‘Turun Anwar' rally proof PN lacks ideas, says Anwar aide
Political Secretary to Finance Minister Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said current figures and reports showed that the country's economy is recovering and growing consistently, thus burying their baseless claims.
'Growth, inflation, unemployment rates, investment volumes are being demonised because of hatred and greed.
'This is clear evidence of how they have failed to argue and propose alternatives to the various good policies that we have translated,' said the Angkatan Muda Keadlilan (AMK) chief in a tweet on X yesterday.
He said while the country's leaders are working hard to develop the country, the opposition has chosen the path of fighting, and even to this day they have failed to present a candidate to replace Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
However, Muhammad Kamil said the MADANI government upholds freedom, especially to assemble peacefully, while informing that the prime minister has given assurances that there will be no intimidation from the authorities.
'However, demonstrating just to hate Anwar Ibrahim physically shows how weak, shallow and inept their politics are in the face of our agility in translating the wishes and desires of the people now,' said Kamil. — Bernama

Takiyuddin pours cold water on no-confidence vote idea
KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has dismissed any plans for a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Takiyuddin said a vote of no-confidence was limited to members of parliament and that the opposition may not have enough numbers to move such a vote. "That's why for us, the vote of no-confidence actually comes from the people," he told a press conference at the end of the Pas-led rally. "This is what should be considered. For now, I don't see (a motion of no-confidence being submitted) yet. Perhaps if there is a bigger issue, we might consider it," he said. He was asked to comment on opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin's remarks in his speech at the rally, in which the PN secretary-general hinted at submitting a motion of no confidence in the Dewan Rakyat. On the 18,000 turnout at the rally, which was well below the 300,000 target set, Takiyuddin said he still considered the gathering a success, as it brought together people from different communities and political parties that were once adversaries. "If anyone says the crowd was not large, I don't know what to say."

According to The Star , Anwar made the remark after delivering his closing address at the 50th edition of the Prime Ministers' Cup Debate Competition in Putrajaya. 'Well, I was not invited,' he reportedly told reporters when asked about the rally. Thousands of demonstrators gathered near Sogo and Pertama Complex in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon for the 'Turun Anwar' protest. The crowd, which included Perikatan Nasional leaders and supporters dressed predominantly in black, is expected to march to Dataran Merdeka Over 2,000 police officers have been deployed across the city, with acting KL police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad warning that any provocation or unlawful behaviour will be met with firm action. Anwar had earlier said the government welcomes criticism and peaceful assembly, but urged protesters to act responsibly. Police say ‘Turun Anwar' rally drew 18,000, ended without incident
KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — Police estimated that around 18,000 people took part in the 'Turun Anwar' rally in the capital today, said acting Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad. Despite the large turnout, Mohamed Usuf said the protest was peaceful. 'We would like to say thank you to those who participated in the rally today, for not stirring any unwanted trouble. 'So far, we have not received any police reports,' he told a press conference here after the crowd had dispersed. When asked if anyone would be called in for investigation, Mohamed Usuf said police would typically carry out a post-mortem before deciding if further action is necessary. More than 2,000 police officers and personnel were deployed for the rally, which began at 11am before protesters marched to Dataran Merdeka at noon. The rally lasted for three hours and ended without incident.
