Facts you didn't know about the NFL Draft
The NFL Draft is fast approaching, so here are some facts about the big event.
unbranded - Sport
The 2025 NFL Draft is allowing the Colorado Buffaloes to reintroduce themselves.
Just two years after Deion Sanders took over as the team's head coach, Colorado is putting itself back on the NFL draft map.
It is an event typically owned by SEC giants like Alabama and Georgia, or the Big Ten elites like Ohio State and Michigan. Conference realignment and NIL deals have managed to completely uproot the sport, which now resembles the wild west.
When Colorado goes to the Big 12 and is also coached by Sanders, NFL talent will certainly follow. That wasn't always the case in the friendly confines of Folsom Field, but it is now.
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are the figureheads that represent Colorado's revival. Hunter figures to be a top-five pick and Sanders could easily land there too. At the very least, there will be some Buffaloes' influence on Sundays in the fall going forward.
Here's a look the Colorado Buffaloes NFL draft history.
Last Colorado player was drafted in the NFL
Will Sherman, an offensive lineman, is the last player to be drafted into the NFL out of Colorado. He was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.
Sherman has gone on to play just one game in his NFL career. He played six snaps on special teams in a Patriots' Week 5 win over the Houston Texans in 2021.
He is currently a member of the Denver Broncos after spending time on the team's practice squad in 2024.

Deion Sanders' Cryptic Three-Word Message Comes After Publicizing Health Setbacks
Deion Sanders' Cryptic Three-Word Message Comes After Publicizing Health Setbacks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Deion Sanders continues to stay out of the spotlight. One week after the Colorado Buffaloes coach told former NFL standout Asante Samuel he was dealing with health issues that has recently caused him to lose 14 pounds, he took to social media with a motivational video with captions. Advertisement The still image in the video is of Sanders on his property in Texas, staring off in the distance with the main message of "I see you." It adds a bit of intrigue as to what might be going on. While Sanders didn't reveal many details to Samuel, he did say it has forced him not to be out in the public eye. When Samuel asked if fasting was involved, Sanders replied by saying it was more serious. He noted that it was his first public appearance since a press conference on April 22, adding that he needed to go on the podcast for a boost. Sanders' health challenges have been widely reported over the past four years. He previously underwent multiple surgeries related to blood clots in his lower extremities. It resulted in the amputation of two toes on his left foot while at Jackson State. In late 2024, Sanders said doctors advised removing the remaining toes, which he declined. Where Shedeur Sanders Stands in Browns' QB Depth Chart Today
Where Shedeur Sanders Stands in Browns' QB Depth Chart Today originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Shedeur Sanders may be the fourth quarterback on the Cleveland Browns' depth chart, but he remains one of the most talked-about players in the building. As the Browns continue offseason workouts, the rookie quarterback is quickly learning that the NFL is a different world, especially when you're trying to climb from the bottom of a crowded quarterback room. Advertisement During Wednesday's OTA session, Sanders didn't take any first-team reps, according to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi. That's not unexpected. Veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett currently headline the depth chart, while third-round pick Dillon Gabriel was drafted two rounds before Sanders and appears to be ahead of him for now. Despite the limited opportunities, Sanders made the most of his reps. Per ESPN Cleveland, he completed 9 of 14 passes in seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 drills, throwing three touchdowns and one interception. The Browns even shared a highlight of one of those scores, a sharp throw to receiver Kaden Davis that drew praise from reporters on site. Joe Reedy of the Associated Press called it 'the best throw of the day.' For most fifth-round quarterbacks, stat-tracking at OTAs would be rare. But Sanders isn't most quarterbacks. Thanks to his college pedigree, high-profile family, and the unexpected drop in the draft, every move he makes will be heavily watched. He's one of the most scrutinized fourth-string quarterbacks in recent memory. Still, his status on the roster comes with real challenges. Sanders is fighting for attention and reps, which are hard to come by when the team has three quarterbacks ahead of you. Without significant snaps in training camp or preseason games, it's difficult to make a case for meaningful regular-season action. Advertisement Offensive coordinator Tommy Rees praised Sanders' preparation and grasp of the offense but also acknowledged that he's still a rookie learning the ropes.'He's really put in a lot of work, as all those guys are,' Rees told the Associated Press. 'You can tell on the mental side, learning the system, calling it, getting into rhythm, he's put a lot of time and effort into that. When you do that, the game slows down and you can focus on completions. He's done a nice job of that as camp's progressed.' Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, throwing at minicamp.© Jeff Lange / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Sanders' interception on Wednesday came off a tipped ball into traffic, another sign of the growing pains that come with transitioning to the NFL. His arm strength, vision, and mobility give him long-term upside, but he'll need to show consistency to move up the depth chart. For now, the focus is on development. Sanders isn't expected to start this season, and the Browns aren't rushing his timeline. But that doesn't mean he won't be closely watched. With his talent, work ethic, and media profile, Sanders remains a compelling figure in Cleveland's offseason narrative, even as a fourth-string quarterback. Advertisement If he continues to progress, it's only a matter of time before he forces his way into the conversation.
