Karnataka: B.K. Hariprasad seeks Council resolution condemning ECI's actions
Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad on Tuesday urged the Karnataka Legislative Council to pass a resolution condemning the Election Commission of India's (ECI) actions, alleging misuse of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) technology and manipulation of voter lists. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr. Hariprasad said reports had surfaced that ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, voters belonging to communities not supporting the BJP and its allies were being removed from the rolls. He demanded that the Council adopt a resolution against such practices and forward it to the Union government. Citing irregularities in the Maharashtra Assembly polls, Mr. Hariprasad pointed out that the ECI announced 58.22% voter turnout until 5 p.m., but the figure suddenly jumped to 66.05% by midnight. 'Where did the additional 48 lakh votes come from?' he asked, referring to discussions at a recent roundtable organised by the Eddelu Karnataka campaign. He alleged that the BJP-led alliance won 25 constituencies by margins of around 3,000 votes, 39 constituencies by around 5,000 votes, and 69 constituencies by about 10,000 votes. 'Compared to the Lok Sabha elections, the voter numbers during the Assembly elections showed unexplained increases, but the Election Commission gave no answers,' he said. Expressing concern that similar issues may arise during the Bihar polls, he pressed for a strong resolution from the Council. In the absence of the floor leader, Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy assured him that the issue would be brought to the notice of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Kota Srinivas Poojary seeks ED probe into alleged foreign funding to ‘defame' Dharmasthala
Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, on Tuesday urged the Central government to order an Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe into alleged foreign funding for, what he called, an international conspiracy to defame Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara temple. In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Mr. Poojary said the probe should look into alleged foreign funding to some individuals, including YouTubers, who have been 'harming' Hindu religious beliefs. He said: 'Meanwhile news has spread that a Muslim YouTuber and his associates, who are attempting to defame the temple, have received foreign funds, and this is how some individuals have declared war on the temple'. Mr. Poojary in his letter said: 'As widely reported across the country, a group opposing the temple in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka has attempted to tarnish its sanctity. The State's Deputy Chief Minister has publicly stated that a conspiracy is afoot against the temple.' The MP further said the Minister in charge of Dakshina Kannada informed the media that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed at the request of Left-wing groups. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly formed the SIT based on the words of an anonymous accuser and the entire government appears to have surrendered to this accuser, he said. 'They are digging trenches indiscriminately, even at the base of the revered Hindu deity Bahubali, unsettling devotees. Media outlets have reported that a politician from Tamil Nadu is pressuring the Congress high command to orchestrate a plan to undermine the faith of Hindus in Karnataka.' Mr. Poojary said: 'Therefore, I request that you consider my letter seriously and order an ED inquiry into the foreign financial assistance received by those opposing the temple.'

BJP leaders, devotees and seers participate in pro-Dharmasthala protest in Belagavi
Members of Sri Dharmasthala Bhaktabhimani Vedike took out a silent protest in Belagavi on Tuesday to express solidarity with the holy place and protect it from what they called baseless slander by vested interests. Protestors wearing raincoats and holding umbrellas gathered in heavy rain in the old city. They began their rally from Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle and reached the Deputy Commissioner's office through Kirloskar Road, Maruti Galli, Ganapati Galli, Kakativesa, Rani Chennamma Circle and submitted a petition there. BJP leaders, members of Hindutva groups, some seers of Lingayat and other maths, devotees of Dharmasthala and others participated. They submitted a memorandum addressed to the President, through the Deputy Commissioner. KLE Society chairman and former Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore addressed the protestors at the end of the rally. He said that Dharmasthala is not a place limited to Hindus or Jains. It is open to devotees from all castes and communities and faith groups. He said that there is a strong suspicion that vested interests are behind a systematic slander campaign against it. He urged the State government to take legal action against those who are spreading misinformation about Dharmasthala. It is true that the State government formed a Special Investigation Team to look into claims of mass killings. However, despite digging at so many places, the SIT recovered no evidence. This proves that the allegations made against Dharmasthala by vested interests is false, he said. This is a conspiracy to insult Hindu holy places, he said. He demanded that the conspiracy be investigated. Sri Chandrashekar Shivacharya Swami said that Dharmasthala is a religious centre that unites Hindu society. 'It has been carrying out several charity programmes and social welfare schemes. All of us, especially women and farmers who have benefited from these programmes, should protect its reputation. We all have to stop the conspiracy against Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade's family and Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala,' he said. 'They have been feeding the poor and hungry for decades. The State government should wake up immediately and conduct a thorough investigation into the conspiracy hatched against it. We will not tolerate any misinformation about the constituency in the coming days,'' he said. MLA Abhaya Patil raised questions about the police informer, the masked man. 'Who is this person, with whose help is he committing the offence? What was he doing all these years? All these questions need answers. The truth needs to come out. The anonymous man needs to be subjected to a thorough examination and the truth needs to be revealed. The State government should think seriously about this. Otherwise, a strong protest by Hindu society will be launched across the State,' Mr. Patil said. The former MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath, the former MLAs Anil Benake, Mahantesh Dodagoudar and Sanjay Patil, Jagadish Hiremani, Jain community leaders Vinod Doddannavar, Sheetal Ushada Patil, Pramod Kocheri, BJP leaders Murughendra Patil, Subhash Patil, M.B. Zirali and others led the rally. Seers Sri Panchama Shivalingeshwara Mahaswamy, Siddhasamsthan Math, Nidsosi, Sri Sampadana Mahaswamy, Sri Sampadana Charamurthy Math, Chikkodi, Sri Neelkantha Mahaswamy, Sri Mahanta Duradundeshwara Math, Murugoda, Sri Prabhuneelkantha Mahaswamy, Morusavira Math, Bailhongal, Sri Gangadhar Mahaswami, Madivaleshwar Math, Hosur, and others were present.
