Netflix Dropped Release Dates for Happy Gilmore 2, Knives Out 3, Stranger Things, and More

Netflix decided to come out of the gate swinging this week, after hosting its 'Tudum 2025 Live Event' over the weekend: a celebration of all the cool shit the streaming giant has cooking. While there were a few live music performances, and celebrity cameos, we're all actually interested in what the streaming brand is bringing us this year – and next.
Thankfully, it came with the goods. We got new trailers for a bunch of Netflix's biggest series, as well as release dates for several of its major projects—from the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2, to a brand-new rendition of Frankenstein.
So let's not waste anymore time—here's all the big trailers and release date Netflix announced.
'Happy Gilmore 2' Launches July 25
Yep, everyone's favourite miscreant golfer is back on course. Netflix has given us our first proper look at the upcoming sequel this week, as well as dropping a release date bombshell: it's coming next month. Now set to release 25 July, 2025, Adam Sandler's Netflix-backed Happy Gilmore 2 looks every bit as irreverent as the original, if not a bit more formulaic.
Fans of the classic movie will be glad to see quite a few returning faces—including Shooter McGavin, played perfectly as always by Christopher McDonald, as well as Happy's happy wife Virginia Venit, played by Modern Family's Julie Bowen.
'One Piece': Season 2 is Dropping in 2026
If you haven't heard on One Piece yet, what rock have you been hiding under? What is arguably one of the most influential manga of all time, which was turned into one of the most successful anime of all time, is making the jump back into live action with the second season of Netflix's One Piece adaptation. That second season is coming in 2026, Netflix announced, which is good news to every Straw Hat out there.
And now we've got a good look at one of the series' most popular characters: Tony Tony Chopper, a sweet-loving reindeer that ate the human-human fruit and can speak and walk like a person. How fun! Check out the new trailer above.
'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' is Coming 12 December
Probably the thing on this list we're most excited about, we've finally been given a good look at Rian Johnson's third Knives Out film: Wake Up Dead Man—and we got a release date! Dropping 12 December 2025, Wake Up Dead Man brings Daniel Craig back as renowned investigator Benoit Blanc as he looks to solve another 'perfect' crime.
It seems Craig is one again joined by an absolute banger cast, with Josh Browlin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, and Glenn Close bringing some serious heat. If you haven't checked out either the original Knives Out, or its sequel Glass Onion, do it now.
Take a Look at 'Squid Game' Season 3, Dropping 27 June
After teasing that the incredibly popular Squid Game would finish with a third and final season, Netflix has given us our first look at the upcoming Season 3 with a trailer, and told us when we can expect to see the end of the game: June 27, 2025.
The series follows Gi-hun through his initial dealings with the games in Season 1, and his attempt to understand and destroy the games from the inside in Season 2, and following the devastating cliffhanger ending of last season (no spoilers just yet), Season 3 is sure to kick off with a bang.
'Stranger Things' Season 5 Announces Staggered Release
If you've been waited with bated breath for the end of Stranger Things, we finally, finally know when we're going to get to see what happens to the people of Hawkins—but, it's not as simple as a single release date.
No, instead, we're going to get the first four episodes on 26 November, 2025, three more episodes on 25 December, 2025, and the final episode on 31 December, 2025. Yes, Christmas and New Years are Stranger Things Holidays this year.
As for what you can expect from the end of this absolutely epic saga? Well, check out the new trailer above.
Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein Teaser
Hell yes. A new rendition of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro, starring Oscar Issac as the young scientist himself? What could be better? Well, it's coming this November.
The official teaser we got is dripping with gothic charm, and looks absolutely fantastic. del Toro's characteristic style is on full display, and we honestly can't wait to see what crazy stuff he conjures later this year. I just really want him to make that At the Mountains of Madness movie he keeps talking about.
An Extended First Look at 'Wednesday' Season 2, coming 6 August
And finally, we got our first proper look at the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday. In fact, we got the first six minutes of the first episode, and the reveal that part 1 of the series will drop on 6 August, while part 2 will come on 3 September. Netflix really loves breaking their releases up, huh.
In typical Wednesday fashion, she's taking her time tracking down her favourite childhood serial killer, relishing every minute of it. Somehow the killer is Haley Joel Osment, which actually makes it even better, and we now know Lady Gaga will be playing some role in the new season. We don't get much in the way of hints as to what season 2 will be about, but it's definitely going for a darker vibe.

And like Gary Oldman's character, Morck has also been tasked with running a department staffed with misfits and rejects and held together with string and paperclips. After Morck's arrogance and carelessness at a murder scene left a young officer dead, his partner paralysed and him with PTSD thanks to a bullet passing through his neck, he's been banished to the basement and told to investigate cold cases for a department vanity project. The first season of this ridiculous concept of competitive comedians testing their abilities proved to be one of the most reliably funny shows of the year. Smartly retro-dressed host Guy Montgomery is back – alongside his even more resplendent sidekick Aaron Chen – to tempt a who's who of the Aussie stand-up scene with his Coward's Cup (easy words), Person's Purse (medium words) and Bucket of Bravery (hard words) while dishing out and being on the end of plenty of spelling-adjacent zingers. First up this week are Lloyd Langford, Nina Oyama, Hannah Gadsby and returning season one champ Tom Walker – their spelling results are patchy, but top of the class for laughs. THIS CITY IS OURS WEDNESDAY, STAN Crime thriller fans with a MobLand-shaped hole in their lives following last week's excellent finale can get a fresh fix of British villains and geezers – with a healthy side serving of The Godfather and The Sopranos – in this nine-part series from the creator of The Last Kingdom and set on the even grittier streets of Liverpool. Sean Bean is in quietly terrifying form as gang leader Ronnie Phelan, who is looking to transition out of the drug-dealing game, but wants to build his bank balance before he goes. He charges his loyal 2IC Michael – who also dreams of one day going legit and starting family – with renegotiating the deal with their Spanish suppliers, but with higher rewards comes higher risk. It's all go at Melbourne Airport on reality show Airport 24/7 AIRPORT 24/7 THURSDAY, 7.30PM, CHANNEL 10 Plane travellers might look at airports in an entirely different light after watching this new homegrown doco that goes behind the scenes to spotlight the staff who keep things (for the most part) running smoothly so you get where you need to go safely and on time. Narrated by Susie Youssef, the producers have been given incredible access to Melbourne Airport – the country's biggest, with enough people to fill the MCG passing through each day. Whether it's the operation centre dealing with a blackout before its repercussions cause travel chaos around the country, the quick-thinking, stressed-out tower control staff juggling a plane every minute in the busy periods, or an international flight forced to turn back and dump its fuel over the bay, there's never a dull moment. Lisa Blari braves the elements in Ice Maiden. ICE MAIDEN THURSDAY, 8.30PM, SBS VICELAND Sailor Lisa Blair's quest to become the first woman to sail solo around Antarctica in 2017 was nothing short of extraordinary. Facing fierce winds, raging waters and frigid air, she displayed not just extreme skill but also poise and resilience in the face of deadly danger, even with the closest help three days away. But just as impressive in this documentary is the drive and ambition that got her there in the first place, and the hard work for sponsorship and fundraising that made it possible. Through her trip vlog and interviews with family and fellow adventurers such as Dick Smith and Jessica Watson, it paints a picture of an inspirational individual prepared to face extremes to realise her dream. Thomas Jefferson once said 'travelling makes men wiser, but less happy' and the lads seem keen to prove him wrong on both counts – they still look like complete idiots trying to crash dinner tables in restaurants and posing as flamenco instructors, but they look like they are having an absolute blast doing it. Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in The Better Sister. THE BETTER SISTER PRIME VIDEO The latest entry into the ever-growing, bad-things-happening-to-beautiful-rich-people genre is adapted from Alafair Burke's best-selling 2019 thriller and will appeal to fans of Big Little Lies, Gone Girl and the recent Sirens. Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks star as sisters – the former is Chloe, a successful media boss with a luxurious lifestyle and a teenage son, while the latter plays estranged older sister Nicky, whose former addictions have left her struggling and embittered. When Chloe's high-powered and possibly shady lawyer husband is murdered, the investigation will reunite the pair to bicker and air old grievances from their shared traumatic childhood as the eight episodes weave together courtroom drama, family secrets and dollops of jet-black humour. Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything IN CASE YOU MISSED IT … THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING Now streaming, Tubi Eddie Redmayne deservedly won the quadrella of accolades – an Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG – for his performance as Stephen Hawking in this 2014 biopic. Based on Jane Hawking's memoir about her marriage to the renowned physicist, the film chronicles the couple's relationship as they navigate the joint strains of Hawking's meteoric rise in the scientific world and his physical decline from early onset Motor Neurone Disease. Just like Daniel Day Lewis did with his heart wrenching performance in My Left Foot, Redmayne does a remarkable job of capturing the physicality of Hawking's disease. Felicity Jones also shines as Hawking's devoted and underappreciated wife.

‘Squid Game: The Experience' opens in London
Fans of the show Squid Game have the chance to take part in an immersive experience in London. Participants will compete in five challenges, including 'red light, green light' and the 'glass bridge' where players must remember a six-square sequence to cross the path. A-list singer turned down Meghan's invite to appear on Netflix show: report
IN LONDON Meghan Markle extended an invitation to Dolly Parton to appear on her Netflix series but was turned down, according to a new report. The first season of the Duchess of Sussex's show, With Love, Meghan, was released in March and featured eight episodes, each with different guests. According to royal and entertainment commentator Kinsey Schofield, the country singer's team was 'livid' at the request. 'Because no, they don't want to risk Dolly's reputation Q score [and] her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle,' she alleged in a recent podcast episode of The Nerve with Maureen Callahan. 'They knew that this ask was just to give Meghan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in. 'Dolly is not only incredibly popular and loved by the general public, but she also is somebody who can float around within these different places. 'Her team really feels like Meghan was trying to take advantage of her popularity.' Those who did feature in the first season of With Love, Meghan, included the duchess' former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer and actress Mindy Kaling. It was confirmed earlier this year that the lifestyle and cooking show had been renewed for a second season – with rumours circulating recently that a third has also been greenlit from Netflix. Shortly after the release of season one, and amid persistent allegations of Meghan being 'difficult' to work with, a staffer spoke to People magazine about their experience, insisting she was 'warm', 'approachable' and 'genuine' throughout production. 'She made sure everyone felt included, from Netflix executives to our director to every PA on set. No one was left out,' he said. 'Most of the time, we're expected to fade into the background, to be invisible. But in this show, we were part of it. We were included. It was a very unique and refreshing experience.' Meghan was also open to learning throughout the process, according to the crew member. 'She didn't seem too married to any one idea. If something didn't go perfectly, she was fine with it and moved on to the next thing,' he said. The staffer added that she was 'a great hostess' and that there were occasional set visits from Prince Harry and the couple's two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. 'Whenever Harry visited set, he was always super polite and friendly. But it was clear he wanted this to be Meghan's moment to shine,' he said. 'She was super attentive and doting on [the kids]. We would give them headphones so they could listen to audio.'
