Inter Milan take on Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds this evening.
This will be the Nerazzurri's second match of the Club World Cup group stage match. They drew 1-1 with Mexican team Monterrey in their first.
That opening day draw has left Inter with a lot of work to do over their remaining two group stage matches. After today, they will take on Argentine giants River Plate in their final group match.
A win against Urawa Reds this evening would certainly see Inter Milan take a big step towards the knockout rounds.
However, if the Nerazzurri are to draw – or worse, lose – then they would be teetering on the edge of an early elimination from the tournament.

The Nerazzurri coach insisted that 'changes are normal, because we play every 3-4 days.'
'So some changes need to be made. Also for the match plan.'
Chivu made clear that 'everyone has to be involved.'
'Because they're a healthy part of this group. They have quality, and belong in this team.'
Meanwhile, Chivu revealed what the formation will be for Inter. 'There will be two attacking midfielders playing behind one striker,' he said.
'We can also have three by having Barella step up, depending on the moment in the match and the approach that the opponent has.'
'It will probable be a more attacking decision,' said the Inter coach. 'We want to have more width, some attacks between the lines, and superiority in midfield.'
Chivu made clear that 'we can't give them time and space, so they can't cause us problems with the pace that they have.'

Italy Star Insists Inter Milan ‘Not On Vacation' At Club World Cup Following Dramatic 2-1 Win Vs Urawa Red Diamonds

Italy Star Insists Inter Milan 'Not On Vacation' At Club World Cup Following Dramatic 2-1 Win Vs Urawa Red Diamonds Alessandro Bastoni says that Inter Milan are 'not on vacation' at the Club World Cup following their 2-1 win over Urawa Red Diamonds. The 26-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the match. Advertisement Inter Milan had to do it the hard way against Urawa Red Diamonds. The Nerazzurri had nearly all of the possession of the ball. However, they conceded early on, with Ryoma Watanabe scoring after they were caught out completely on the break within the first fifteen minutes. From then on, the pattern was clear. Urawa Reds dug in and defended their penalty area, whilst Inter tried to break them down. That proved to be a very difficult task. The Japanese team defended with composure, physicality, and organization. They didn't allow Inter any time or space to create telling chances. In the end, it was Inter captain Lautaro Martinez who finally found the back of the net. And it was with Inter's first shot on target of the match. Advertisement The Argentine scored with an acrobatic overhead kick from a corner. And then, it proved to be substitute Valentin Carboni who was decisive. (Photo by) After the match, Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni commented that 'we've gotten a big weight off our shoulders.' 'We'd gone a while without a win,' continued the Italian international. 'And we wanted to have the feeling of three points again.' 'We were playing the way we had against Monterrey. Then we conceded a goal.' Advertisement 'I'm very proud of this team's spirit,' added the Italian international. 'We'll be freer mentally. We've always been focused in this competition.' Then, Bastoni admitted that it is 'inevitable' for Inter to feel a bit of fatigue. 'It's been an exhausting season,' the Italian international commented. 'But we didn't come here to be on vacation. We want to take the Inter brand forward, and we want to do well in this competition.' Bastoni then observed that 'the coach has only been here for a short amount of time.' 'He'll have to work at the start of next season. Now, obviously there's no time for him to introduce new ideas.' Advertisement 'He came into the dressing room with a bang,' Bastoni said of new Inter coach Cristian Chivu. 'He's working a lot on our mentality.' Bastoni added that Chivu is 'a super person.' 'We're happy about that,' added the 26-year-old.

Victor Osimhen waiting for €75m release clause to expire to drop his price

Key Manchester United target Victor Osimhen is playing a waiting game until his €75m release clause expires and he could be available more cheaply, according to reports in Italy. The clause in the Nigerian's contract only applies to clubs outside of Italy and expires in mid-July, frustrating any hopes of wrapping up a quick deal but making a more affordable one more likely. Advertisement Although on the other hand the risk is that with no clause to be triggered Napoli could dig their heels in and ask for more or, with the player having several known suitors, a bidding war could ensue. Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the player is not taking this pessimistic view and is actively waiting because 'he hopes that once the clause expires the price will drop'. However, Napoli have the option to extend his contract – currently due to expire in 2026 – by a further 12 months which would likely ratchet the price right back up again. There seems to be no discussion of the 26-year-old staying on in Naples, so any contractual wrangling would be purely with a view to the club getting as much money as possible for the player while keeping him away from their direct rivals. Advertisement Fellow Serie A giants Juventus are very keen, but Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined not to strengthen a potential title contender, and 'hopes to find a foreign club that will settle the bill and satisfy the Nigerian'. The report suggests that Osimhen's decision to wait is encouraging to Juventus, but notes that if another club comes along in the meantime, or if the Turin side fail to sell Dusan Vlahovic, his future could like beyond Serie A. Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray where he was as prolific as ever, scoring 37 goals in 41 games and supplying eight assists. He would be an ideal striker to drop into Ruben Amorim's goal-starved squad, with the experience and mentality to hit the ground running and drag the Red Devils up by their bootstraps. Advertisement Even amongst Premier League clubs United do not have a clear run at the player, however, with Liverpool reportedly entering talks for him and Chelsea long holding an interest. Osimhen declined a gigantic offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal earlier this summer which boosted hopes for prospective employers across Europe. Ultimately, however, it feels like a long-running saga with the end not yet in sight for either the player or United. Featured image Ahmad Mora via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @

Inter Milan scores twice in final minutes to beat Urawa in Club World Cup, 2-1

SEATTLE (AP) — Valentin Carboni scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time to give Inter Milan a 2-1 win over Urawa in the Club World Cup on Saturday, ending the Japan club's chances of advancing past the group stage. Inter Milan held the vast majority of possession, but failed to score until the 78th minute when Lautaro Martinez brilliantly bicycle kicked Nicolo Barella's corner ball into the net. Advertisement Carboni's game-winner came in the second minute of stoppage time and was assisted by fellow substitute Francesco Esposito. The Urawa Red Diamonds opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Takuro Kaneko assisted Ryoma Watanabe in transition, finding Watanabe all alone on the penalty spot with his cutback ball. Key moment Urawa had one final chance to equalize in the last minute of stoppage time, but goalkeeper Yann Sommer tipped the long-distance attempt directly from the free kick over the crossbar. Takeaways Inter Milan takes over the top spot in Group E after following up their tournament-opening draw with the victory. The Italian club will play River Plate of Argentina on Wednesday. Urawa will be playing for pride against CF Monterrey on Wednesday. ___ AP soccer: Bella Munson, The Associated Press
