MADANI govt in tune with rakyat's needs
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the announced approach would also further boost economic growth, provide relief to the people, as well as strengthen the country's fiscal resilience in the face of global uncertainties.
'At the same time, the MADANI Government will continue to strive to balance the need to improve the country's financial position with the responsibility to safeguard the well-being of the people.
'Highest appreciation and thanks to the Prime Minister for the announcement of the MADANI Government's measures that provide relief to the people, as well as drive the country's economic stability,' he said in a post uploaded on social media.
Fahmi said the measures taken and announced were the result of careful consideration based on the principles of social justice and economic sustainability.
Fahmi who is also the chairman of the Main Committee for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations (HKHM), also called on all Malaysians to raise the spirit of love for the country.
'This is the time for us to unite our hearts and souls, appreciate the blessings of independence and together contribute to the prosperity of the country,' he said.
He stressed that the government would continue to strengthen the development agenda through the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13) and the MADANI Malaysia Budget which is currently being worked for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister today announced several important initiatives as a sign of the MADANI Government's appreciation to all the people, including a one-off RM100 gift to every adult citizen aged 18 and above under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, a postponement of the increase in toll rates for 10 highways and a lower RON95 subsidised price of RM1.99 per litre.
Anwar also said that several other measures and new initiatives would be introduced in the 2026 Budget which is scheduled to be tabled this October.

MOF Warns of RM100 SARA Aid Scam Links
The Finance Ministry (MOF) has clarified that recipients of the one-off RM100 SARA aid do not need to register, amid growing concerns over scam links and misinformation spreading online. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said the aid will be automatically credited to all eligible MyKad holders aged 18 and above starting Aug 31, and any claims that users must sign up through online portals are false and potentially dangerous. 'We've received numerous inquiries and complaints about fake websites and links related to RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid registration. 'Let me be clear, these are scams. Do not click on or share them,' Lim emphasised, while stressing that no application is needed as the aid will be directly credited to recipients' MyKad. On July 23, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a one-off RM100 SARA cash aid that will be credited via MyKad to all Malaysians aged 18 and above. This part of broader Madani government initiatives, which also include toll hike postponements and a RON95 fuel price cut to RM1.99 per litre later this year. Lim added that in the event eligible individuals do not receive the payment by Aug 31, the government will provide follow-up information and guidance. Meanwhile, Lim also revealed that the government is reviewing proposals to include wet goods such as chicken, fish and meat under the SARA programme. 'The consideration is part of ongoing efforts to align the programme with real consumer needs, especially among lower-income households. 'We're open to feedback. Any expansion will be thoroughly studied in consultation with relevant stakeholders, including the recipients themselves,' she said. As of May 1, the SARA programme covers 14 categories of essential goods, including food, medicine, hygiene products, school supplies and household cleaning items, amounting to over 90,000 eligible products nationwide. Federal leader's insult pushed GRS into unity govt, says Hajiji

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : A federal leader's disdain for the proposed 'Borneo Bloc' political cooperation led Gabungan Rakyat Sabah into supporting Anwar Ibrahim's formation of the unity government after the 2022 general election, GRS chairman Hajiji Noor said today. Speaking at the annual convention of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, he said a former federal leader, whom he did not name, had dismissed the idea of Bornean cooperation. 'I was with Masidi Manjun and Jeffrey Kitingan in a meeting with a big leader over there (in Peninsular Malaysia) at the time. The person said they were the masters. He did not like the Borneo Bloc. He did not want us to share our experiences and stories with our neighbouring state of Sarawak,' he said. 'I was shocked by his words. I thought about them for a long time. What did they mean? What was his intent? As I thought about it, I lost heart (tawar hati) in these people,' he said in a video of his speech published on Facebook by Sabah Media. Hajiji said it was after much thought that he finally decided that GRS would support the unity government being formed by Anwar. Since then, he said Anwar's government 'has listened to our voices, and we have been treated well', and reiterated that GRS remained in support of the prime minister. Hajiji said many of Sabah's demands under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 were approved by Anwar, as opposed to previous leaders who found difficulty in devolving power to the state. 'So what are we hoping for? If the unity government is good for our state, why shouldn't we support it?' he said. In March, deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof said the unity government had successfully resolved nine key claims related to MA63, including power to regulate gas supply in Sabah, the administration of the judiciary in Sabah and Sarawak, and guidelines on land reserved for federal purposes in the two states.
