Celtics point guard Derrick White hosts annual basketball camp in Colorado
White leaned into NBA defense and the principles he conducts himself with while playing it to a rapt audience, but the Colorado native isn't just there to teach another generation of prospective players how to elevate their individual games at this stage of their engagement with the sport. "Coming back to the Springs where it all started for me is special," said the Celtics floor general. "Camps like this are a great way to play basketball and have fun or meet a new friend. You might learn a new technique you can take home and show your friends. "
"It's a great way to get out here and meet new people and have fun while doing it," suggested White.
"I'm from Colorado, and they can see a kid from Colorado made it and say, 'Why not me?'," asked the University of Colorado - Boulder alum rhetorically.
"I saw Chauncey (Billups) do it and I know it's possible. Hopefully one of these kids sees me and what I've managed to accomplish, and they'll think it's possible to reach their dreams, whatever that might be."

Best of new Boston Celtics big man Chris Boucher in 2024-25
What should we expect from new Boston Celtics big man Chris Boucher? The Celtics signed the Canadian forward to a one-season, veteran minimum deal once they opened up the cap space needed to stay under the NBA's second apron by dealing vet forward Georges Niang into the Utah Jazz' cap space with a pair of second round picks. How does Boucher fit into Boston's big man rotation? Will he play more as a center or as a forward, and will he start or come off the bench? Last season with the Raptors, the Castries, Saint Lucia native put up 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49.2% from the floor overall, 36.3% from deep, and 78.2% from the free throw line. Best of new Boston Celtics wing RJ Luis Jr. in 2024-25
What should we expect from new Boston Celtics two way player RJ Luis Jr.? The newest addition to the Celtics roster joined the team as the return for vet forward Georges Niang when Boston's front office sent two second round draft picks to the Utah Jazz to use their cap space to absorb Niang's contract, Luis' inclusion making the trade legal in the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). A 22-year-old, 6-foot-7 wing who last played for St. John's at the NCAA level, Luis went undrafted in 2025, and won Big East Player of the Year in his final collegiate season. In it, he put up 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 43.9% from the floor overall, 33.6% from 3, and 74.7% from the free throw line. Neemias Queta helps Portugal upset Spain in FIBA EuroBasket exhibition win
If the knee surgery that backup Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta had this offseason is still bothering him, he is hiding it well. The Lisbon native was instrumental in his Portuguese National Team upsetting the Spanish National Team 76-74, defeating the reigning EuroBasket champs in exhibition play. While it might not count toward dethroning Spain, it was certainly a statement win. The NBA's only Portuguese player put up an impressive 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in the victory for Portugal, Queta dominating the glass for his home country in FIBA play while being more than an ancillary factor on the offensive end of the court. This is a promising development on several levels for fans of the Celtics, who now have some hard evidence that not only did Queta recover well enough to impact a game against high level opponents, but has also found ways to stay on the court and contribute effectively in big minutes. With the Portuguese center set to see a major uptick in playing time even after the Celtics signing vet big man Chris Boucher, this is exactly what fans would want to see from Queta suiting up for FIBA action.
