Johnson, 21, spoke about the end of her friendship with her former LSU teammate during an episode of The Breakfast Club released on Monday, June 9.
"We're not friends." Johnson said of Reese. "But I mean, like, that bond that we had, and that thing we did together, win the national championship, you can never take that away from us."
Johnson and Reese defeated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes to secure LSU the NCAA championship in 2023.
The teammates appeared close friends on and off the court during their time at LSU, but Johnson said some "stuff" happened between the basketball stars.
'It was a lot of media, it was a lot of locker room stuff, you know what I'm saying?' Johnson told the morning show.
Johnson, a rising music artist outside of her basketball success, added, "You know, sometimes, like, stuff happens, you wish it don't happen but it do and you just gotta grow."
Now a junior at LSU, Johnson says she remains supportive of Reese despite their rift.
"I support her in everything she do," said Johnson, noting that Reese is "killing it in the WNBA" with the Chicago Sky.
Johnson even defended Reese amid criticism of her game.
"I be on social media clowning the folks that be trying to talk down on her," said the LSU guard. "I'm just proud of her, but like, you know, stuff happens."
Fans began speculating about a rift between the athletes' mothers, Angel Webb Reese and Kia Brooks, after a pointed series of posts on X in November 2023.
According to Outkick, the feud began when Webb criticized Johnson's grammar. Brooks reportedly fired back at Webb in an Instagram comment, writing, 'You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0-or-less grade point average. Stop being petty, fake and hateful, and take responsibility for you and your daughter's actions.'
Reese chimed in on X amid the ordeal, telling fans, "Please don't believe everything you read."
On Tuesday, June 10, Reese's current teammate on the Sky, Ariel Atkins, came to her defense amid criticism this season.
'This is a 23-year-old kid and the amount of crap that she gets on day-to-day, and she still shows up,' Atkins, 28, said, as seen in a video on X.

Atkins continued, "Her crown is heavy, so whatever else y'all wanna come at her for the way that she acts, she has to build a wall. She has to have a wall. Because if she doesn't, people will break her down. Not only because of the way that she looks, but because of the way she carries herself.'
Reese showed her appreciation for Atkins' support on social media after, reposting the video of her message on X and writing, "Love my Vet man."
