'Absolutely worth the wait': Virat Kohli shares first post as RCB lift maiden IPL trophy, team announces Bengaluru victory parade
After 17 seasons of heartbreaks and near misses, Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally ended their wait for glory, securing their first-ever IPL title with a thrilling 6-run win over Punjab Kings in the 2025 final. The historic victory sparked massive celebrations, and for Virat Kohli — the franchise's longest-serving face — it meant even more, as he shared an emotional note on Instagram the morning after the win.
Virat Kohli pens heartfelt note after lifting trophy
On Wednesday morning, Virat Kohli took to Instagram to share a powerful message alongside four unforgettable photos to celebrate the win. The first showed the squad claiming their championship title; the second captured the team lifting the IPL trophy mid-celebration; the third featured Kohli alongside Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar; and the fourth was a personal moment — Kohli alone, holding the trophy that had eluded him for 18 long years.
In his caption, he wrote, "This team made the dream possible, a season I'll never ever forget. We've thoroughly enjoyed the ride over the last 2.5 months. This one is for the fans of RCB who never ever left our side in the worst of times. This one is for all the years of heartbreak and disappointment. This is for every inch of effort left on the field playing for this team. As far as the IPL trophy is concerned, you've made me wait 18 years to be able to lift it and celebrate, my friend, but it's been absolutely worth the wait. ❤️ 🏆@royalchallengers.bengaluru"

Revathi Kamath, mother of Zerodha co-founders, takes Bengaluru Metro: Check her Instagram post
Revathi Kamath, the mother of Zerodha co-founders Nikhil and Nithin Kamath, praised Bengaluru Metro in an Instagram post. The environmentalist shared a photo in a pink saree, standing in the women's coach. 'Travelling in Metro is so much convenient and that too in female compartment!!!' she wrote. In her Instagram bio, she calls herself an 'environmentalist and Veena player'. There is no mention of her remarkably-accomplished sons. However, in an earlier interview, she praised her sons. 'I have brought them up to contribute. My sons, especially Nithin, tell me – 'You do it with your own money and don't depend on any organisations, only then people will recognise you.' Nikhil at times will transfer money for a project to me without asking anything,' she told Indian Express. Social media users reacted to her Bengaluru Metro post. One of them wrote, 'Looks like you really enjoyed your metro ride, Revathi.' 'Are u planning to buy Bangalore Metro,' quipped another. Revathi Kamath was born in Shringeri into a learned Brahmin family where music and education played a major role. Her father, N. Krishnamurthy, was a lawyer and skilled Veena player who later taught music full-time. Her creative journey began when her husband brought her flowers from work. Balancing home life and motherhood, she slowly built her name. She opened a small flower shop in Jayanagar, which grew quickly. Shreyas Iyer 'can't be kept out of T20Is, Tests', 'officially' challenges Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma for India captaincy
The scoreboard might show Shreyas Iyer as the losing captain of IPL 2025, but within Indian cricket's power corridors, his stock has never been higher. On the eve of the final between RCB and Punjab Kings, one of Indian cricket's influential decision-makers offered a striking endorsement of Iyer's future. 'Right now he just plays ODIs, but after this IPL we can't keep him out of T20 internationals and even Tests. Plus he also has now officially joined the white-ball captaincy race,' the official told Indian Express, suggesting that Iyer's impact this season has sparked a serious rethink within the national setup. It's been a turnaround few saw coming. Not long ago, Shreyas found himself without a central contract, out of the Test and T20I squads, and, most shockingly, released by Kolkata Knight Riders after leading them to the IPL title in 2024. The doubts over his fitness, form, and temperament had pushed him to the fringes. However, Iyer continued to perform big in domestic circuit for Mumbai, and even led the side in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Then came Punjab Kings, a franchise with perennial underachievement but rich in untapped potential. Iyer embraced the challenge, and what followed was a masterclass in leadership. He found not only form with the bat but also forged a deep emotional connection with teammates and fans, who began calling him 'Sarpanch Sahab,' a nod to his calm but commanding presence. The moment that sealed his status came during the Eliminator against the Mumbai Indians. With the chase wobbling and Jasprit Bumrah breathing fire, Iyer unfurled a counter-assault of stunning composure. He dismantled Bumrah, cleared the ropes with ease, and held firm as wickets tumbled at the other end. Iyer eventually finished unbeaten on 87 off 41 deliveries, ensuring PBKS chased down a huge 204-run target with an over to spare. Though Punjab eventually fell short in the final, Iyer's aura only grew. His cold stare at Shashank Singh after a critical run-out showed he could demand more from his players. Iyer may not have lifted the trophy this year, but he's certainly forced Indian cricket to sit up and reconsider.
