Five teenage boys arrested after knife used in bullying incident caught on video

SINGAPORE: Five teenage boys aged between 12 and 15 were arrested on 10 July, 2025, for suspected rioting offences linked to a bullying incident that has caused public uproar.
According to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, police confirmed that two of the boys, aged 13 and 15, were charged on 16 July, 2025, with causing hurt.
The 15-year-old was additionally charged with carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.
The case gained widespread attention after a disturbing video was posted in the Facebook group Complaint Singapore on 23 July, 2025.
The footage shows a teenage boy surrounded by a group who threaten him.
One aggressor brandishes a butterfly knife and holds it to the victim's throat, demanding he 'tell the truth'.
The aggressor accuses the victim of frightening his friend and issues an ultimatum: 'kena whacked' or go naked.
Off-camera, another boy can be heard reinforcing the threat, giving the victim the option of being punched five times in the stomach or stripping naked.
Fearing more violence, the victim reluctantly chooses to strip before the video ends.
The incident has triggered outrage online, with many demanding swift and firm action.
Under Singapore law, those found guilty of possessing a scheduled weapon can be jailed for up to five years and face at least six strokes of the cane.
Police investigations into the remaining three teenagers are ongoing.

Altar suspected to have sparked fire in Bukit Merah HDB flat; SCDF breaks in to contain blaze, Singapore News

A fire broke out at an HDB flat in Bukit Merah on Saturday (July 26), allegedly sparked by an altar inside the unit. Responding to AsiaOne's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they received a call for help involving a fire at 6.05pm on July 26 at Block 55 Lengkok Bahru. The fire involved the contents of a living room in a unit on the 12th floor, SCDF added. A resident living in the HDB estate was alerted to the fire when they heard a loud noise and saw multiple SCDF personnel outside the unit, reported Shin Min. The resident also told Shin Min that the fire was caused by an altar in the unit. Speaking to AsiaOne, SCDF said that they conducted forcible entry and managed to extinguished the fire with a water jet. They also said that the cause of the fire is under investigation. Queenstown MP Eric Chua visited the affected HDB unit following the incident. In a Facebook post that night, he said that the family who was living there had already been relocated to a temporary flat and that they were "holding up well". He also added that the fire was contained to that singular unit and that there were no injuries. At the same time, he commended SCDF, HDB, the Lengkok Bahru Residents' Network and Tanjong Pagar Town Council for their prompt action and support rendered to the affected household. [[nid:720603]]

Dramatic Moment Brave Shopper Confronts Knife-Wielding Madman at Michigan Walmart After He Stabs 11 as First Photo of Attacker Emerges

At least 11 people were injured in a bloody stabbing rampage inside a Michigan Walmart on Saturday night, causing terrified customers and staff to run for safety, before a brave armed citizen stepped in and helped detain the attacker, according to police, eyewitnesses, and dramatic video footage. A dramatic video captured the extraordinary moment when the brave citizen was joined by three other men and confronted the unhinged suspect in the parking lot of the Traverse City Walmart. Amid the chaos, one of the brave men, who had lost his shoes, was seen walking barefoot as he ordered the knife-wielding attacker to drop his weapon before the suspect was arrested. Terror at Walmart 11 people were stabbed at a Michigan Walmart store X "Get on the ground!" one of the men could be heard shouting, while another yelled, "Drop the knife! Drop it!" "Throw the knife that way! Throw it away!" the barefoot man continued to shout. The terror unfolded around 5 p.m. when a 42-year-old man allegedly started attacking shoppers at random with a typical folding knife inside different areas of the large retail store in Traverse City — located roughly 255 miles northwest of Detroit — according to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea. "Based on the information that we have at this time, they were random acts," Shea said during a press conference on Saturday night, noting that such violent stabbings are "very uncommon" in the city. "Eleven [victims] is too many, but thank God it wasn't more." Six of the victims are currently in critical condition, while the remaining five are reported to be in serious condition. Police said that the terror started near the store's checkout counter. "The whole store started screaming and running," employee Tasha Nash told Channel2 Now, adding, "There was a guy with a knife — he stabbed six people. I saw someone stabbed in the eye." A customer who showed up at the store shortly after the brutal attack said she was stunned by the overwhelming presence of emergency personnel at the scene. "We were getting ready to go into Walmart as this was happening," one witness wrote on X shortly after investigators asked the public to avoid the area. "Of course, we weren't allowed to go in. I have never seen so many police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue vehicles and crime scene vehicles! They sent the employees home and told all of the customers to leave. Wow." Bigger Danger Avoided All 11 victims were transported to Munson Medical Center — the largest hospital in northern Michigan — where they are currently receiving treatment, Munson Healthcare stated in a Facebook post shortly before 7 p.m. The knife-wielding attacker seen being confronted bya brave shopper after he stabbed 11 at a Michigan Walmart X "Munson Healthcare is aware of the tragic incident that occurred earlier today at the Walmart in Traverse City," the agency said. "Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this event, and we are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement for their swift action. As a result, our Emergency Department is currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of patients." Police have not yet released the identity of the suspected attacker or a possible motive behind the horrific incident, but noted that the violent suspect appears to be a resident of Michigan. A spokesperson for Walmart stated that the company is actively "cooperating with law enforcement." "I'm in touch with law enforcement about the horrible news out of Traverse City," Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said on X.
