Brat Pitt home burglary leads LA cops to arrest teen gang that targeted other stars
The all male suspects – two aged 18, one 17 and one 16 – are alleged street gang members linked to a string of 'celebrity burglaries' targeting actors and professional athletes, BBC reported today.
Investigators found stolen property during searches of the suspects' homes, the British news agency reported, citing LA police chief Jim McDonnell.
He did not name the other celebrities targeted, but according to the BBC, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, LA Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto and former LA Football Club striker Olivier Giroud were among high-profile LA residents who have reported burglaries this year.
The break-in at Pitt's Los Feliz property happened on June 25 when three masked thieves jumped a fence, smashed a window and entered before fleeing with valuables, according to media reports.
AP reported that Pitt was overseas promoting his new film F1 at the time of the burglary, and his representatives have declined to comment.
McDonnell said that burglars had become more sophisticated, using hidden surveillance cameras and wi-fi jammers to bypass home security systems, BBC reported.
'We don't really give enough thought to... [while] we want our friends to know where we are and what we're doing, you're telling everybody else then who may be looking to exploit your situation,' he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said preliminary investigations suggested the suspect confronted the victim over an alleged relationship involving the suspect's spouse. Earlier, it was reported that a man had died after being stabbed in front of a house on Monday after a disagreement at around 6.50pm. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene at 7.28 pm by a medical officer from the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital. Earlier this week, Seremban police chief ACP Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene with the help of residents at the housing estate, and police seized a knife. He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and the motive for the incident was still under investigation. The suspect would be remanded until August 18.

Singapore crime scene visit: Four suspected housebreakers taken back to Bukit Timah sites under police escort
SINGAPORE, Aug 14 — Four Chinese nationals accused of possessing housebreaking tools were brought under police guard to locations in Bukit Timah on Wednesday, less than a week after their arrests in an attempted break-in case. Zhuo Yinggui, 36; Yang Chao, 41; Zhou Qifa, 36; and He Jiao, 38 — all from China's Guizhou province — were each charged on August 10 with one count of possessing tools for housebreaking, according to The Straits Times. They are believed to have ties to Chinese burglary syndicates. In the morning, He and Zhou were escorted separately to the Rail Corridor off Bukit Timah Road, where police say they were caught with the tools. Both had their hands and legs restrained. Meanwhile, the other two suspects Yang and Zhuo, who were arrived separately, were taken to another location near Laurel Wood Avenue, with Yang's site visit lasting only briefly while Zhuo's was longer. According to court documents, the four were stopped on August 8 at the Rail Corridor near Greenleaf estate carrying two black balaclavas, three bent-tip screwdrivers, three pairs of gloves, two wrenches, a torchlight, clothing and more than S$400 (RM1,300) in cash. According to police, the men were first spotted behaving suspiciously in a park. They fled into a nearby forested area when approached but were tracked down — two were caught within two hours in the forest, a third was detained later that day at a mall near Clementi, and the last was found the following morning at a hotel in Geylang. Officers later recovered clothing belonging to the suspects from a forested spot near Laurel Wood Avenue. Investigators are also checking whether the group is linked to three housebreaking cases and one attempted break-in reported between April and July in the Rail Corridor area. In two of those cases, thieves made off with about S$60,000 worth of luxury watches and jewellery. The four men had entered Singapore via Woodlands Checkpoint on August 8 on social visit passes. They remain in remand for further questioning. If found guilty, they face up to two years' jail and a fine.

Kajang cops: Foreign student who hit three motorcycles, hurt six bystanders stressed over life and studies in Malaysia
KAJANG, Aug 14 — The foreign woman who hit three motorcycles and hurt six others while brandishing two knives were believed to be suffering from stress, police said. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the suspect is a student in a public university here. 'The suspect is believed to have been upset over the treatment she received during her studies and her life in Malaysia, which led to feelings of stress. 'She did not specify the nature of the treatment,' Naazron said in a media briefing note here. Naazron said there is no record of the woman taking medication or suffering from depression. 'However, she appeared to be under stress due to her issues and problems. The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause,' he added. He said the woman has since been remanded for seven days until August 20, 2025. So far, statements have been taken from 11 witnesses, including the victim. Two victims hospitalised from the attack yesterday are in stable condition and remain warded. Earlier, it was reported that the police arrested a foreign woman suspected of reckless driving after she allegedly hit three motorcycles and assaulted members of the public at a traffic light junction near a shopping mall in Kajang yesterday. The report of the incident was received at 11.58 am and initial investigations revealed that the 24-year-old woman had been driving dangerously before exiting her vehicle and attacking bystanders with a knife. Naazron said six individuals aged between 21 and 60 sustained injuries, with two admitted for further examination while the remaining four received outpatient treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 307 and Section 279 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
