Opetaia has enjoyed recent visits to conduct junior clinics in Samoa, a heritage he celebrates heavily on fight nights. "There's a lot of similarities in how he thinks, it was refreshing to hear his take," Opetaia said. "I've looked up to him, now we're both up there, rubbing shoulders on the same stage. "I'm telling you. Canelo-Crawford, with me and Zurdo on the undercard ... 100 per cent. "We can't get comfortable, though." That's because a shock loss to the unfancied but dangerous Squeo would up-end all those plans. But Opetaia, who qualified for the Olympics as a 16-year-old and fought at the London 2012 Games at 17, has never got ahead of himself. A fourth generation boxer on his dad's side and third generation on his mum's, Opetaia can't remember a time he wasn't near a ring. "It wasn't a specific moment; I grew up in it, it was life," he said. "Training, boxing, sparring and punching on. "When I was a little boy I'd go for runs before school then the gym straight after. "There was no homework for me. My homework was training. "That's what's pushing me for the unification fights so much. "I'm always pushing up, my whole life just wanting to win, win." The Convention Centre card also features Brisbane-based Irish light heavyweight world title prospect Conor Wallace, rejuvenated super welterweight Ben Mahoney, and entertaining Paris Olympic heavyweight Teremoana Teremoana.

Lionel Messi names one Barcelona goal as favourite of his entire career Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has this week provided an insight his personal favourite goal of his career. And the Argentine's pick may come as something of a surprise… Veteran attacker Messi has of course been responsible for some of the most spectacular goals in modern history. Manchester United and Tottenham book passage to Europa League final
Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English Europa League final. Both sides booked their place in the decider on Thursday night, earning comfortable aggregate victories in their semi-final ties. Manchester United held a 3-0 advantage over Athletic Bilbao but fell behind in the return. Mikel Jauregizar's goal gave the Spaniards a glimmer of hope but Athletic were unable to extend their advantage despite chances at Old Trafford. Mason Mount came off the bench to inspire a turnaround for the home side. Advertisement The midfielder made it back-to-back games with a brilliant equaliser, turning sharply inside the box and firing home. Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund added late goals to make the result safe, before Mount's crowning moment. The 26-year-old fired in from near the halfway line with Julen Agirrezabala wayward after a poor clearance. It was a huge night for Mount, who has endured an injury-plagued time at Manchester United. Ruben Amorim's side will face Tottenham Hotspur in a fascinating final with plenty on the line. Leading 3-1 from the first leg, goals from Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro earned a 2-0 win at Bodo/Glimt in the return and aggregate progress. The North Londoners have reached their first final in this competition since 1984. With both sides enduring disappointing domestic campaigns, the Europa League final offers a winner-takes-all shootout to salvage their seasons. Currently 15th and 16th in the Premier League, the winners will win silverware and a place in next season's Champions League.
