Spain's Alex Palou wins third consecutive IndyCar season title
Angeles Spain's Alex Palou captured his third consecutive IndyCar season title and fourth in five campaigns by finishing third in Sunday's Portland Grand Prix, which was won by Australian Will Power.
Palou became only the fourth driver in IndyCar history to win three consecutive season crowns after American Ted Horn, France's Sebastien Bourdais and Scotland's Dario Franchitti.
'It's unbelievable. It's crazy. I couldn't be happier right now,' Palou said. 'This has been an amazing season, an amazing five years with CGR (Chip Ganassi Racing).

'The season is very long and in at least half of your matches you don't feel that good (physically). 'But you have to stay positive and play your best tennis on the day. I'm proud about that. Romero replaces Son as Spurs captain
AFP | London Cristian Romero has been named as Tottenham's new captain after the departure of club legend Son Heung-min. Son, who had worn the armband for the last two seasons and lifted the Europa League in May as Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy, joined LAFC earlier this month. Romero had acted as vice-captain for the previous two years and started the Europa League final win over Manchester United as skipper before Son came off the bench in the second half. The 27-year-old Argentine will lead his side out when Tottenham take on European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup today.

Atletico sign Italy forward Raspadori from Napoli
AFP | Madrid Atletico Madrid have signed Italy forward Giacomo Raspadori from Serie A champions Napoli on a five-year contract, the La Liga club announced yesterday. Raspadori, who also won the Scudetto with Napoli in 2023, has joined for 20 million euros ($23.2 million), according to Spanish media reports. The 25-year-old scored six goals for Napoli last term in his third season with the club after signing from Sassuolo in 2022.
