Celtics legend gives honest opinion of WNBA star Caitlin Clark
Boston Celtics point guard and NBA Hall of Famer Bob Cousy may have just turned 97 years old, but you can bet your last dollar he's still very invested in what's going on in the game that he loves.
One of those instances being the superstardom of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, and how the popularity for women's basketball has seen a drastic increase since her collegiate days with the Iowa Hawkeyes, a phenomenon commonly called the "Caitlin Clark effect."
Despite her talents, she has been seen as a polarizing figure in the sport, many of the other players seemingly jealous of the influence she has given the sport over the past couple years.
And Cousy just simply doesn't understand why.
'She's had a tremendous impact on that league and their earning potential. They should be kissing the ground she walks on, not trying to foul her and get her out of the game," the Celtics legend said in an interview with Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy. 'It's a saleable product and she's done a really good job selling it. It's enjoyable. My son-in-law is from Indiana and he's a Clark fan. She's exceptional.'
Though the Fever point guard has only played 13 games this year in an injury-plagued season, her rookie season in 2024 certainly proved that her first overall draft selection was no fluke, averaging 19.2 points per game and a WNBA-leading 8.4 assists per game.

HOUSTON (AP) — Ramón Urías had three hits with a two-run homer and Chas McCormick hit his first homer this season as the Houston Astros built a big lead and held on for a 7-6 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night. Carlos Correa hit an RBI single to help the Astros to the victory after they were swept in Boston to start the month. It was his first home game since rejoining the team in a blockbuster trade from the Twins. Houston starter Cristian Javier (1-0) had a solid outing in his return after sitting out more than 14 months following Tommy John surgery. He allowed two hits and two runs in the first inning before settling down and giving up just one single over the next four innings. Alex Bregman's two-run home run in the first inning gave Boston an early lead in his first game in Houston since leaving the Astros this offseason. Houston scored three runs in the third to take the lead and got a two-run shot from McCormick in the fourth and a two-run homer from Urías in the fifth to make it 7-2. But the Red Sox scored four runs with two outs in the seventh inning, highlighted by home runs from Abraham Toro and Roman Anthony, to get within 1. Bregman singled after that, but Jarren Duran grounded out to end the inning. Connor Wong doubled off Enyel De Los Santos with two outs in the ninth inning and Bennett Sousa took over and struck out Anthony to end it and collect his fourth save. Boston's Garrett Crochet (13-5) yielded seven hits and tied a season-high with five runs in a season-low four innings to snap a nine-game winning streak and give him his first loss since May 26. Urías, who was acquired from Baltimore at the deadline, finished a triple shy of the cycle to tie a season high in hits. Key moment Sousa's strikeout of Anthony in the ninth. Texans' DeMeco Ryans provides update on TE Brevin Jordan following injury
The Houston Texans are hopeful that tight end Brevin Jordan will have a similar outlook to defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, but optimism isn't high following Monday's practice. Jordan, fresh off recovering from a torn ACL suffered last September, suffered a lower leg injury during practice and had to be carted off the field. The scene was emotional, as Jordan was seen visibly upset while being carted off for further evaluation. "Unfortunately, we saw Brevin go down with an injury," Ryans said following practice. "We will continue to evaluate 'Brev' and see where he is. It's tough for everybody to see Brevin going down, knowing how much work he's put in to get back to this point of playing football and how excited he was to get back to playing football. So, just praying for him to have a successful return.' While trying to go up to catch a pass from C.J. Stroud in traffic, but when he came down, he fell awkwardly and did not get up. According to Houston Chronicle's Jonathan M. Alexander, Jordan sat there in shock after being unable to move. A couple of his teammates went to check on him before more players came over to comfort the veteran tight end. Soon enough, the scene became silent as Jordan began to sob uncontrollably. Multiple reporters stated that Jordan screamed "NO!" before being helped into the cart to be taken back by the medical staff for further evaluation. A 2021 fifth-round pick out of Miami, Jordan had played in 36 games, recording 13 starts, during the Texans' two seasons ahead of Stroud's arrival. He posted 532 receiving yards and five touchdowns before leaving after Week 2's game against the Chicago Bears. Even after his injury, the Texans signed Jordan to a one-year extension worth $2.1 million as he was projected to be a free agent in 2025. He was having a good camp and figured to be a big part of Houston's offense this season under new play-caller Nick Caley. The Texans return to practice on Tuesday morning ahead a joint practice on Thursday against the Carolina Panthers.
