It was their first competitive match of the 2025-26 season for the Green Lions.
And it was also their first FA Cup match for eight years due to financial troubles.
But Tuesday's replay in London did not go ahead as planned.
That is because Guernsey admitted there had been an error with the registration of one of their players.

Initially, the replay was pushed back by a week to get to the bottom of the issue.
However, Guernsey have now confirmed they were booted out of this season's FA Cup.
A club statement said: "We have just received official confirmation that the club has been removed from this season's competition, and that Bedfont Sports Club FC has been awarded the tie and will progress to the Preliminary Round."
Bedfont Sports will host Kingstonian on August 16.

But fans could not believe the costly blunder.
One said: "Schoolboy error."

Another replied: "After all the hype... a real big let down."
A third more compassionate supporter added: "Unfortunately, it happens. You can't really blame club admins as all are normally volunteers - it's happened twice to my local club."
But a final user wrote: "What a ridiculous mistake to make @GuernseyFC. Obviously haven't learnt anything from watching Jersey's similar mistake last season?"
That is in reference to fellow Channel Island side Jersey Bulls being docked three points for fielding a suspended player.
The punishment denied Jersey the Combined Counties Premier South league title - but they did still get promoted through the play-offs.
The first round proper of this season's FA Cup is on the first weekend of November, with Premier League and Championship clubs entering in the third round in early January.
The final takes place at Wembley on May 16, 2026 - with Crystal Palace the current holders after stunning Manchester City in last season's showpiece.

Unloved by Ruben Amorim but too popular to sell – where does forgotten Man Utd man Kobbie Mainoo go from here?

Mainoo is not favoured as one of the two No10s or as Bruno Fernandes' midfield partner kobsmacked Unloved by Ruben Amorim but too popular to sell – where does forgotten Man Utd man Kobbie Mainoo go from here? ONE year ago, having nicely slotted into England's midfield at Euro 2024, it seemed Kobbie Mainoo could do no wrong. But now the Manchester United star is already at a crossroads in his career at the age of 20 — with only the love of the fans for comfort. Advertisement 4 Just a year ago Kobbie Mainoo could do no wrong Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 4 But he is now at a crossroads in his Man Utd career Credit: Getty After joining United at the age of six, the thought of Mainoo leaving Old Trafford is unthinkable for many supporters. But the Stockport lad continues to face a brutal battle to secure a spot in the 4-3-2-1 system of manager Ruben Amorim. His emergence in the 2023–24 season under former boss Erik ten Hag felt like the long-awaited unveiling of United's next midfield maestro. Mainoo — who, along with Alejandro Garnacho, became the first teenager to score in the FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo's strike against Millwall in 2004 — was considered the future of the club. Advertisement Weeks after his Wembley triumph, Mainoo's vision and composure solved Gareth Southgate's midfield conundrum during England's surge to the Euros final. He was regarded as one of Europe's brightest talents. That was highlighted by his third-place finish in last year's Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the world's best under-21 talent and was won by Lamine Yamal. But the youngster suffered the first major setback of his career just months after the Euros as he missed 17 games when fatigue brought about two different muscle injuries. Advertisement BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK And Mainoo, whose contract talks stalled months ago, now has two new managers to impress in Amorim and Thomas Tuchel — and it seems the former is not keen at all. Unlike ex-England boss Southgate, Amorim seems to lack faith in the academy graduate to fix United's midfield mess. Behind the scenes of Benjamin Sesko's first day at Man Utd, from meeting team-mates to interview In the week former Red Devils star Scott McTominay earned a Ballon d'Or nod, Amorim ramped up his search for upgrades on Manuel Ugarte, 24, and veteran Casemiro, 33. Advertisement That search led United to make contact with Brighton about a potential move for 21-year-old holding midfielder Carlos Baleba, who the Seagulls value at £100million. Mainoo, who has beefed his body up this summer, looked at home as a No 8 for two pre-season games during their US tour. But new arrivals Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are set to start the season as the two No 10s, meaning skipper Bruno Fernandes is expected to make a permanent switch to a deeper midfield role. The only reasonable spot left for Mainoo would be next to Fernandes in the double pivot — but Casemiro and Ugarte seem to hold favour there. United were a mixed bag in their final summer warm-up game- and the only one at Old Trafford - before the start of the new season next Sunday. United unveiled their four new signings but it was Benjamin Sesko - who was announced from RB Leipzig before kick-off - that got the loudest roar from fans. And this match proved how much they needed him... Here's how SunSport's Man Utd reporter Katherine Walsh rated the players... And if Mainoo keeps warming the bench, it does not bode well for his chances of making Three Lions boss Tuchel's squad for the World Cup next summer. Mainoo got the last 20 minutes of United's final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday, before his team-mates made a beeline for him after he scored the penalty-shootout winner after a 1-1 draw. Advertisement It has gone quiet on the new contract and bumped-up wages front for Mainoo. The club have struggled to nail him down to fresh terms, with Chelsea and Tottenham now waiting with open arms. While fellow Cup final scorer and academy graduate Garnacho is up for sale, losing Mainoo would be a devastating blow. He is a Mancunian through-and-through and a boyhood fan. Advertisement With the 1958 United supporter group set to protest against Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazers before Sunday's Prem opener against Arsenal, their outrage would pale in comparison to the grief of losing Mainoo — and especially to a rival. Crystal Palace beat Liverpool on penalties in Community Shield

The 42 CRYSTAL PALACE TWICE came from behind to stun a new-look Liverpool and win the Community Shield for the first time on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Wembley on Sunday. New signings Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong scored for the Premier League champions, but Palace responded through Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr before winning an error-strewn shootout 3-2. Mohamed Salah blazed over from the spot, while Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott were denied by an inspired Dean Henderson as Palace built on winning their first ever major trophy by beating Manchester City in May's FA Cup final. The traditional curtain-raiser to the English football season was given extra significance after a summer marked by tragedy for Liverpool. Forward Diogo Jota was killed in a car accident alongside his brother Andre Silva. Reds legend Ian Rush and Palace chairman Steve Parish laid wreaths on the side of the pitch before kick-off, while the Liverpool end was awash with banners and flags paying tribute to the Portuguese international. A minute's silence, however, had to be cut short due to disturbances in the crowd. Jota's death has dampened the excitement over Liverpool's transfer spending spree to build on a squad that romped to a record-equalling 20th league title last season. All four of their new signings at a cost of £260 million – Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Frimpong and Milos Kerkez – started. Ekitike's role this season could depend on whether Liverpool are successful in their pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. But the Frenchman – signed from Eintracht Frankfurt last month for an initial £69 million – did his case to be Slot's preferred number nine no harm at all. Wirtz also bagged his first assist for the Reds when Ekitike spun onto the German's pass and fired into the far corner just four minutes. Palace were making their first ever appearance in the fixture but the Eagles again showed their ability to match one of the Premier League's giants over 90 minutes. Advertisement Mateta missed a glorious chance to level when he failed to beat Alisson Becker when one-on-one. But from the rebound Sarr charged into the box and was tripped by an out-of-sorts Virgil van Dijk. Mateta coolly sent Alisson the wrong way from the penalty spot to equalise. Liverpool's players were sporting a 'Forever 20″ emblem, referencing Jota's now-retired shirt number, that they will wear all season. The Liverpool fans had risen to chant Jota's name as the game entered the 20th minute when their side retook the lead Frimpong's chipped cross caught out Henderson and flew into the far corner. Ekitike wasted a great chance for his second early in the second half from another Wirtz pass as this time he fired over. However, Slot's new-look side are still to find the right balance between attack and defence as has been evidenced during pre-season. Palace were a constant threat with balls in behind the Reds defence and levelled again 13 minutes from time. Sarr sped onto Adam Wharton's through ball and calmly slotted past Alisson for his fourth goal in seven games against Liverpool. Liverpool also survived a VAR review for a penalty against Mac Allister for handball before the match went to a shootout without extra-time. Youngster Justin Devenny was the unlikely hero as he blasted the winning spot-kick high past Alisson, showing Salah, Mac Allister and Elliott how it is done. – © AFP 2025 Written by AFP and originally published on The 42 whose award-winning team produces original content that you won't find anywhere else: on GAA, League of Ireland, women's sport and boxing, as well as our game-changing rugby coverage, all with an Irish eye.
