Altera Digital Health launches intelligent faxing solution
This new offering is integrated with the Sunrise electronic health record (EHR) platform and is available for hospitals and health systems using Sunrise 25.1, the latest version of the company's comprehensive EHR system.
Sunrise 25.1 was made available for mid-size hospitals and health systems last month.
Faxing continues to be widespread in the healthcare sector because of interoperability challenges and misunderstandings regarding the privacy and security of data exchanged over the internet.
Despite this, conventional faxing frequently requires users to switch between different systems and revise documents, leading to labour-intensive manual processes and risks to data integrity that jeopardise patient safety and adherence to regulations.
Sunrise Health Record addresses these issues by providing a modern user interface with features that streamline communication.
These include the integration of faxing within HIM shortfall management, enabling staff to send deficiency notices directly within the workflow, and configurable inbound fax queues that automatically route faxes to the appropriate department or user.
In addition, single-click outbound faxing eliminates the need to download, rename, or reupload files, and real-time audit trails ensure complete visibility of the faxing process.
Altera Digital Health Sunrise group leader and executive vice-president Jay Adams said: 'By embedding these capabilities directly into Sunrise, we're helping hospitals reduce delays, cut down on manual effort and drive better outcomes across core operational workflows.
'Faxing may still be part of healthcare, but the frustration doesn't have to be. Hospitals need health IT solutions that not only offer efficiency but also enable their teams to put time and attention where they're most needed.'
"Altera Digital Health launches intelligent faxing solution" was originally created and published by Hospital Management, a GlobalData owned brand.

Altera Digital Health launches TouchWorks Note+ for clinical note generation
Altera Digital Health has launched TouchWorks Note+, an ambient listening and note generation solution intended to streamline the documentation process for healthcare providers. The new solution, which is fully integrated with TouchWorks EHR, represents an advancement in Altera's plan to develop AI and modernise electronic health record (EHR) workflows. TouchWorks Note+ is claimed to be the sole solution that seamlessly integrates and transforms provider inputs from ambient listening, voice dictation, text entry, and pre-set macros into structured and codified data suitable for clinical applications and billing purposes. The system captures ambient audio from both desktop and, in compatible setups, from mobile devices. It discreetly records natural conversations during clinical interactions, enabling healthcare providers to concentrate entirely on their patients and foster stronger connections, stated the company. Following the appointment, the solution produces a comprehensive, editable draft of notes for the provider to review and finalise with ease. Altera stated that the integration of the new solution with TouchWorks EHR eliminates the need for multiple logins or duplicate data entry. This approach standardises documentation across visits, leading to more efficient charting and improved accuracy and consistency in coding. As a result, practices can depend more reliably on the data for future applications. Furthermore, due to the proprietary AI coordination platform, Altera stated that it can utilise the most advanced current and future large language models (LLMs) to facilitate precise and efficient data processing across various specialities and modalities. Altera Digital Health chief medical officer Dr Jeanne Armstrong said: 'As a practising physician, I know firsthand the toll documentation can take on clinical time and cognitive load. 'TouchWorks Note+ reimagines the provider experience, allowing providers to stay present with patients while the technology works behind the scenes. It's not just about documentation efficiency. It's about restoring the human connection between provider and patient.' Altera described TouchWorks Note+ as the first in a series of planned AI-driven developments aimed at giving providers more time with patients by reducing time spent on documentation. Florida hotel implements remote check-in system with offsite employee
A hotel in Sunrise, Florida, has sparked attention after implementing an outsourced check-in system featuring a remote front desk employee appearing on a large screen. 'Are you back here behind the desk, or are you somewhere else?' Pete Sager, a guest, asks the employee on the other side of a virtual check-in screen. 'No, no, no, we're working remotely, sir,' the employee answers. A spokesperson for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, owner of La Quinta Inn, told The New York Post: 'This is a franchised location, meaning the hotel is independently owned and operated, and as such, we don't control staffing. This franchisee's use of this equipment is not brand-approved nor is it being marketed to other franchisees.' 'Our brand standards require hotels to have a team member physically stationed at the front desk at all times,' the spokesperson added.
