MP horror: Dalit youths stripped, beaten with chilli paste; cops accused of brutal abuse of power
The victims, residents of the Kanjadpur Dharampura area, said they were returning from a housewarming ceremony on July 15 when they stopped to urinate by the roadside. A Dial-100 police vehicle allegedly picked them up without explanation. One youth, who is disabled, was released, while the remaining four were taken to the police station, hung upside down, beaten with belts, and tortured.
Police had earlier claimed to have arrested five individuals for stealing transformer oil.
The incident triggered protests by Bhim Army workers and the victims' families, who marched to the SP office demanding action under the SC/ST Act and suspension of the accused policemen. A sit-in was staged outside the SP office, where authorities responded by locking the gates and cutting power to the premises.
DIG Lalit Shakyawar later visited the site and assured that a medical examination would be conducted and action taken after investigation.

Mumbai: The Aarey Colony Police have registered an FIR for rash and negligent driving against a motorcyclist after a 53-year-old woman seated pillion on his two-wheeler died in a road crash at Goregaon East. The woman's family told the police that the motorcyclist, Shubham Ghatwal, was trying to overtake a BEST bus when he rammed into another two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. Rs 50 lakh awarded by tribunal to parents in son's 2019 road accident death
Thane: The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) awarded a compensation of Rs 49.4 lakh to the elderly parents of a 25-year-old IT engineer who died in a tragic road accident on Ghodbunder Road in January 2019. The incident occurred near the Hide Park bus stop when the victim, a resident of Thane, was riding his motorcycle and attempted to overtake a state transport bus. He lost control and collided with the bus, after which a truck coming from behind ran over him, causing fatal head injuries. The tribunal observed that while the young man failed to maintain proper distance while overtaking, the truck driver's rash and excessive speed was primarily responsible for the fatality.
