'The Walking Dead' Star Kelley Mack Detailed Health Battle Before Death at 33
The Walking Dead star Kelley Mack bravely detailed her cancer battle on social media before she died at the age of 33.
She first took to Instagram on January 3 to share a photo of herself in a hospital bed, as well as a video of her being pushed in a wheelchair. "In September, I moved into a new apartment with my boyfriend, Logan. For a month after that, I had persistent lower back pain and thought I slipped a disc," she began in the lengthy caption. "A few weeks later, I had neuropathic itching in my right quad. And then, the shooting pains in my legs and back began, which resulted in me having to sleep in a recliner for a month because laying down was too painful. On Thanksgiving Eve, I had emergency MRIs done at the hospital, which revealed an abnormal mass in my spinal cord."
She explained she was eventually diagnosed with diffuse midline glioma, which is "an extremely rare type" of Astrocytoma cancer. "Due to the biopsy surgery on my spinal cord, I have lost the use of my right leg and most of my left leg, so I now get around with a walker and a wheelchair," Mack continued.
After noting that she was "grateful to have such a supportive and loving family and boyfriend," she said the experience brought her "closer to God."
"I just wanted to share this to be open about what I'm going through, in case any of you can relate or have been given a similar diagnosis. I am so thankful for the support everyone has given me throughout my acting career I love so much, which will also be somewhat paused for a little while as I undergo radiation treatment in Cincinnati, where my family is located," Mack said. "I do have some projects coming out soon, which I will of course share once they are released."
Mack wrote she was determined the health battle would be "a short chapter in my long book." She concluded, "The positivity, love and prayers that are being sent my way already is overwhelming and I feel it all."
Later in January, Mack revealed she was in the process of undergoing proton radiation sessions. By February, the 9-1-1 actress told fans that she was "feeling positive overall."

She shared another update on March 14, which was accompanied by a video of her ringing a bell in the hospital. "I'm currently in Florida and will be here until next week! It's tough adjusting to a new environment after getting into a routine at home, but the mental and emotional support from my loved ones keeps me in check, even when I'm feeling physically out of whack. It's a challenge that's really good for me, and the sun has been shining every day so far," she wrote at the time.
Mack said that the journey had "not been easy," though things were "getting better." She continued, "Improvements are tough to see when you're in the thick of it. Thank you again and again for the support and prayers."
Despite feeling hopeful, Mack's family sadly announced her passing in an Instagram post on Tuesday, August 5. "It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley," the caption read. "Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go."

Betty White's co-star Valerie Bertinelli opens up about the late legend helping during her toughest times
Valerie Bertinelli is reflecting on her days working with a television icon. In a clip from 'The Drew Barrymore Show' shared earlier this week, Bertinelli can be seen answering questions from the audience. When one fan asked what the best piece of advice she's ever received was, she brought up one of her former co-stars. 'The best piece of advice is from Betty White,' Bertinelli said. 'She really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just living, breathing gratitude, every second of her life, every moment I was around her.' She went on to say that White 'was grateful for the good, the bad, the ugly, all of it,' and that outlook has helped her deal with 'really challenging things of the past five years,' saying 'I'm grateful for the hard stuff.' 'It's sucked, and I wish I didn't have to go through it, but there was no other way for me to learn a better way,' Bertinelli continued. 'And I think mistakes are there purposefully to help us learn what not to do.' She concluded: 'So, gratitude for sure. Every moment, I'm grateful for. Even the hard stuff. Especially the hard stuff. That's Betty White.' Bertinelli and White starred alongside each other on the hit show 'Hot In Cleveland' for six seasons, from 2010 to 2015. White played Elka Ostrovsky, the elderly homeowner Bertinelli's character and her friends rent a house from when they decide to move from Los Angeles to Cleveland. She also spoke about her relationship with White during her appearance on the talk show in June, saying 'she was magical,' and calling herself 'lucky' to have been able 'to work with her for five years.' 'Hot In Cleveland' star Valerie Bertinelli shared on 'The Drew Barrymore Show' the best advice her costar, the late Betty White, gave her. Instagram/thedrewbarrymoreshow The actress has been very vocal about her recent struggles on social media, often taking to Instagram to share what she is going through. In May 2025, she shared with her followers that she is 'going through some of the most emotionally excruciating eight months of my life.' 'This is not to say I feel sorry for myself because I don't. Nobody has the market cornered on grief and heartache. People go through hard s— all the time. You just do what you have to do to get through what you have to get through,' she said. 'And I don't know that I would change any of it. I've learned so much more about my strength, my weaknesses, my patience, my resilience, and my worth. I still have more inner work left to do.' Two months later, Bertinelli took to the social media app to share that she is struggling to remain sober during her more difficult moments. Bertinelli said, 'She really taught me about gratitude. I thought I was grateful. She was just living, breathing gratitude, every second of her life, every moment I was around her.' WireImage 'I've been going through some really intense, uncomfortable, sad, emotionally excruciating feelings the last few days, and I want to drink. I want to numb it. I don't want to feel it,' Bertinelli admitted. She continued, 'But my logical mind is like, 'No, you don't want to do that. You don't want to numb it. You know what will help you feel better is to just feel the feelings. Get through to the other side. Have a good cry.' And yet, I can't cry.' While she didn't disclose what her specific struggles have been, she broke up with her boyfriend Mike Goodnough in November 2024, after 10 months of dating.

Rick Ross with Edition22 collection duffle bag as part of his RR22 Collection. edition22 Rick Ross is many things, a rapper, an entrepreneur, a cultural icon. Now, he is adding a luxury bag line with Edition22 to his long list of accomplishments. On Friday, he unveiled the RR22 Collection with the brand Edition22 at the G7 Rooftop in Fort Lauderdale, boasting vegan leather backpacks, duffle bags, sling bags, crossbody bags, and more. Embedded with the 'RR22' logo, the collection comes in various colorways, from black to baby blue, an olive green and an ochre yellow. The collection is rooted in giving back, as Edition22 has a Bag-4-Bag Initiative, where a backpack is donated to someone in need for every bag that is purchased. Edition22 is part of the Bugatti Collections, the parent company of luxury bags and luggage. A notable co-owner of Edition 22 is Etienne Boulay, a retired football player. (Photo by) Getty Images 'From the beginning, it was a priority for us at Edition22, and for Rick Ross, that the RR22 Collection had a meaningful impact beyond just fashion,' said Andrew Hattem, President of Edition22 and CEO of The Bugatti Group. 'The Bag-for-Bag initiative reflects that shared commitment: for every bag sold, we donate a backpack to someone in need. It's about giving back, empowering kids, and making a difference.' Motivation is part of Ross' legacy in hip hop and entrepreneurship. He recently celebrated the 19-year anniversary of his debut album Port of Miami, which was released in 2006, signing a multi-million-dollar deal with Jay-Z on Def Jam Recordings. Rick Ross and Etienne Boulay pose for the RR22 X Rick Ross shoot for Edition22. edition22 In line with Ross' legacy, RR22 Collection bag has an inspirational quote inscribed on the brand labels. The quotes are chosen by Ross. From 'You can't hustle and sleep at the same time,' to 'I'm a boss, I don't follow trends, I set them' and 'The game is going to test you, never fold. Stay 10 toes down,' they encapsulate his legacy. When he isn't performing onstage, hosting parties or dishing business advice on Instagram, Ross is busy. His entrepreneurial empire includes Bumbu rum, Luc Belaire sparkling wine, Belaire champagne, the Maybach Music Group record label, which he founded in 2008, signing artists like Meek Mill, French Montana and Omarion, among others. He also founded Maybach Films. He invests in dental brand Smiles by Mario Montoya, Hempacco, Ewing Athletics and various restaurant franchises, Checkers and Rally's and Wingstop. Rick Ross poses with a RR22 bottle bag with a bottle of Belaire in it for Edition22. edition22 Why would he continue to expand his empire into a lifestyle brand collaboration with Edition22? ''Why wouldn't I' is the question,' said Ross. 'Let me tell you something; when you're in South Florida, this is the number one spot in the world for entrepreneurship. 95% of my businesses are launching South Florida Takeoff. When you have an opportunity to work with Bugatti Collections, Edition 22, it's too easy. They have the most amazing team. They've made history with other celebrities with collaborations they've done. Now we just finna take it our way. Let's take it to the real, to the streets.' He saw his rise in hip hop in a very different, pre-digital era. It's different now, with social media as a major player in a rapper's success. His advice for today's young artists is that 'Everything is possible.' Rick Ross poses with RR22 Collection items for Edition22. edition22 Ross explains: 'That's what I would have told myself as a young artist. Even when it looks the darkest, when it looks like you have no opportunity there, or you could be sitting there just wanting to be a songwriter and you wake up one day and you're in the studio with Rick Ross and Rihanna, Beyonce, Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, you have to be prepared for that. And once that opportunity presents itself, you got to accept that challenge and turn up.' Ross often talks on podcasts and social media about mediocrity and how artists can stand out from the crowd. Its about rising above it, having a vision and making a bold statement. 'Rising above mediocrity is too easy, really. You have to love what you're doing. And when you love what you're doing, you put everything into what you're doing. And when you put your everything into what you're doing, it's hard for somebody to touch you.'
